    Beautiful facility, inconsistent and unsafe

I'm torn: the beautifully remodeled Buffalo facility has an excellent rehab team, caring staff, great therapy (even a cute therapy dog) and helped with recovery. But I also experienced-and heard many reports of-severe problems: chronic understaffing, missed or late meds, dirty/soiled rooms, unresponsive or rude nurses, safety/medication concerns and even theft. Care here is wildly inconsistent by shift and personnel; I'd only consider it with constant oversight and urge others to proceed with caution.

About Buffalo Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing

Buffalo Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing sits at 1014 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo and offers both short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care under the Centers Health Care network, and you'll find staff there day and night since they're open 24/7, which means you always have someone to turn to if you need help, and they've become known for their collaborative rehab program, which even the Buffalo Sabres trust for their therapy needs, so you know the care is serious; they have the GO Rehab Program which brings some innovative treatments to Buffalo, and they use personalized rehab plans with new technology for things like stroke, orthopedic recovery, TBI/neurobehavioral care, and wound management through their Wound Care program, plus they have special units like the Neurobehavioral Unit focusing on TBI and brain injuries, and also offer specialty medical care for cardiac, pulmonary, HIV/AIDS, dialysis, ventilator support, hospice, COVID-19, dementia, and urgent pain management, with skilled staff who know about different needs-there's even ultra-care and ventilator support services on site; you'll notice their rooms and common spaces are comfortable and welcoming, with a focus on safety and refined amenities, and the place really stresses family, friendship, and community, with activities and wellness programs to help residents stay connected, while the nutrition program and health services cover a lot of ground; the facility uses up-to-date EMR systems so that doctors, nurses, staff, and families can all communicate about each resident's care, and with a large, tight-knit care team there are usually more than one caregiver for each resident, which helps people feel seen and supported; if you look into their RehabStrong™ and GO Rehab programs, you'll see how they try to help people recover and regain their strength, and there's adult day care, assisted living, home health care, and lab services available too if someone needs extra support or different types of care-they also follow strict COVID-19 protocols for visitors, needing a negative test and health screening, but do allow walk-ins and make exceptions for emergency and compassionate cases, following rules from CMS and NYSDOH, all of which led them to earn a CMS Five Star Rating, and being part of Centers Health Care means they follow the standards set by a respected leader in post-acute care in the Northeast, so if you need either short-term rehab, long-term nursing care, or specialized support for things like dialysis or ventilator care, you'll likely find the kind of help you're looking for here, and you can always learn more about the programs or their services by checking out their website at buffalo-center.facilities.centershealthcare.org.
