    Moved mom here; very happy.

I moved my mom here and have been very happy. Beautiful, clean, newer facility with airy, well-laid-out apartments, lots of activities and amenities, strong rehab and memory-care support, and-most importantly-friendly, responsive, compassionate staff who really listen. Meals are good and communication is excellent; I'd recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The Residence at Quarry Hill is presented predominantly as a well-appointed, newer senior living community with a broad set of amenities and a staff culture that many families describe as compassionate and engaged. Reviewers consistently highlight the facility’s bright, hotel-like environment, apartment-style units with kitchenettes, and a programmatic emphasis on social engagement. The community’s memory-care Reflections unit, active activities schedule, and on-site therapy services are frequently cited as particular strengths.

Care quality and clinical services: Many families report attentive, experienced caregiving and skilled therapy that supports meaningful short-term rehabilitation and longer-term assistance. The community is praised for its clinical leadership, including approachable directors and coordinated transitions between assisted and memory-care levels. At the same time, a minority of families described significant operational concerns around medication handling and prescription-check processes, and there are repeated mentions of limited overnight clinical coverage. These issues suggest variability in clinical reliability that prospective families should clarify during tours and care-planning conversations.

Staff and management: Staffing is often described as compassionate, long-tenured, and family-oriented, with leadership that is visible and responsive. Admissions and director-level staff are commonly noted as transparent and low-pressure in approach. However, reviewers also point to occasional staffing shortages and variability in response times to resident calls. Management strengths include coordinated aftercare and ER-navigation support, but operational gaps such as inconsistent housekeeping execution and laundry/property controls were reported and should be explored further with administrators.

Dining and activities: Dining receives generally positive remarks for presentation, ambiance, flexible hours, and scenic views; many residents enjoy three meals daily and special dining touches. Some comments cite variability in food quality and limited menu variety at times, so meal preferences and sample menus are worth checking in advance. The activities program is robust, with on-site options (movie nights, exercise classes, book clubs, outings) and an active events calendar that supports social engagement and wellness.

Facilities and amenities: The community’s physical environment — new construction, clean common spaces, and a range of amenity spaces (theater, music room, salon, wellness area) — is a strong selling point. Unit configurations vary; reviewers praise spacious one-bedrooms but also note some smaller unit footprints. Practical conveniences such as a courtesy shuttle and proximity to medical providers are positives, while geographic distance from other local services and occasional hallway clutter/organization issues were raised as operational items to monitor.

Notable patterns and guidance for families: The dominant pattern is one of strong relational care, robust programming, and attractive facilities, balanced against operational variability in clinical reliability and service consistency. Prospective residents and families should tour multiple times, ask specific questions about overnight clinical staffing, medication-administration processes, housekeeping/laundry procedures, and visitation policies, and request written descriptions of levels-of-care transitions and emergency response protocols. For families who prioritize an active social setting and high-touch staff relationships, the community may be an excellent fit; for those for whom cost, consistent overnight nursing coverage, or guaranteed daily housekeeping are decisive, further due diligence is recommended.

About The Residence at Quarry Hill

The Residence at Quarry Hill sits at 465 Quarry Hill Road in South Burlington, Vermont, in a pretty wooded area with a view of Lake Champlain, and the building's got stone and wood that give it some real Vermont charm, so folks notice it feels homey but also clean and modern, and right away you'll see staff at the front desk and in the halls, always polite, welcoming, and happy to help with questions or needs, day or night, because they're open 24/7. Residents here can pick from several apartment layouts, from studios to one-bedroom or two-bedroom places with a kitchenette and private full bath, so you've got some choice depending on how much space you want, and every unit is cleaned weekly, with fresh sheets made up for everyone once a week, and if anyone needs help with laundry or anything, the staff takes care of that, too. They serve three meals a day in the dining room, and there's an all-day dining menu for folks who might not want to stick to set meal times, and you can always meet friends in the common room, the library, or even get your hair done at the on-site beauty salon.

The place does a good job with safety, since there's a 24-hour security system and emergency call buttons in the rooms, so families worry less. Everyone can use walking paths and activity rooms, and activities staff put on plenty of things to do, encouraging folks to join in-whether it's crafts, games, or fitness programs. Resident engagement is a focus, and the staff, including med techs, work alongside people to support them however they need, whether that's helping with daily tasks or just being there to talk. The Residence at Quarry Hill calls itself a Continuing Care Retirement Community, or CCRC, because it offers all sorts of care in one spot-independent living for seniors who don't need much help, assisted living for those who require a personal hand now and then, and a special memory care area called Reflections for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, which uses a non-drug approach and tries to focus on the person, not just the disease. There's also a skilled nursing facility and temporary respite care, so if someone needs to recover for a short while after an illness or just wants to try living there for a bit, that's fine, too.

They've got pet-friendly options, everything is handicap accessible, and there's fast internet in common areas and rooms. The place stays tidy, and the grounds have spots for quiet walks or time with visitors. The staff stick with a philosophy of service and hospitality and aim for empathy and mindfulness, especially in their memory care programs, where they want residents to feel heard and respected. The property is close to stores, parks, and medical offices, so taking care of errands or seeing the doctor doesn't require much travel. In all, The Residence at Quarry Hill gives people several options for living arrangements, care, and comfort, and it changes with a person's needs as time goes by, which can give folks and their families some peace of mind.
