    Compassionate bilingual rehab, excellent care

I placed my dad here for orthopedic post-op rehab and am overall very satisfied - Maria and the bilingual, attentive care team are compassionate, professional, and consistently go above and beyond. The food is excellent, private rehab rooms are spacious and spotless, activities and transportation keep residents engaged, and the director and staff treated our family like family, even helping with a smooth hospice transition. I highly recommend this safe, caring facility for personalized senior care.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews for the facility are strongly positive in areas of cleanliness, staff engagement, and resident quality of life. Multiple families describe a well-maintained physical environment, private and comfortable rehab rooms, and features such as a veterans' garden and bird-friendly outdoor spaces that contribute to residents' sense of wellbeing and community.

Care and staff: Caregivers and leadership receive frequent praise for compassionate, personalized attention. Commenters highlight a family-style approach where staff go beyond basic tasks to prepare residents for outings, assist with grooming and appearance, and help maintain residents' spirits. A number of comments single out a Spanish-speaking aide (Maria) and the facility director for consistent involvement and effective communication. High staff morale and teamwork are recurring themes, and families describe staff who are attentive, affectionate, and willing to organize individualized activities or transitions such as hospice placement when appropriate.

Dining, activities, and therapy: Meals are commonly described as enjoyable and well-liked. The activity program appears broad and active, with exercise classes, music, group lunches out, and scheduled day trips supported by facility transportation. Rehabilitation services are also emphasized — private post-operative rehab rooms and orthopedic-focused therapy receive positive mention, and reviewers credit clinical staff with effective recovery outcomes.

Facilities and operations: The physical plant and common areas are repeatedly described as spotless and well maintained. Specific amenities called out include a warm bathing area with appropriate equipment, spacious private rooms, and reliable transportation for off-site activities. Administrative staff are characterized as organized and communicative, keeping families updated on changes.

Notable patterns and concerns: While the overall tenor of feedback is favorable, there are isolated but meaningful concerns about consistency in personal-care tasks. A small number of accounts point to lapses in grooming and attention to particular clinical hygiene tasks (for example, eye or ear care). These remarks suggest occasional variability in staff responsiveness or in follow-through on individualized care plans rather than a pervasive, facility-wide failure.

Advice for prospective families: The balance of reviews suggests a facility that offers strong social programming, attentive staff, and a clean, comfortable environment. Prospective residents and families should consider touring the unit to observe staffing patterns, ask about bathing schedules and specific hygiene protocols, and request examples of how individualized care plans are documented and followed across shifts. Doing so can help verify the consistent delivery of the personalized attention that many families praised.

    About Heritage Manor - Youngstown

Heritage Manor Rehabilitation & Retirement Community with Adult Day Services sits on a 22-acre campus of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation, offering skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and adult day services in a calm, home-like setting. The community has 72 certified beds and provides only private rooms, each with its own bathroom, air conditioning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and kitchenette. Trained nurses are always on-site for 24-hour supervision, medication management, and help with bathing, dressing, and other daily needs. Heritage Manor puts safety first with features like sprinkler systems, emergency alert buttons, and handicap access throughout the building.

The community offers a wide range of individualized care plans, from short-term rehab and respite care to long-term skilled nursing and assistance with memory care. Adult Day Services let people join for the daytime, taking part in activities, social events, and receiving support while their loved ones are at work or need a break. Residents and clients get to join in many programs meant to help them stay active and involved, including arts and crafts, painting with artist guides, gardening, live music, pet visits, movie nights, fitness and wellness classes, and parties. There are large outdoor courtyards and picnic spaces, walking paths, gardens, and safe places to gather or spend time outside.

Heritage Manor provides kosher meals and can prepare food for special diets like diabetes. The dining room has restaurant-style service, and staff offer help to those who need it. There's a small library, a movie theater, a fitness center, a beauty salon, a game room, computers, and a business room for daily use. Housekeeping and linen services, laundry, transportation for appointments and outings, and help moving in are all available. Residents can join either community activities or run their own programs, fostering a sense of involvement.

The community focuses on compassionate, faith-based care, with Jewish services and counseling offered, but is open to all backgrounds. Heritage Manor uses advanced rehab technology and Telehealth to deliver therapies like physical, occupational, and speech therapy-sometimes including specialty treatments like electrical stimulation for strength-building. Programs and therapy plans are reviewed with each new resident or day guest to make sure services fit specific needs, and the staff keeps in touch with families about progress.

Heritage Manor has a 4.5 out of 5 community sentiment score and a team known for kindness and attention. The environment is calm and comfortable, with newer renovations and spaces that make it easier to move around. The goal's to help each person stay as active, safe, and independent as possible, whether staying short or long term, living in the community, or dropping in for the adult day program.
