    Compassionate staff and excellent care

I toured and moved my loved one here and felt immediately at ease. The staff are genuinely compassionate and attentive-Stephanie Babcock and nurse Meagan went above and beyond-and communication and buzzer response are prompt. Chef Jaz serves scratch-made, well-balanced meals that accommodate diets and can be delivered and reheated in the apartment, which has a fridge and microwave and large walk-in showers. The facility is clean, warm and family-like; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Trustwell Living at River Run Place is frequently described as a small, single-level assisted-living community with a strong emphasis on personalized, family-oriented care. Many reviewers highlight the facility's clean, homey environment, accessible layout, and an inner courtyard that contributes to a peaceful atmosphere. The community size and staffing model support close staff–resident relationships; reviewers commonly note staff members by name and describe continuity of caregivers for many residents.

Care and staff: The dominant theme across reviews is praise for the caregiving team and nursing presence. Families report compassionate, attentive caregivers and responsive nurses who communicate well with relatives and accommodate individualized care and dietary needs. Conversely, several reviews point to staffing instability and shortfalls, particularly overnight, which some families felt affected responsiveness. There are also accounts expressing concerns about staff training, tone, and conduct; a minority of reviews include serious allegations about conduct and sanitation that would warrant direct inquiry during a visit. Prospective families should ask about current staffing ratios, turnover rates, and recent training or corrective actions when assessing clinical reliability.

Dining and nutrition: Dining is a recurrent strength. Multiple reviews praise scratch-made, flavorful meals and a chef who tailors offerings and accommodates special diets. Several families called out the quality and presentation of food, and the dining experience is described as welcoming. A smaller set of comments note variability—weekend meals may be less consistent, and a few visitors described meals as under-seasoned or not meeting expectations. Asking to visit for a weekday lunch and inquiring about weekend menus will give a clearer picture of meal consistency.

Activities and social life: Activities programming is characterized as upbeat and engaging where present—staffed activities, trips, and visiting performances are specifically mentioned. At the same time, some reviewers described a reliance on resident-run committees and word‑of‑mouth activities, resulting in uneven programming depending on resident interest and staffing. For families concerned about structured social engagement, requesting a sample monthly activities calendar and attending an activity or mealtime during a tour is advisable.

Facility and units: The property is commonly described as clean and well-decorated with comfortable common spaces (fireplace room, dining areas) and accessible bathrooms. Unit configurations are frequently noted as L-shaped studios and compact one-bedroom options; reviewers often cited limited availability of larger one-bedroom apartments and described some studios as small. In-apartment amenities such as refrigerators, microwaves, and large walk-in showers are positives; practical details to confirm on a visit include door hardware (some noted heavy pocket doors) and courtyard maintenance.

Management, admissions, and administration: Admissions staff and managers receive considerable positive feedback for being helpful, communicative, and willing to work on financial flexibility and rate adjustments. Several reviewers credit admissions staff with timely crisis placement. At the same time, there are recurring administrative issues: billing/ corporate-communication disconnects, rate increases, and occasional reports of high-pressure sales tactics. Medicaid is not accepted here, which may affect placement decisions. Prospective residents should clarify billing processes, any refundable-deposit policies, and how management handles complaints and rate changes.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The facility's most consistent strengths are relational—staff compassion, individualized attention, high-quality meals, and a clean, single-level environment that many families find welcoming. The most consistent operational weaknesses are workforce stability, variability in activity and weekend meal programming, limited larger-unit availability, and occasional administrative or sanitation issues. Given this mix, prospective families should prioritize an in-person visit during a mealtime or morning activity, request current staffing metrics and recent inspection or staffing records, ask to meet nursing leadership, and review billing and admission contracts closely. Doing so will help determine whether the community's strong relational attributes align with the clinical and operational reliability you require.

About Trustwell Living at River Run Place

Trustwell Living at River Run Place sits quietly at 1155 Darlene Lane in Eugene, Oregon, and people around here know it for its helpful, joyful, and kind staff, with some having worked here for over 20 years, which really helps keep a friendly, welcoming feeling. The place offers different types of care, like independent living if folks just want a little help, assisted living for extra support with things like bathing and dressing, and memory care for seniors living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, and there's even respite care with flexible daily, weekly, or monthly stays for short-term needs. The facility has 47 beds, and the apartments come in studio, single-room, or two-bedroom options, with kitchenettes so residents can do some home cooking if they want, and the rooms have been updated to be modern and comfortable, plus there are emergency call systems and handicap features to help keep everybody safe.

Trustwell Living at River Run Place has 24-hour personal care staff and a full-time registered nurse who oversees medication management and health services, making sure no one's left without support at any hour, and the team works with outside healthcare providers too, so all services are coordinated for the residents' ease. The community's spread across lovely grounds with walking paths and gardens, and there are indoor places for gathering like the bright game room, creative studio, full-service salon and barbershop, library, fitness center with an indoor pool and spa, dining spaces including the Da Ra Cafe & Brew, and the activities rooms for arts, crafts, movies, music, or groups. Folks who live here can get help with daily chores-such as weekly housekeeping, laundry services, and maintenance-so they can focus on enjoying the activities, joining scheduled outings, or sitting out by the outdoor patio and fire pit with friends and visitors, and there's even guest parking for those coming to see them.

Residents get three nutritious meals each day in the dining room, where food is restaurant-style and uses quality ingredients, and there are extras like cable TV, free Wi-Fi, and washers and dryers in the apartments, and plenty of accessible features for wheelchairs and walkers just about everywhere you'd need them. The social and recreational calendar stays full, with a team planning events, wellness programs, arts, crafts, learning opportunities, devotional options, and outings to places like the nearby Pacific Surgery Center or Walmart Pharmacy, plus there's general counseling for whoever might want to talk through anything on their mind. Memory Care, assisted by caring folks like Jane and others, runs specific programs to help residents remain active and comfortable, and having the same familiar staff around makes it easier on everyone.

This place takes pets, welcomes family visits, and invites people to use the event rental area for group gatherings or celebrations, which can make life feel a lot more normal and lively than people sometimes expect. The executive team at Trustwell Living at River Run Place brings over 160 years of combined experience, which shows up in how smoothly things run and how respectfully seniors are treated, always with an eye on helping residents remain as independent as possible while getting any needed support, and the atmosphere feels more supportive and family-like than clinical, with plenty of common areas inside and outside for folks to spend time together. The facility emphasizes dignity, safety, and well-being, delivering what seniors really need for daily comfort, peace of mind, and a strong sense of community, and anyone who comes by usually notices right away it's a quiet, private property where people do their best to look out for each other.
