    Mother improved with caring staff

My mother improved a lot during her stay - the kind administrator and aides Iesha and Kelliyah went above and beyond, and the physical therapy was very effective. Staff handled calls and check-ins reliably; the building was spotless with no odors and had secure entry. Close to OSU East and offering activities like bingo, karaoke and checkers, I felt very reassured by the care.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewer accounts for this facility are highly mixed, with distinct clusters of positive and negative experiences. On the positive side, several families praised individual caregivers and frontline aides for compassionate, hands-on assistance; named staff were credited with going beyond expectations. Rehabilitation services and physical therapy were noted as effective by some residents, and the facility offers a range of activities (bingo, karaoke, games) and secure entry systems. Proximity to a major hospital (OSU East) and reports of clean, well-maintained common areas were additional strengths cited by certain visitors.

Care-quality concerns are a prominent theme among negative accounts. Families described clinical gaps that include delayed or missed medication doses, missed antibiotic administration, issues with IV handling, and emergency transfers to higher levels of care. Multiple accounts raised fall-related safety issues and gaps in fall-prevention protocols and timely staff response. Reports of infections and subsequent hospital readmissions were also noted. Together these items suggest intermittent weaknesses in clinical coordination, medication management, and incident response.

Staffing and management present a mixed picture. Many reviewers commended individual staff members and a few administrators for responsiveness and resident-centered attention. At the same time, there are recurring comments about short staffing, long response times for personal care (including toileting and bedpan assistance), and variable staff professionalism or bedside manner. Communication breakdowns with families were frequently mentioned โ€” difficulty contacting staff, missed notifications about hospital transfers or changes in condition, and inconsistent follow-up from management.

Dining and activities showed variability. Several reviewers found activities adequate and helpful for engagement, and some described meals as acceptable; however, others reported cold meals, missed food deliveries, long gaps between meals, and general dissatisfaction with food quality and service continuity. Prospective families may wish to observe a mealtime and review meal-delivery policies.

Facility and maintenance issues were also reported with some regularity. Concerns include sanitation and odor issues in certain resident areas, pest-control problems, broken or damaged furnishings and equipment, elevator and infrastructure outages, and water/ceiling leaks. There is at least one account describing a serious medical-equipment safety event that prompted contact with state authorities; cumulatively, these entries point to gaps in routine maintenance and medical-equipment oversight.

Overall pattern and guidance: experiences range from positive, family-oriented care with effective therapy services to accounts of significant operational lapses (staffing, sanitation, medication coordination, and maintenance). When evaluating this provider, families should request current inspection and incident reports, inquire about staffing ratios and on-shift coverage, review medication-administration and infection-control policies, ask how the facility communicates clinical changes to families, and tour during peak service times (mealtimes, medication rounds, and activity periods) to assess consistency. Verification of corrective actions for any serious past incidents and confirmation of equipment maintenance logs is recommended.

    About Bella Terrace

Bella Terrace Rehabilitation and Nursing Center sits in Columbus, OH as an event venue and skilled nursing community, providing services for people who need both daily help and medical support, and while some know it for an elegant ambiance, what really stands out is how it's got professional chef-prepared meals, restaurant-style dining, and special diets for allergies or diabetes, plus all-day dining so there's always a meal if someone's hungry at an odd hour. Residents get furnished rooms with private bathrooms, cable TV, kitchenettes, phones, and Wi-Fi, and there's housekeeping, laundry, and dry cleaning, which makes everyday chores easier, and even though the center can serve up to 96 people, the daily average hovers around 79 with 16 beds available as of June 2025. Nursing staff give 12-16 hours of skilled care each day and there's 24-hour medical care, so folks with mobility issues or serious illness have help with bathing, dressing, transfers, and other daily needs, and for those who need rehab between the hospital and home, short-term rehabilitation, soft tissue mobilization, and posture support are all on offer. The center serves people with dementia, folks in need of palliative or hospice support, and offers both skilled nursing and intermediate care for the frail, plus it takes Medicare and Medicaid, making payment a bit easier for some families, though it's important to know that Bella Terrace runs as a for-profit business and holds a staff nurse turnover rate near 57.6%, which could be a concern for some. Move-in coordination helps new folks settle in, and both resident and family councils meet to talk over concerns or try to improve how things run, while policies exist to protect resident rights and make sure there's notice before someone moves out or is transferred. While some might enjoy the spa and sauna, fitness room, library, arts room, movie theater, music rooms, and outdoor spaces with gardens and walking paths, there's also a packed calendar of activities like arts and crafts, movie nights, and resident-organized clubs, but inspection reports have noted some recent problems with infection prevention. Bella Terrace stays accessible with tools for changing text size or color, and clinic staff provide services in English. Bella Terrace runs under the Sherman Family name and is a certified Skilled Nursing Facility, and people living here have access to a wide mix of care options, daily support, and a community with both leisure and medical attention nearby.
