    Warm attentive staff, excellent amenities

I'm very satisfied with my parent's move - the staff are genuine, warm and attentive, the facility and grounds are beautiful and well-kept, meals are excellent, and there's a wide range of activities plus strong memory-care support. It feels safe, home-like and family-oriented - the team consistently goes above and beyond.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Hearthstone at Murrayhill is consistently described as a well-kept, attractive senior living community with a strong emphasis on hospitality and resident comfort. The campus is frequently characterized as clean, landscaped, and modern in many areas, with spacious apartments (including high ceilings), comfortable common spaces, and a variety of unit types. The community’s family-run local ownership is noted as contributing to a welcoming, personal atmosphere.

Care quality and staff: Reviewers commonly highlight compassionate, respectful staff and engaged nursing leadership. Families and residents describe attentive caregiving, good medication-management practices, prompt call-button responses, and on-request nurse practitioner visits. The community offers a full continuum (independent living through assisted living, memory care, and hospice), with memory care noted for individualized one-on-one attention. That said, a pattern of variable staff attentiveness appears in some accounts, including occasional delays in response and isolated lapses in observation; these are characterized as operational responsiveness issues rather than systemic clinical failures.

Dining: Dining is a clear strength for many residents — varied menus, frequent menu changes, vegetarian options, and meals that many reviewers call high-quality. Community dining areas are described as pleasant and sociable. There are a few mentions of a decline in food consistency following kitchen-staff turnover, which suggests periodic variability tied to staffing and culinary changes rather than a uniform problem with menu planning.

Activities and social life: Hearthstone offers a comprehensive activity program with daily classes, arts and crafts, exercise, music and choir events, games, weekly outings, and volunteer opportunities. Transportation and shuttle services support off-campus appointments and shopping. The community’s spiritual life is supported by an onsite chaplain and regular worship opportunities. Activity availability has been curtailed at times due to external restrictions, which reviewers note as temporary program limitations rather than a lack of programmatic intent.

Facilities and environment: The property’s landscaping, courtyards, water features, and interior updates are frequently praised. Apartments are described as roomy and well-equipped (including in-unit laundry). Some reviewers describe parts of the building as having older decor or dim lighting; this points to a difference in condition between newly refreshed areas and spaces that may benefit from further updating. There are also occasional mentions of odor concerns in communal areas, which suggests intermittent sanitation or ventilation issues to monitor.

Management and operations: Management receives largely positive comments for responsiveness, staff morale, and resident-focused leadership; the locally owned, family business identity is seen as a positive. Operational weaknesses identified across accounts include affordability (relatively high pricing), billing and administrative errors, and a long waiting list that limits immediate move-in options. A few reviewers describe variability in staff coverage or attentiveness at specific times, indicating opportunities to strengthen scheduling and supervisory practices.

Notable patterns for prospective families: The community is repeatedly recommended for families seeking an active, socially rich, and well-maintained setting with a range of care levels. Prospective residents should weigh the higher cost against the strong social programming, dining, and on-site clinical support. Visit in person to evaluate lighting and decor in the specific unit and common areas you would use, review recent billing and contract terms carefully, and ask about current staffing patterns and waitlist timing to confirm availability and operational fit.

    About Hearthstone at Murrayhill

Hearthstone At Murrayhill offers a range of living options for seniors, including independent living, assisted living, and memory care, and you'll find each setting set up to help people remain as independent as possible while making daily life easier, and there's a strong effort to keep things healthy and worry-free whether someone is active and needs little help or requires full-time care for memory concerns. The community has outdoor spaces meant just for residents, a full-time chapel for spiritual support, and a newsletter called the Murrayhill Times that keeps everyone connected to what's happening. Residents can join daily activities both inside the community and around the neighborhood, with choices like art, music, exercise, and writing classes, so there's always something different to enjoy or learn, and the meals are planned by chefs with vegetarian options, served throughout the day to fit different schedules and tastes. Staff members, including nurses, doctors, therapists, and a designated Memory Care Administrator, are around to help with everything from bathing and getting dressed to medications and special memory care services meant to reduce confusion and keep people safe, and there's support for other needs like dental, vision, podiatry, and even home care for those who prefer living at home with extra help. Hearthstone At Murrayhill doesn't allow smoking inside anywhere, but it does welcome pets, provides resident parking, and includes wheelchair accessible showers to make things comfortable, plus it's family-owned and is known for having friendly, helpful staff and neighbors who keep things warm and positive. There are both private apartments and shared spaces, Wi-Fi is available to stay connected, and there's a beautician on site, so people can keep up with personal care if they wish, and transportation is arranged for errands or appointments outside. Devotional activities, social events, and therapist services are available, and the community has even received awards for its care quality and daily activities, which means people living there get plenty of chances to make new friends and keep busy, whether they need just a little help or a lot.
