    Caring professional staff, clean facility

I stayed here and was very pleased. The nurses, aides and therapists were caring, professional and genuinely helpful, and management (including the DON) was compassionate and responsive. My roomy, clean private room and the excellent meals delivered to my door made life easy, and the facility is neat, organized and well-run - I even enjoyed the carnival event. My health improved under their care and I would recommend this nursing home.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews describe a facility with highly polarized experiences: several families and residents praise hands-on caregivers, therapy outcomes, and well-run social programs, while others raise repeated operational concerns. Positive accounts emphasize compassionate frontline staff, effective therapy services, private and spacious rooms, organized common areas, and regular events such as music, parties, and chapel services. Some residents reported measurable health improvements and satisfaction with aspects of nursing leadership and food delivery to rooms.

At the same time, many reviews identify persistent operational weaknesses that affect daily care. Staffing inconsistency and understaffing are recurring themes, with reported delays responding to call lights and a perception that aides are not always available for routine rounds. These staffing issues tie into inconsistent personal-care routines (bathing and incontinence-care support) and unreliable housekeeping and laundry practices, which contribute to sanitation concerns and intermittent odor issues in parts of the building.

Dining and nutrition appear variable: while some residents expressed satisfaction with meals, others described cold food, delays, limited menu fulfillment, and instances where dietary needs (for example, diabetic meal considerations) were not consistently addressed. Infection-control practices and PPE compliance were also questioned by reviewers, and there are noted concerns about agency staff familiarity with facility protocols.

Facility maintenance and safety receive attention as well. Reports include broken equipment, leaks, missing safety covers, and limited handicap-access or awkward parking, suggesting gaps in routine maintenance and safety oversight. Pest-control concerns and allegations of theft or improper property handling were raised and would merit further investigation. Several reviewers also cited restrictive visitation policies and challenges with administrative responsiveness and supervisory follow-up, which compound family frustration when clinical or operational issues arise.

In sum, the facility presents a mixed profile: pockets of strong, person-centered care and effective therapy coexist with systemic operational and managerial shortcomings. For prospective residents and families, the most salient considerations are the facility’s current staffing stability, housekeeping and laundry processes, dining reliability, infection-control practices, and management responsiveness. Visiting in person, meeting the unit leadership, and asking for recent staffing, inspection, and maintenance records would help evaluate whether the positive aspects observed by other families are consistent and whether the operational concerns have been addressed.

    About Suburban Healthcare and Rehabilitation

Suburban Healthcare and Rehabilitation sits in North Randall, Ohio, at the corner of Miles Road and Emery Road, and runs as a 150-bed skilled nursing facility, usually caring for about 114 residents daily, where people can find long-term care, hospice care, short-term rehab, memory care, respite care, and specialized onsite dialysis including the Dialyze Direct Program and tracheostomy support, which can help folks who need extra kidney support without leaving the center, and that's something not every place offers. Staff here give physical, occupational, and speech therapy, and there's a Casino Room for recreation, making for a homelike setting that tries to promote community even while some areas need attention. Management by Garhill Integrated Management LLC started in February 2022, with Suburban Holdco LLC as the owner, along with indirect owners North Randall Opco LLC, Suburban Nursing LLC, Mayer Guttman, and Naftali Shapiro, and this facility is part of CommuniCare, a group known for operating several healthcare locations. Inspection reports have noted infections, nutrition, and food handling problems, plus they've come up short on providing enough food and fluids to residents at times, and overall, nurse staffing hours are lower than the statewide average, with staff turnover a bit higher too, meaning the team might be stretched thinner than at some other places, which could affect the daily routine or attention to detail. The place says it focuses on giving person-centered care and helping residents stay engaged and as independent as they can, and the staff do offer care planning for health and comfort, but it's always wise to look closely at inspection reports and ask lots of questions, since this facility has had a pattern of quality issues over the years according to government records, especially involving infection control and nutrition.
