    Attentive staff, excellent care, reassuring

I'm very impressed with the attentive, professional, and caring staff. The facility and rooms are spotless and welcoming, therapy and nursing teams provide excellent care, and the visitor-friendly kiosk makes check-in fast and easy. Staff communicate clearly, go out of their way to help, and I feel confident my mom is safe and well cared for.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Meadowbrook Healthcare receives strong praise for clinical and rehabilitative care, facility upkeep, and a family‑oriented atmosphere. Many families emphasize compassionate, attentive nursing and CNA support, a skilled physical‑therapy/regional rehab program, and staff who personalize rooms and engage residents in activities. The campus and common spaces are frequently described as clean, welcoming, and well maintained.

Care and staff: Clinical care and rehab services are a consistent strength. Reviewers highlight knowledgeable therapists, effective physical therapy outcomes, and a medical team that communicates with families. Nursing staff and CNAs are often described as kind, patient, and attentive; several accounts note staff going beyond routine duties to comfort residents and support families. At the same time, there are repeated operational concerns related to staffing levels. Intermittent short‑staffing is linked to slower call‑light responses and occasional delays in medication administration, which some families found impactful to resident comfort and pain control.

Dining, activities, and amenities: Meadowbrook offers an active programming schedule and a range of ancillary services that contribute to resident quality of life — painting, baking, social events, weekly hairstyling, laundry service, and amenities such as jacuzzi baths were cited positively. However, dining quality is inconsistent: while many families had no issues, others cited insufficient portions and disappointing food quality that affected weight and satisfaction. Activities and social engagement are generally seen as strengths that support resident well‑being.

Facilities and operations: The physical environment is widely praised: individualized rooms, tasteful common areas, and diligent housekeeping. Admissions and visitor check‑in have been modernized with kiosks and facial recognition that many visitors find efficient and reassuring for security and infection control. Some visitors, however, expressed confusion about evolving visitation procedures (mask policies, desk vs. kiosk availability) and occasional administrative errors in communications (misnamed texts, signage inconsistencies).

Management and notable patterns: Administration and many front‑line managers receive credit for clear communication and proactive family outreach. Conversely, several reviewers raised serious concerns about human resources and conduct‑management processes — including disagreements over time‑off and bereavement accommodations, and allegations of improper staff conduct — and questioned how such matters are investigated and resolved. These accounts, combined with the staffing variability, suggest potential gaps in employee relations, disciplinary follow‑through, and staffing stability that can affect resident experience.

Bottom line: Meadowbrook appears to be a well‑equipped, rehabilitation‑focused facility with strong clinical teams, supportive ancillary programs, and generally high standards for cleanliness and personalization. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against operational caveats: verify current staffing ratios, ask about medication‑administration and call‑response protocols, review dining menus and portion practices, and discuss the facility’s HR policies for employee conduct and family‑facing issues before placement.

    About Meadowbrook Healthcare

Meadowbrook Healthcare sits in Plattsburgh, New York, and has 287 beds for residents who need skilled nursing and rehabilitation, and because the staff includes skilled nurses who work closely with dieticians, specialists, and different therapists, residents get many services like restorative nursing, physical and occupational therapy, oxygen therapy, and speech therapy, and there's a care team that shares information about each person so plans and help can be tailored, and the medical care unit can handle wound care, pain management, diabetes, and skin concerns, which has led to having the lowest rate of skin issues in the three counties of the North Country, and since they offer both short and long-term stays, people come for subacute rehabilitation when they need extra help after a hospital visit, or for longer periods if more extensive care is required, and nutrition advice is provided, with diet plans set to support individual needs, so the team includes highly trained staff, and there's even a CNA-to-LPN Ladder Program for career growth among employees, but what stands out is they treat each resident as an individual and ask families to be involved, and the large, newly renovated building has many amenities, professional landscaping, outdoor patios, and views toward Lake Champlain and the mountains out back, and inside, residents find a state-of-the-art rehabilitative gym, daily activities for fun and wellbeing, and a variety of healthcare services that match what each person needs, so whether someone needs limited assistance or skilled nursing, subacute care, or specialized help for a health condition, Meadowbrook Healthcare offers it in a calm and comfortable setting where the staff aims to do their best and help people maintain their quality of life.
