    Kind attentive care; home-like environment

I feel well cared for here - staff are kind, professional, and non-judgmental; the DON and nurses are attentive, meds and medical support are timely, and therapy/rehab is excellent. Activities are engaging and family-friendly, transportation and discharge planning are reliable, and it really feels like a home I can recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewer feedback for West Park Neurology & Rehab is highly polarized. A sizable portion of comments praise the facilityโ€™s rehabilitation services and particular staff members, while an equal or greater portion raise operational and safety concerns. The overall picture is of a center that can deliver strong, effective therapy and compassionate bedside care in some units or shifts, but that also exhibits recurring reliability and environment problems that affect resident experience.

Care quality and clinical services: Many reviewers highlight a strong therapy department with diligent physical and occupational therapy and good discharge planning. Some residents and families reported timely medication administration and effective addiction counseling support. Conversely, there are recurring concerns about clinical oversight: gaps in medication management and monitoring, delays in emergency response and follow-up communication, and inconsistent nursing attentiveness across shifts. These patterns suggest variability in clinical performance depending on staffing and unit coverage.

Staff and management: Specific staff members and teams receive frequent praise for professionalism, compassion, and family-inclusive planning. At the same time, reviewers describe inconsistent professionalism and training among other staff, with complaints about inattentive or unempathetic interactions. Several comments point to management and oversight shortcomings that allow variability in staff performance and accountability. There are also serious allegations related to theft and property handling that indicate weaknesses in security and administrative controls.

Dining and activities: Activity programming and community outings are commonly cited as strengths; families note engaging events, field trips, and activities staff who involve residents and visitors positively. Dining receives mixed feedback: some residents find the meals acceptable or good, while others report inconsistent quality or interruptions in meal service. This suggests that dining experience may vary by time, unit, or staffing levels.

Facilities and cleanliness: Multiple reviewers raised sanitation concerns, pest-control issues, and problems with room maintenance and cleanliness. Accessibility and room size were also inconsistentโ€”some residents had accessible showers and comfortable rooms initially, while others experienced cramped rooms or loss of accessible bathrooms after transfers. These environmental issues appear to be an important contributor to negative perceptions of the facility.

Notable patterns and guidance: The dominant pattern is variabilityโ€”high-performing therapy and several compassionate staff coexist with uneven housekeeping, staffing reliability, clinical oversight, and facility maintenance. Prospective residents and families should verify current staffing levels, inspect specific rooms for cleanliness and accessibility, ask about pest-control measures, review medication-management and emergency-response protocols, and meet therapy leaders and nursing leadership. Checking the facilityโ€™s most recent inspection and incident history and requesting references from current long-term residents may help assess whether operational issues have been addressed or remain ongoing.

About West Park Neurology & Rehab

West Park Neurology & Rehab, sitting at 4401 W. 150th St. in Cleveland, Ohio, focuses mainly on caring for people with neurological conditions or those needing rehabilitation, offering a mix of long-term and short-term stays, with both Medicare and Medicaid certification so residents can use those benefits. The facility stands out for its Joseph E. Coury Therapy Center, which has a 1,500-square-foot area built to look and feel like a real home, helping people practice daily activities before heading back to their own places, and this special center, along with other rehab services, aims to help residents regain as much independence as they can, especially after surgery, injuries, or illness. They provide a wide range of care-physical, occupational, and speech therapies, plus cardiac, stroke, orthopedic, and respiratory therapy, as well as care for wounds, chronic illnesses, diabetes, and help with IV antibiotics, medication management, and total parenteral nutrition. Older adults can also find mental health support and memory care, and specialist visits in podiatry, optometry, audiology, pharmacy, dental care, and psychology, so all sorts of specialty needs get handled here, and meals, nutritional counseling, beauty and barber services, and daily activities round out the support for day-to-day life. Staff services include skilled nursing, physician visits, therapy, and help with daily living, plus there are hospice and respite stays for folks who just need short-term help, and the rehab programs are broad, meaning both inpatient and outpatient therapy options, all staffed with registered caregivers and medical staff, with hours tracked per person. Transportation is available for residents' appointments, and semi-private rooms are offered as living options. The main focus stays on supporting seniors and adults after neurological illnesses, strokes, injuries, or surgeries, but there's also help for memory care and mental wellness, and they even include behavioral health programs. The state has flagged the facility for abuse in the past year, so it's important to note that concern, and inspection results over time have gone from B-minus to A, which gives a rough idea of performance. A review score of 2.3 from 12 reviews means some mixed feedback from families and residents. West Park Neurology & Rehab is part of the West Park Health Care Campus, and has a website where you can read more about their services if you want details in advance.
