    Consistently kind staff, spotless rooms

I had a very positive experience - staff were consistently kind, helpful and attentive, the building and rooms were spotless, meals were good, and on-site medical and rehab services were excellent. My family felt welcome and supported, care was dignified and consistent, and I would recommend this facility.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Abigail House present a polarized picture: many families and visitors praise the staff, therapy program, activities, and a generally welcoming atmosphere, while other accounts raise serious operational concerns. Strengths most consistently cited include engaged nursing and caregiving teams, on-site physician coverage through an affiliated hospital, and a substantial physical-therapy program that operates six days a week. Multiple reviewers described attentive, family-oriented staff who provide personalized care, warm reception and visitor accommodation, and regular social and religious programming that supports resident engagement.

Care quality appears mixed. Positive comments highlight compassionate nursing and aide support, good continuity of caregivers, and effective rehabilitation outcomes and discharge planning. In contrast, a number of reviews describe delays in clinical attention (missed or inconsistent rounds), medication administration and documentation problems, and lapses in communication with families after clinical incidents. There are also statements indicating inconsistent continuity of therapy services in some cases, which suggests variability in scheduling or handoffs across shifts.

Facility and dining observations are similarly mixed. Many reviewers complimented clean, well-kept common areas, pleasant rooms, and satisfactory meal options. Opposing feedback describes sanitation and odor-control issues in particular locations, visible maintenance problems (including mold and wall damage), and uneven dining experiences. Activities programming is frequently noted as a positive โ€” regular entertainers, holiday events, and an active activities director were highlighted as contributors to resident morale.

Management and safety patterns require careful scrutiny by prospective families. Several reviews recount breakdowns in incident follow-up and family communication after adverse events, along with concerns about property security and missing personal items. A subset of comments raises serious administrative issues, including allegations of financial coercion and theft and mentions of external regulatory or law-enforcement involvement. These are serious themes that contrast with other reviewersโ€™ descriptions of responsive management handling concerns effectively.

Practical guidance for prospective residents and families: visit the facility multiple times, at different times of day and on weekends; ask for written policies on medication administration, incident reporting, and property security; request staffing ratios and details about nursing rounds and therapy schedules; review recent regulatory inspection history and how management addressed any findings; and speak directly with families of current residents about day-to-day responsiveness. Abigail House demonstrates clear strengths in clinical oversight, rehabilitation, and resident engagement, but variability in sanitation, communication, documentation, and property controls means due diligence is warranted before placement.

    About Abigail House

Abigail House sits at 1105 Linden St in Camden, right near Cooper University Hospital and Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital, and the place covers a lot of care needs for folks coming out of the hospital or needing longer help, because it's got skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and even medical help for people with orthopedic, cardiac, neurological, or pulmonary issues, as well as for complicated medical cases, so if someone needs short-term rehab, long-term care, home care services, respite stays, or even hospice and palliative care, they've got options, and there's this Casa De Abigail section inside too, so it's really built for lots of different stages and health concerns. Staff speak English, and there's a warm, lived-in feeling when you walk the halls, and you'll find people helping each other out, and though the building's 188 beds mean it's pretty big, families say the staff keep things competent and welcoming, which might be why there are 4 stars on 72 reviews. People can book times to visit or talk about admission, since there's an appointment system, and folks can get advice on long-term care plans and insurance, or find referrals for other help when it's time to go home, because the place works hard to make moves from hospital to Abigail House to home as safe and easy as they can. Hours run Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Sundays closed. The therapists have a reputation for getting people back on their feet, so people talk about an excellent rehab program, and you can see that the staff care about giving good medical attention while also trying to help residents feel comfortable, whether it's folks who need ongoing support or people just passing through on their way home.
