    Trusted, caring small home environment

Overall a very good experience. I trusted Shauna's medical background and found the owner and professional, friendly staff genuinely caring - my mother was safe, comfortable, and well cared for during her six-month stay in a beautiful, home-like setting with cozy common areas, deck and fenced yard. Attention to detail, great food, quick problem resolution, and the peace of mind this small, organized home provided make it a place I'd recommend to families.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression Reviews describe Serenity Falls Family Care Home as a small, private-home option that many families experience as warm, personal, and clinically attentive. Positive comments emphasize a caring staff, a hands-on owner with a medical background, and a residential atmosphere that prioritizes individualized comfort. The physical setting—comfortable bedrooms, cozy common areas, and secure outdoor space including a deck and fenced backyard—contributes to frequent characterizations of the facility as a true “home” rather than an institutional environment.

Care quality and staff Care is consistently praised for being compassionate and attentive; reviewers use terms such as loving, nurturing, and professional to describe caregivers. Several families highlight the owner’s involvement and medical knowledge as a reason they felt confident leaving loved ones in the facility’s care. Staff are described as organized and personable, and many accounts note quick responsiveness when issues arise. At the same time, there are isolated but substantive concerns: some reviewers point to inconsistent staffing patterns and turnover, and a few describe lapses in timely personal-care assistance. These comments suggest variability in day-to-day reliability that prospective families should clarify when touring.

Dining, activities, and daily life Dining is generally well regarded—reviewers refer to very good food and family-style service. The home-like environment and personal touches are credited with supporting residents’ comfort and social engagement. Explicit activity programming is not widely detailed in the summaries provided; the emphasis is more on individualized attention, comfort, and outdoor access for residents rather than on a structured activity calendar. The setting and staff approach appear well suited for seniors who need increased assistance but benefit from a domestic atmosphere.

Facilities and management Physical facilities receive positive remarks for being attractive and comfortable. Multiple accounts note well-kept indoor spaces and pleasant outdoor areas. Management presence—especially the owner’s visible engagement—is cited as a strength that provides reassurance to families. However, there are allegations that raise governance and administration questions, including claims about financial or ownership irregularities and variability in managerial professionalism. While these appear to be less common than the positive reports, they are serious enough that they merit direct inquiry.

Notable patterns and recommendations The dominant pattern across the summaries is of a small, caring provider that many families trust for hands-on, personalized care. Counterbalancing that are intermittent reports of staffing instability, occasional delays in personal-care assistance, and isolated but serious claims regarding financial or management practices. Prospective residents and families should prioritize in-person visits, verify current staffing ratios and turnover statistics, ask about procedures for responding to personal-care needs, and review financial/administrative documentation (contracts, payment policies, and licensing/inspection records). Requesting references from current families and confirming any regulatory history will help clarify whether the positive operational characteristics are consistent and whether the isolated concerns have been addressed.

About Serenity Falls Family Care Home

Serenity Falls Family Care Home sits in Raleigh, NC, close to major parts of the city and easy to reach for towns like Mint Hill, Concord, Wilmington, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Gastonia, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Huntersville, Hickory, Holly Springs, and Apex, serving many families looking for a peaceful, steady option for senior care, and you find the place has a gentle, home-like feel set among scenic surroundings with pleasant indoor areas and a fenced backyard deck for fresh air and quiet relaxation, and the place stays open around the clock so seniors get support day and night, from a caring group of staff who always try to do what's best for each person, and the owner, Shauna Tharpe, is involved and keeps an eye on things, keeping care consistent and personal.

The home offers a mix of care levels, including independent living, assisted living, memory care for folks with dementia or other memory issues, and actual nursing home services for those needing more help than most assisted living places give but still not quite to the level of a full skilled nursing facility, along with in-home non-medical care for people who just need some extra help but want to stay in their own space. Rooms range from studio and single-parent units to two-bedroom and include options for both private and semi-private setups, so families can choose whatever fits their needs best. Daily living help covers bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and eating, and the staff handle medication management, take care of laundry and housekeeping, and make sure everyone has good food with home-cooked, well-balanced meals every day.

On top of the regular care, there are services like on-site nurse visits and wound care, podiatry, occupational therapy, and special help for seniors recovering or needing hospice care, and each resident gets a care plan made just for them. People get to take part in things like arts and crafts, health programs, walks, social outings, music, and exercise, with common spaces set up for gathering, a fitness room, and a small salon and barbershop. For the comfort and safety of those living there, homes have walk-in tubs, medical alert systems, and other features for easy movement or emergencies, plus cable TV, Wi-Fi, guest parking, and even help for caregivers, including transportation.

Serenity Falls Family Care Home tries to make life easy and calm, focusing on comfort and safety, and families tend to appreciate the honest, steady care provided here. The staff handles things like dressing, walking, and support with wheelchairs, keeps up regular outings, and even arranges transportation to doctor visits, so seniors stay active and connected. Reviews from families point to a respectful and compassionate team, and the registered nurse owner makes sure every resident feels secure and at home, with access to medical help any hour of the day. The home accepts long-term care insurance, and the environment is simple but warm, with plenty of little comforts to help seniors feel settled in their new space.
