    Spotless, caring staff, excellent rehab

I had a very positive stay - the building was spotless and felt like home, the nurses and aides were caring and professional, and the rehab team helped me regain strength. Activities (music, bingo, pet therapy) and friendly staff kept days engaging, and administration was responsive and accommodating. I'm grateful for the attentive care and would recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

Royal Suites presents a mixed but distinct profile: its strongest and most consistent asset is rehabilitation. The facility’s physical, occupational, and speech therapy services — supported by a well‑equipped gym and engaged therapists — are frequently cited as instrumental in patient improvement and discharge home. The activities department is another clear strength, with daily programs, live entertainers, arts-and-crafts, special events and pet therapy that contribute to resident engagement and socialization.

Clinical care receives divided assessments. Many families and patients describe compassionate, attentive nurses, CNAs, and highly capable therapists; several named nursing leaders and therapists are praised for hands-on attention and follow-through. At the same time, reviewers describe variability in staff performance: agency personnel, night and weekend shifts, and certain aides or nurses are sometimes perceived as less responsive or inconsistent. Operational patterns linked to staffing shortfalls include delayed responses to call bells, long waits for assistance with toileting or transfers, and inconsistent bathing or linen schedules. There are also repeated mentions of medication availability and administration gaps that merit careful review prior to admission.

Dining and housekeeping feedback is similarly mixed. Some reviewers commend generous portions, varied menus, and improvements implemented via a food committee; others consistently cite cold meals, menu errors, and uneven meal service. Housekeeping and the facility’s physical plant are generally described as clean and recently renovated, especially in public and therapy areas, but cleanliness and sanitation inconsistencies are noted in certain units or rooms, sometimes accompanied by odor concerns and delayed linen changes.

Management and communication show variability. Admissions staff, social workers, and some administrators receive positive remarks for being welcoming and helpful; however, families also report uneven communication about clinical status, therapy progress, and incident follow‑up. Several accounts point to the need for more proactive updates, clearer coordination between nursing and therapy, and more consistent escalation when clinical issues arise. Weekend hospice coverage and end‑of‑life coordination are cited as specific gaps by some families.

Notable patterns and risk areas: while many experiences are strongly positive — especially around rehab and activities — there is a substantive minority of accounts describing serious care lapses, including delayed clinical responses, pressure injuries, infection‑related hospital transfers, and fall incidents. There are also isolated allegations concerning item mishandling and staff conduct that families considered significant. These items suggest variability in quality that appears tied to staffing levels, shift patterns, and unit-level supervision rather than facility design.

Advice for prospective residents and families: observe the specific unit you would occupy (cleanliness and staffing can vary by floor), ask for a written therapy schedule and medication‑management plan, confirm weekend hospice and after‑hours clinical coverage, and clarify call‑bell response expectations and toileting/bathing frequency. Royal Suites offers strong rehabilitation and an active social environment, but prospective admissions should weigh those strengths against the documented variability in staffing, communication, dining temperature/consistency, and clinical incident response.

About Royal Suites Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center

Royal Suites Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center sits on a scenic country campus in Galloway, New Jersey, right near Atlanticare Regional Medical Center and Shore Memorial Hospital, and they offer a wide range of healthcare services including skilled nursing care, long-term care, rehabilitation, Alzheimer's and dementia care, post-surgical help, palliative care, and respite care, and while many people come for the rehabilitative therapy, others use their services for aging in place and memory care. The center features the SMART Rehab Unit, developed by Ocean Healthcare, which is a dedicated care unit for folks who need special help after surgery or an illness, and it lets people go through therapies like physical, occupational, and speech therapy without having to move elsewhere. They've got amenities like a beautician, onsite meals, both indoor and outdoor community areas, secure outdoor spaces where residents can get some fresh air, onsite resident parking, and easy access showers and wheelchair accessible rooms. The staff includes nurses, caregivers, therapists, and various specialists such as a podiatrist, dentist, and doctor on call, and there's always 24-hour staffing with a high staff-to-resident ratio to help with things like catheter care, feeding tubes, wound care, IV management, and any specialized care such as colostomy or incontinence care. The campus allows pets, provides transportation and parking, and offers onsite and offsite activities, including devotional services; there are plenty of in-house social and wellness activities too, giving the place a lively feel rather than just a medical environment. They accept Medicare, Medicaid, private pay, and many insurance plans, and often work closely with hospitals, doctors, and families to make new admissions and transfers go a bit smoother-admissions happen seven days a week, so there's a lot of flexibility. Meals are prepared for residents, special assistance is available for those who need help with mobility, and the staff makes an effort to support whatever health or daily living needs people have, with staff chosen for their technical skills and compassion. The building's aging in place option is helpful for folks who want to stay even as their care needs change, and there's a secure unit for people with memory issues. Royal Suites offers both hospice and palliative care, and has received recognition with awards like "Best of Senior Living" and "Best of Senior Living All Star" for their care and support, and people often mention the professional, kind staff in reviews. The center uses a security feature for online contact forms, has a Virtual Tour option online, and the Director of Admissions can help families sort out insurance and Medicare details; overall, the place tries to offer a homelike setting while still covering complex medical and personal care needs, with specialized programs and amenities to help people recover or live as comfortably as possible, and it aims to keep everything as straightforward as possible for residents and families.
