    Loving attentive care, beautiful facility

I'm very pleased with the care my loved one received - staff were loving, attentive, and went above and beyond, keeping me informed and even facilitating visits with devices during COVID. The facility is beautiful, spotless and peaceful with engaging activities, great meals, strong rehab and hospice collaboration, and compassionate end-of-life care. I highly recommend this family-focused community.

    Summary of reviews

Park Village Southside is described as a new, well-maintained senior living campus with bright, attractive interiors and apartment-style units that emphasize independent living comforts. Units commonly include full kitchens, in-unit laundry, garages or cottages, screened porches, and accessible bathrooms with walk-in showers. Housekeeping and common-area sanitation are frequently highlighted as strengths. On-site amenities — including a café, barber/beauty salon, exercise room, and outdoor patio spaces — support daily convenience and social life.

Care and staffing are central strengths in many accounts. Families and residents emphasize compassionate bedside care, attentive nursing and therapy teams, and personalized assistance from aides. The community reports coordinated rehabilitation services and the presence of 24/7 clinical oversight in an adjoining building, together with positive working relationships with physicians and nurse practitioners. Several comments reflect a family-owned leadership style and long-term commitment from management, which residents and families described as creating a home-like culture.

Dining and activities receive consistent positive mention: gourmet-style meals, accommodation of preferences, birthday and special-event dining, and an active calendar of music, games, exercise time, and outdoor events. Social programming appears oriented toward engagement and inclusion, with staff facilitating visits and virtual contacts during infection-control periods when needed. Families also note practical services such as snow removal, lawn care, and assisted-living transition options that simplify long-term planning.

Notable patterns of concern center on operational consistency. Multiple accounts point to intermittent staffing shortages that can affect service reliability, and there are specific concerns about the tone and responsiveness of some front-office staff and admissions communication. A few families perceived a mismatch between the facility’s attractive appearance and occasional variability in day-to-day care interactions. Transparency around extra charges (for example, optional furnishings or ancillary items) was raised as a point to clarify before move-in. Finally, while many found the price comparable to competitors, the community may be above what highly price-sensitive families are seeking.

For prospective residents and families: the facility presents many tangible strengths — modern units, strong housekeeping, engaging programming, and clinically supported care pathways — paired with a supportive, family-oriented management culture. Visitors should confirm current staffing levels and patterns, ask for specifics about any ancillary fees, and review tour and visitation policies (including how the community manages access during infection-control events) to ensure expectations about communication and day-to-day operations align with family priorities.

    About Park Village Southside

Park Village Southside sits at 1019 Oldtown Valley Rd SE, right in the heart of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and it's a big place, about 90,000 square feet, where seniors find all levels of care, so you'll notice they've got independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and even rehabilitation and respite care all together, which means people can move through different care levels without leaving the community. The independent living area has duplex cottages that come with full kitchens, living and dining spaces, two bedrooms, a laundry room, screened-in porch, and a one-car garage, so residents who want more privacy and space have a place, while the assisted living section has 72 units that range from studios to two-bedroom apartments, and the skilled nursing part includes 38 private rehab and nursing units, including two suites for extra comfort. Residents find good food here in four dining rooms, two private dining rooms for family visits, and a café, and there's meal preparation with options for special diets. Park Village Southside offers a game room, library, two large areas for activities, a chapel, a theater, a two-story atrium with a water feature, and common areas with fireplaces, so there are several places to gather or enjoy quiet moments. The outdoor space includes patios, a garden, walking trails, and there's even a one-acre pond for peaceful views or strolls. The staff help with bathing, dressing, transfers, medication, and move-in coordination, and there's 24-hour supervision with a call system, which gives residents and families peace of mind. They'll tackle many healthcare needs, such as diabetic care, incontinence care, and non-ambulatory care, plus they cover rehabilitation, palliative care, adult day care, and hospice, and they accept Medicare and Medicaid. Residents or visitors often notice the barber and salon, spa, fitness room, business room, and scheduled transportation. Devotional activities happen on site, and off-site outings keep life interesting, while legal protections for residents cover many backgrounds and identities. Pets aren't allowed here, and while there's talk of parking and transportation, there's little about those details. The staff work hard to make the place safe, clean, and caring, and Park Village Southside's been reviewed as offering high-quality care, all run by Park Village Al Np LLC, a for-profit company. The community offers a secure and modern setting, fitting for seniors with different needs who want a place with many services and spaces to enjoy as they get older.
