    Warm, organized, compassionate family-like care

I placed my mom here and have been very pleased. The staff - especially Mary and Steve Miles and caregivers Shirley and Jenny - were warm, organized and responsive, even present during my mom's final moments. The facility is clean, homey and quiet with great activities (pool, water aerobics, bingo, clubs), delicious meals with takeout, on-site therapy, gardening and handy amenities. Monthly outings, reasonable pricing and a truly family-like atmosphere gave us comfort and peace of mind; I'm grateful for the compassionate, attentive care.

    Summary of reviews

Countryside is consistently described as a community with strong social programming and a resident-centered atmosphere. Reviewers praise an active activities schedule that includes water aerobics, exercise classes, games (bingo, Wii bowling, bridge), book and Bible study groups, and regular bus outings. The resident community is characterized as friendly and engaged, and the campus offers attractive outdoor spaces, a pool, and opportunities for gardening.

Staff performance is a prominent strength for many families: admissions coordination and on-site caregivers are regularly described as organized, compassionate, and responsive. Several accounts emphasize attentive end-of-life support and emotionally supportive care. Maintenance and housekeeping teams, as well as on-site amenities such as a beauty shop, therapy, and x-ray services, further contribute to a homey, well-kept environment.

Dining quality is generally viewed positively — food is often called delicious, with takeout options available — but the facility’s meal model varies by living level. Independent-living cottages receive limited meal service (commonly one meal per day), which may factor into choices for residents who require fuller dining support. A small number of reviewers noted kitchen errors related to dietary restrictions, indicating a need for clearer meal-tracking and accommodations in some cases.

Clinical and day-to-day care show mixed patterns. While many families report compassionate and attentive caregivers, others describe inconsistent medication administration, delays in personal-care assistance, and variability in clinical responsiveness. These patterns suggest fluctuating staffing continuity or workload pressures at times. A few reviewers raised serious concerns about staff conduct and employee-treatment issues; management responsiveness has been praised in other comments, but these conflicting impressions point to uneven experiences across households and shifts.

Facility features are a mix of positives and trade-offs. Units and common areas are generally kept clean and comfortable, with accessible single-level layouts and some spacious floorplans. At the same time, the building has older elements: some units are small, overhead lighting is limited in places, and in-unit laundry is not standard. Indoor smoking by grandfathered residents has produced odor concerns in some common hallways. Costs are another consideration: utilities and certain services may not be included in base rent, and the campus location is remote for some families.

Overall, Countryside appears to offer a strong social environment, attentive admissions and many compassionate caregivers, and a broad activities and amenity set that many families value. Prospective residents should weigh those strengths against operational considerations — particularly meal-service levels for independent living, in-unit amenity limitations, and occasional inconsistencies in day-to-day clinical responsiveness and staff conduct — and discuss specific care plans, dietary accommodations, and fee inclusions with management during the tour and admission process.
