    Upscale welcoming social retirement community

I live here and I'm very pleased. The upscale, modern building and lovely grounds are clean, secure and well maintained, with an indoor pool and plenty of amenities. The staff are caring, courteous and responsive, and the active calendar-fitness classes, outings and field trips-has helped me make new friends. I would recommend this welcoming, social community for a comfortable retirement.

    Summary of reviews

Countryside Village presents as an upscale senior living community offering both independent and assisted-living options, with two‑bedroom apartments and a broad amenity set. Reviewers commonly describe attractive grounds, modern/upgraded interiors, an indoor pool, and on‑site recreational spaces. The community appears to maintain an active calendar — fitness classes, field trips, bus outings, and other organized activities are frequently cited — and many families and residents characterize the overall atmosphere as welcoming and socially engaging.

Staff quality is a recurring theme with generally positive impressions: many reviewers praise friendly, caring, and responsive staff, and maintenance responsiveness is singled out as a strength. At the same time, a subset of comments point to variability in staff conduct and communication tone, and a few reviewers raised serious concerns about unprofessional or discriminatory behavior. Clinical intake and nursing responsiveness were also described as uneven in some cases, including difficulties with admitting medically complex applicants and delays or cold interactions during admission assessment. These patterns suggest that clinical-admission protocols and frontline nursing communication can be variable depending on circumstances.

Dining experiences are mixed. Several reviewers report very positive meal quality and enjoyable dining experiences, while others describe inconsistent preparation and service standards and sanitation concerns in dining areas. The divergence in reports ranges from praise for delicious meals to criticisms about undercooked items and cleanliness issues. This inconsistency in meal quality and dining‑room upkeep is one of the more prominent areas of disagreement among reviewers.

The facility’s programming and amenities receive consistent praise: an active resident community, frequent activities, fitness offerings, and transportation for outings contribute to strong social opportunities for many residents. The campus and interiors are often described as well maintained and attractive. However, experience with social integration appears to be variable — some families felt their relatives thrived socially, while others found residents more closed off and believed their family member might feel out of place.

Operational considerations reflect a mixed picture. Several reviewers note a long wait list and pricing that some perceive as high relative to value; management instability, including administrative turnover, was also mentioned and may contribute to inconsistency in service. Given the pattern of highly positive experiences alongside specific operational concerns (dining consistency, cleanliness in common areas, variable clinical-admission responsiveness, and occasional staff-conduct issues), prospective residents and families would benefit from an in‑person tour, direct conversations about admission and clinical protocols, review of current menus and meal-service practices, and inquiry into recent management or regulatory actions before making a commitment.

    About Countryside Village

Countryside Village sits at 1700 Kellenbeck Ave in Grants Pass, where residents get to look out at peaceful views of Southern Oregon and quiet surroundings, and you'll find a good mix of living options here, with independent living, cottage living, assisted living, and memory care, including a special memory care area called The Lodge at Countryside Village for folks who need more support, and the place offers luxurious apartments and cottages with private patios, roomy closets, and bathrooms designed for accessibility, along with all utilities included so that's one less thing to worry about. The community's got both furnished and unfurnished rooms, with all-day restaurant-style dining focused on health and variety, plus private dining areas, a bistro, a pub, and even local wine service if you want it, and all-day, farm-to-table menu options for special diets, plus a community kitchen if you feel like cooking, and you never have to worry about chores like laundry, dry cleaning, or housekeeping because staff take care of those, and there's also scheduled and chauffeur-driven transportation when you need to get out. Residents can use the barber and beauty salon, library, pub, a TV theater, computer center, and card and game rooms, with lots of inviting sitting spaces both inside and outside, since the place is full of walking paths, gardens, and beautifully landscaped grounds, and the big multi-purpose activity rooms host art classes, educational lectures, and courses. People living here run their own activities program, but there's also a community-sponsored program with trips, games, exercise groups, movie nights, and country drives, so it's easy to stay social and engaged, especially with regular relaxing social gatherings and new games to learn, and some folks even take part in dynamic wellness programs and brain health classes. Support services cover a lot of ground: medication management, emergency alert systems, professional care staff on site all day and night, non-ambulatory care, daily living help with things like bathing, dressing, and transfer assistance, plus move-in coordination for anyone feeling overwhelmed. The building is wheelchair accessible, with safety features throughout, and the staff focus on privacy, respect, and letting each resident keep as much independence as they want. Modern amenities include a full fitness center, a pool table, shuffleboard, a community kitchen, abundant storage areas, and spacious apartments, and there's a big activities calendar and life enrichment program so folks aren't bored, and the care options range from independent living all the way up to nursing home and rehabilitation services. Countryside Village is privately owned, state-licensed, and doesn't require long-term commitments or buy-ins, making it pretty flexible for different needs, and you can always tour the community, meet staff and residents, and see the place yourself if you want to get a true feel for what everyday life there's really like.
