I placed my loved one here and I'm very pleased - the staff are compassionate, attentive and responsive, the building is clean and secure, and the clinical/therapy team really helped with mobility. Move-in was smooth, meals have good variety, activities and outdoor spaces are nice, and new management is making positive changes. I feel real peace of mind knowing residents are well cared for in a warm, professional setting.

Summary of reviews
Sanford Manor Memory Care elicits strongly mixed impressions. Many families praise individual caregivers and therapy staff for compassionate, attentive daily care and functional gains (notably improved standing and mobility with therapy). Admissions and move-in logistics are frequently described as smooth and supportive, with some families noting helpful orientation, a gift basket, and a staff “buddy” to assist during transition. The facility offers private-room options, on-site amenities such as a hair stylist and gardening space, outdoor recreational areas, and ongoing renovations intended to modernize common spaces. Proximity to a hospital and local family members, along with competitive pricing relative to other memory-care options, are commonly cited practical advantages.
At the same time, reviews indicate notable operational inconsistencies that prospective families should evaluate carefully. Housekeeping and sanitation practices appear uneven: some visitors and families describe a clean, calm environment, while others report sanitation concerns, odor issues in particular areas, and evidence of pest-control problems. Laundry and personal-property controls are another recurring concern: incidents of ruined clothing, improperly laundered items, and missing belongings point to weaknesses in property handling processes and inventory controls.
Clinical and safety-related patterns are mixed. Several families report effective physical therapy and attentive caregiving that improve residents’ mobility and wellbeing; however, other accounts raise concerns about medication management, gaps in routine checks, pressure-injury prevention, and falls. These items translate to broader questions about clinical oversight, staffing levels, and adherence to care protocols. Communication with families is another recurrent theme: many reviewers describe responsive, daily updates and prompt issue resolution, yet a substantial number of communications complaints reference unanswered phone calls, delayed lab result communication, and limited documentation of physician visits.
Staffing and management present a fractured picture. Numerous reviews praise individual staff members and describe a caring team culture; conversely, other reviews cite high turnover, perceptions of understaffing, distracted staff behavior, and sharply critical accounts of supervisory conduct that have allegedly led to staff departures. Management changes and a newly appointed director are described by some as driving positive improvements and increased responsiveness, while others characterize transitional leadership as a source of tension. Activity programming is available and includes on-site events and visiting entertainers, but opportunities for consistent off-site outings and a broader activity calendar appear uneven—some limitations were linked to pandemic-related restrictions.
In short, Sanford Manor appears to provide solid strengths in individualized caregiving, physical therapy, and some aspects of hospitality and affordability, but it also demonstrates inconsistent performance in housekeeping, property controls, medication/clinical oversight, family communication, and supervisory stability. Prospective families should tour the facility, ask for documentation on staffing ratios, medication-administration protocols, incident reporting, pest-control and housekeeping schedules, laundry/property handling procedures, and examples of recent activity calendars before making a placement decision.

About Sanford Manor Memory Care
Sanford Manor Memory Care sits at 1107-1115 Carthage Street in Sanford, NC, inside Sanford Senior Living and Manor, and it's a community licensed as a Home for the Aged by the State of North Carolina, which means the building and staff follow rules made to keep older adults safe and comfortable. The memory care program here was made for people with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, so the building's design, the secure outdoor areas, and the staff training all revolve around safety and support for those with memory loss-like door alerts if someone exits, enclosed courtyards so people can get fresh air but not wander off, and private suites or bedrooms, sometimes with a kitchenette for simple snacks or drinks if a resident can manage. There are both private and semi-private rooms, which lets folks pick the comfort and privacy they want.
The staff stays on-site and awake all night, with full shifts around the clock, to make sure help is there whenever needed, and everyone working with residents is trained in Alzheimer's and dementia care, watching over medications and providing specialized therapies based on each resident's needs. Residents get individual care plans, which means staff look at everyone's unique abilities and routines to help with daily tasks while trying to keep people as independent as possible. There's home health care and hospice when it's needed, and Sanford Manor Memory Care also supports assisted living for those who may not need as much memory care but do need help with things like meals, bathing, or getting dressed.
People living at Sanford Manor Memory Care have plenty to do if they're able, from group events and social gatherings planned by a full-time activity director to organized devotional services for those who want spiritual support, and beauty salons for haircuts and self-care. Residents can relax inside common areas or take part in educational, social, and entertaining activities aimed at keeping minds and bodies active. The place keeps a home-like feeling, serving meals, doing housekeeping, and encouraging family and friends to keep strong ties with residents to help them feel rooted and connected. The environment has features focused on dignity and respect in daily living, which lets residents age in comfort without feeling like they've lost the friendly parts of daily life.
Sanford Manor Memory Care holds a community rating of 6.4 out of 10 and ranks fourth highest in Sanford for memory care, which people should know when comparing options. It's also close to Central Carolina Hospital and other medical services, so health needs beyond day-to-day assistance are not far away. Overall, Sanford Manor Memory Care tries to give seniors a safe, welcoming setting with experienced staff, a comfortable living space, and support for both health and social needs, focusing on memory care and personalized attention as folks age.
