    Compassionate attentive staff and care

I had a very positive stay - compassionate, attentive nurses, aides and therapists treated me like family, kept us informed, and provided excellent, responsive rehab care. The building felt clean, safe and homey, the food and activities were good, and admissions/leadership (shout-outs to Tonya and Moni) were professional and helpful.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a polarized portrait of The Convalarium of Dublin: several families describe consistently high-quality clinical and rehabilitative care, while others raise operational and safety concerns. Positive comments emphasize a compassionate, professional caregiving team, strong therapy services (physical, respiratory, speech), supportive social work, and an admissions process with attentive follow-up. Many reviewers praised private, suite-like rooms, a quiet environment, and culinary staff who accommodate dietary needs. When the facilityโ€™s clinical processes are functioning well, reviewers described regular physician contact, timely medication administration, comprehensive therapy plans, and a welcoming, home-like atmosphere.

Counterbalancing those positive reports are repeated operational weaknesses that affect residentsโ€™ day-to-day experience. Staffing inconsistencyโ€”notably during nights and eveningsโ€”and slow responses to call lights or assistance requests recur across reviews. Several families described medication-management lapses, delayed or misplaced doses, and inconsistent documentation availability. Dining is a mixed area: while some praise menu flexibility and accommodating kitchen staff, others describe limited choices, processed offerings, and occasional lapses in dietary adherence. Cleanliness and sanitation concerns in certain units and common areas, along with pest-control and supply shortages, were raised multiple times.

Safety and equipment issues appear as another pattern. Reviewers flagged inadequate bariatric and mobility-assist equipment, limited use of bed-alarm or rail safeguards, and fall-prevention practice gaps. These operational shortcomings were sometimes accompanied by delayed family notification after clinical events. Communication and managerial consistency are uneven: several accounts credit specific administrators and staff for swift problem resolution and a leadership-driven turnaround, while other accounts describe distant management, accountability gaps, and allegations of property mishandling and dishonesty.

Taken together, the pattern suggests uneven performance across shifts, units, and time. The facility demonstrates clear strengths in rehabilitative services, individualized therapy, and in many cases compassionate caregiving and dietary accommodation. At the same time, systemic issuesโ€”staffing variability, call-response delays, medication controls, cleanliness, equipment for complex care, and inconsistent management oversightโ€”are recurring themes that prospective residents and families should evaluate. Visiting the unit(s) where an individual would reside, asking about night staffing ratios, fall-prevention protocols, medication-administration procedures, dietary accommodations, and recent quality-improvement actions (including leadership changes) will help form a clearer, risk-adjusted decision for placement.

    About The Convalarium of Dublin

The Convalarium of Dublin is a nursing and rehab facility with 90 certified beds and offers skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care for residents dealing with a range of health needs, and while the place provides services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and has round-the-clock skilled nursing care, the inspection reports show it's had a total of 72 deficiencies, including seven for infection control and some violations related to nutrition and dietary standards. The staff works to assist with bathing, dressing, medication management, transfers, and other daily needs, and residents get about 4.22 nurse hours per day, though the turnover rate for nurses is quite high at 75.5%. The leadership team includes Adam Cusner, Jeffrey Degyansky, Eliezer Goldish, Solomon Kazarnovsky, and Abba Stein, and it operates under Lionstone Care. Meal preparation allows for special diets like diabetes and allergies, and the dining areas have home-cooked meals served restaurant-style, with options for group socializing and special events.

Seniors find furnished rooms, private rehab suites, and some independent living cottages, and there's a courtyard, walking paths, a garden, an inviting patio, indoor community areas, and games like tabletop bowling and ring toss. The facility supports residents with memory care who may have Alzheimer's or dementia and offers therapy, incontinence, diabetic, and non-ambulatory care. Daily life centers on activities, outings, devotional events, and helpful services like laundry, dry cleaning, room cleaning, and complimentary transportation and parking, and the staff aims to keep the environment clean and safe, providing an emergency alert system for the residents' well-being. People who've lived here for several years mention a supportive environment that makes recovery and wellness a focus, and the facility maintains ties with local health plans for care coordination. There's consistent supervision and professional help available any time of day, while residents enjoy access to private bathrooms, lounges, and a pleasant social setting. The Convalarium of Dublin caters to both short-term rehab stays and long-term residency and is fully wheelchair accessible, while the staff works to keep everyone as healthy, safe, and engaged as possible in their community, though it should be noted that inspection reports do document ongoing issues, especially regarding infection control and nurse retention.
