I'm very pleased with the friendly, professional staff and supportive administration - they made me feel safe and at home. The rehab-focused team (physical therapy and cardiac care), attentive case management, reliable meds/equipment, clean rooms, and personalized care plans helped me improve. I would recommend this facility for compassionate, well-organized care.

    Summary of reviews

Excelcare at the Pines elicits strongly mixed reactions. Many families and residents praise the facility's clinical strengths: a rehabilitation-focused program with robust physical therapy services, attentive nursing and caregiving staff, proactive case management, and personalized care plans that target cardiac and other medical needs. Numerous reviewers describe warm, welcoming interactions at reception and throughout the caregiving teams, continuity from long-tenured staff, engaging social programming, and meal service that accommodates special diets.

Care quality is frequently characterized by compassion and responsiveness. Reviewers highlight individualized attention from nurses and CNAs, painless clinical procedures, and staff who develop rapport with residents. At the same time, a recurring operational theme is inconsistent staffing and workload pressure. Families reported uneven responsiveness across shifts—day coverage is often characterized as strong while evening and night coverage can be less consistent—which can lead to delays in routine assistance and tension around handoffs.

Dining and activities are generally seen as strengths; reviewers note tasty meals and active programming that supports social engagement and rehabilitation goals. Rooms and patient areas are described as clean and well-maintained by many visitors, and several reviewers described effective infection-control practices such as COVID precautions. However, these positive impressions coexist with accounts of sanitation and pest-control concerns in some areas and with comments that the physical plant is aging and needs maintenance or cosmetic updates.

Management impressions are divided. Some reviewers praise visible, engaged administrators and attribute good outcomes to active leadership and advocacy. Others describe inconsistent administrative responsiveness, concerns about internal communication, and frustrations with property-management processes—specifically laundry and personal-property handling. A small number of reviews raise serious post-event concerns and allege misconduct; these accounts underscore the importance of reviewing regulatory history and follow-up actions during any evaluation.

For prospective residents and families: consider an in-person tour at different times of day, ask about current staffing ratios and shift coverage, review recent inspection or deficiency records, inquire about pest-control measures and maintenance plans for the building, and request written policies for laundry, personal property, and family communication. Asking to meet the therapy team, nursing leadership, and the admissions or case-management staff can help clarify whether the facility's strengths align with your care priorities and whether operational concerns are being actively addressed.
