    Moved my dad; very pleased

I moved my dad here and have been very pleased. The staff - Theresa, Gregg, Margret, Bianca and Barbara C. included - are warm, attentive, knew him by name, and handled admissions and nursing with professionalism and compassion. Rooms and common areas are bright, spacious and meticulously maintained, the food is fresh and ample, and there's a genuine sense of community with meaningful activities. Management is responsive, the team kept our family updated, and my dad's health and weight improved. I feel confident he's well cared for and comfortable.

    Summary of reviews

Madison York Assisted Living presents as a well-appointed, community-focused facility with strengths across caregiving, accommodations, and social programming. The physical environment is consistently described as bright, modern, and meticulously maintained, with multiple common spaces (library, outdoor seating, large theater) and roomy dining and living areas. Its central location near Flushing Meadows Park and availability of parking are noted conveniences for families.

Care quality is generally characterized positively. Nursing staff and dementia-care programming are described as thorough and compassionate, with families reporting improved resident health and regained weight under the facility’s routines. Staff interactions are frequently called attentive and supportive: employees learn residents’ names, assist with moves, provide timely updates to families, and facilitate structured daily routines that contribute to resident stability and wellbeing.

Dining and activities are highlighted as strengths. The dining program is described as providing ample, fresh, wholesome meals served in a spacious, bright dining room. A busy activities calendar, regular celebrations, and opportunities for meaningful connections indicate a vibrant social environment that supports engagement and quality of life.

Management and operations show mixed patterns. Several accounts praise the Director of Community Relations and responsive managers, particularly during admissions and care transitions; expedited move-ins are possible in many cases. However, the intake process is also described as challenging by some families, and there appear to be accessibility gaps affecting wheelchair users that may require advocacy or accommodation workarounds.

A notable area of concern centers on front-desk and customer-service consistency. Reviews describe inconsistent professionalism and communication tone at reception, including allegations of unprofessional conduct severe enough that a regulatory complaint was mentioned. These issues seem concentrated at the reception/customer-service interface rather than reflecting the caregiving teams overall, but they can affect family interactions and first impressions. Additionally, the facility has implemented restrictive room-viewing policies during infection-control periods, which has limited in-person tours for some prospective families.

In sum, Madison York offers strong clinical and social programming in a well-maintained, congenial setting with attentive caregiving and robust amenities. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s operational strengths against the reported variability in front-desk professionalism and the need to clarify accessibility accommodations and admissions steps prior to move-in. Visiting in person (when possible) and discussing intake, accessibility, and communication protocols with management can help set expectations and address any concerns before a transition.

    About Madison York Assisted Living

Madison York Assisted Living sits in a tree-lined neighborhood right in the heart of Queens, New York, at 112-14 Corona Ave., Flushing, NY 11368, across from Flushing Meadows-Corona Park and close to stores, restaurants, public transport, and hospitals, which makes getting around easy for residents who like to stay connected to the city and their families, and the building itself is modern and cozy with comfortable, well-decorated sitting and dining rooms that feel a bit like home, offering a good balance between privacy and a sense of community. The place is family-owned, licensed by the New York State Department of Health as an Adult Care Facility, and runs an approved Assisted Living Program, so folks can count on trained staff available 24/7 to help with everything from emergencies and mobility to medication management, and aging adults can work with care managers and nurses to get services and therapies set up for their personal needs. Residents choose from different room types-studio, one-bedroom, semi-private, and two-bedroom-each room has cable, Wi-Fi, phones, and a kitchenette to make life easier and a bit more independent, while the staff takes care of laundry and housekeeping.

Meals and snacks come restaurant-style in a nice dining room, with attention to nutrition and health, and there's an on-site salon and small library where residents can take time for themselves without going far. Out back, there's an outdoor space for enjoying fresh air and sunlight, and indoors there are spots set aside just for chatting or joining group events. Anyone living here finds that they're encouraged to join recreational, social, and educational activities, whether it's games, discussions, or planned movement classes, and transportation can be arranged for outings, appointments, or errands. Physicians affiliated with well-known area hospitals visit for medical needs, and nursing, therapies, personal care, diabetes assistance, and case management can be arranged as needed, so people don't need to worry about travel for medical help. Residents get support with daily living-bathing, dressing, moving from bed to wheelchair-while the team respects privacy, dignity, and people's need for independence, aiming to keep the environment safe, caring, and comfortable.

There are different fees depending on care level and room choice, including community, buy-in, respite, and second person fees, and they accept private pay, social security, veterans' benefits, and different care pricing structures, which helps families find a payment option that works. The facility includes a virtual tour online and an overview video walkthrough, so visiting or learning more before moving in doesn't have to be hard. Madison York Assisted Living brings together healthcare, supportive services, and home-style comforts with programs shaped to fit what each resident needs, all in a corner of Queens where neighbors still say hello and parks and stores aren't far away.
