    Caring staff restored father's strength

I'm very pleased with Pelican Pointe - professional, caring staff and wonderful nurses/CNAs; PT/OT restored my father's strength and the social worker and administration were very helpful. The facility is spotless, the food and activities (pet therapy, live music) kept him engaged, and I'd recommend it for rehab or long-term care.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Pelican Pointe Post Acute Nursing & Rehabilitation present a mixed but detailed picture. Many families and residents describe compassionate, attentive nursing and caregiving staff, strong physical and occupational therapy programs, and successful short-term rehabilitation outcomes. Social work and discharge planning receive frequent positive mention for helping secure home equipment and keeping families updated. The facility’s amenities — including an enclosed outdoor walking area, pet therapy, live music, veteran events, and visible holiday decorations — contribute to an engaging activity program that residents commonly enjoy.

Clinical care and staffing are areas of clear strength for numerous reviewers: timely call-light responses, thorough evaluations, and clinicians who restore mobility and support discharge were repeatedly praised. Several reviewers credited leadership and specific managers for being supportive and for fostering a positive work environment. Cleaning and maintenance staff are often described as professional, and many noted clean, well-kept rooms and corridors.

However, a number of persistent operational concerns recur across reviews. Staffing levels and coverage are described as inconsistent, which some families link to delays in assistance and variability in the tone and conduct of certain staff members. Therapy delivery and intensity appear uneven: while some residents experienced robust, effective rehab, others described limited or inconsistent therapy services. Dining evaluations are mixed as well; although dietary staff are often accommodating and some meals are praised, other accounts indicate inconsistent food quality and issues with temperature control.

Facility maintenance and safety also show variability. While many cite a clean, welcoming environment, other reviews raise sanitation concerns, odor issues in particular areas, and pest-control needs. There are also statements indicating gaps in clinical oversight and safety practices, and several comments about variable professionalism at the front desk or in administration. In a small number of serious narratives, reviewers allege financial exploitation and wrongful eviction; these are notable outlier claims that warrant direct inquiry by families and, if appropriate, verification through regulatory or legal channels.

Overall, Pelican Pointe appears to provide high-quality rehabilitation and compassionate caregiving for many residents, with strengths in therapy, social-work support, activities, and certain management personnel. At the same time, prospective residents and families should be alert to variability: ask for specifics about staffing ratios and shift coverage, request the therapy plan and expected frequency, observe mealtime routines and food temperature handling, inquire about sanitation and pest-control protocols, and clarify grievance and oversight procedures. These targeted questions can help determine whether the facility’s operational practices align with a given resident’s needs and expectations.

About Pelican Pointe Post Acute Nursing & Rehabilitation

Pelican Pointe Post Acute Nursing & Rehabilitation stands in North Cape May, set in a quiet and friendly neighborhood, where people get help whether they need short-term rehab after a hospital stay or long-term nursing services, and you'll find 24-hour supervision with a call system always ready so residents get support anytime of the day or night, and the staff there, with both registered and licensed nurses, provides skilled nursing and help with daily tasks, medication, transfers, and even more complicated medical needs like wound care, respiratory support, diabetes management, and pain relief. Residents living with dementia or Alzheimer's have individualized plans, made with help from their families; they get memory care in a safe and secure community, where the Memory Support area supports people with memory loss and gives them a sense of home and calm; everyone gets plenty of activities for both body and mind, from exercise to social groups, and there's a well-stocked library, a formal dining space, and a family lounge for quiet visits or friendly gatherings, plus a beauty salon and barbershop for a bit of self-care, and an enclosed courtyard where people can spend time outdoors. The rooms are decorated for comfort and have cable TV, Wi-Fi, and phones, so folks can stay connected and entertained, and the whole building stays clean, which staff take pride in, and you'll find volunteers lending a hand to bring a warm and caring atmosphere. Physical, occupational, and speech therapy are available on-site, and teams of physicians, therapists, social workers, and dietitians work together to create personal care plans to meet each person's needs, whether the goal is to regain strength after surgery or heal in a longer stay. There's always a certified nursing assistant available, and visitors can come by most any time as long as they respect residents' routines. The staff has a reputation for being kind, attentive, and patient, offering as much help as needed, and Pelican Pointe accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and many insurance plans, and the admissions process is simple and open 24/7. People can get help with nursing care, recovery, memory support, respite, subacute, hospice, and palliative care, and while Pelican Pointe may not seem fancy from the outside, folks often feel safe and valued inside, and the focus always stays on healing both body and mind, with compassionate care and lots of attention to making people feel at home.
