    Spotless welcoming apartment-like attentive staff

I moved my mom into this bright, one-level facility and have been very pleased. It's spotless and apartment-like (kitchenette, fridge, microwave, cable) with a lovely dining room and engaging activities. Staff are warm, attentive and responsive-Kari Barber and others consistently go above and beyond-and management communicates well and adjusts care as needed. Pet-friendly, safe, and welcoming; I'd gladly recommend it to other families.

    Summary of reviews

Trustwell Living at Astor Place is described across reviews as a small, apartment-style assisted living community with an emphasis on a home-like atmosphere. Many families and residents highlight the facility’s intimate scale, private studios with kitchenettes and full bathrooms, an accessible single-level layout, and outdoor courtyard areas that support mobility and social interaction. The physical plant is frequently characterized as sunny, well-kept, and clean, with on-site conveniences such as a beauty salon and free parking.

Care and staffing are the most consistently praised aspects. Numerous accounts emphasize compassionate, attentive caregivers who foster respectful resident relationships and encourage independence. Several specific staff members received individual praise for dedication and responsiveness. Clinically, reviewers note positive medication management practices and collaborative nurse–physician coordination, along with prompt communication to families. That said, there is a recurring operational pattern of caregiver turnover and inconsistent staffing levels; reviewers indicate that this fluctuation can affect continuity of care and the resident experience.

Dining and activities are important strengths and areas of mixed feedback. The community offers a range of Life Enrichment programming — exercise classes, crafts, puzzles, field trips, sing-alongs, country drives, and social dining — and many residents become more socially engaged after moving in. Meal service is regularly described as social and generally well received, with some families noting generous portions and an accommodating chef. However, other reviewers point to limited menu variety, repetitive protein choices, and occasional meal-quality issues; weekend programming and activity staffing were also described as less robust at times.

Management and administrative practices present a mixed picture. Management is often called responsive and able to process admissions quickly, and families appreciate clear communication when it occurs. Conversely, some reviews raise concerns about admissions coordination (notably move-in logistics and medication-related delays), intermittent housekeeping lapses, and opaque financial practices such as wait-list or upfront fees and the lack of Medicaid acceptance. Finally, the community is not structured as specialized memory care; reviewers indicate it is better suited for assisted living needs rather than intensive dementia care.

In summary, Astor Place appears to offer a warm, small-community assisted living option with notable strengths in staff compassion, individualized attention, a clean environment, and varied engagement opportunities. Prospective residents and families who value a small-scale, apartment-style setting and active social programming are likely to find the community appealing. Those who require specialized memory-care services, predictable weekend programming, or maximum pricing transparency should clarify these areas during the tour and admissions conversations.

About Trustwell Living at Astor Place

Trustwell Living at Astor Place is an assisted living community in Oregon with 28 beds, where many staff members have worked for over 20 years, and the team brings over 160 years of combined experience, so the people here have seen a lot and know what seniors need, and they do their best to make residents feel welcome, supported, and respected. Residents can choose Independent Living, Assisted Living, or Memory Care, and staff put together individual care plans that cover everything from help with bathing, dressing, and grooming, to regular health monitoring by a full-time registered nurse who is there at all hours, and people can keep as much independence as they want while getting help when they need it. The building is wheelchair accessible, including the showers, and there's an emergency call system always available for safety. The apartments, which come in studio and one-bedroom layouts, have high-end finishes and extra space for personal items, and the housekeeping and laundry services keep things simple so residents can focus on the things they enjoy. The place runs a pet-friendly policy, so animal friends are welcome, and outdoor areas like a sunny front porch and patio let people get some fresh air, while fireplaces in the lounges give a cozy place to gather and visit. People staying here can join outings to local attractions, shopping, county fairs, and libraries, and take part in activities such as tai chi, bingo, singing, dancing, baking club, and arts and crafts; there's also a creative studio and a game room, plus a TV lounge, free Wi-Fi, and piano or organ for music. The dining room offers chef-prepared, nutritious meals served in a restaurant-style way, and there's an on-site beauty salon to help residents keep up with grooming. The community has a welcoming, lively, and compassionate feel, with both indoor and outdoor common areas, devotional services, scheduled activities, and options for both short-term respite care and aging in place, so people can stay as long as they're comfortable, even after surgery or illness. The property sits close to the busline, offers complimentary transportation and parking for residents, and has all the amenities you'd expect in a place focused on comfort, safety, and a sense of home.
