I feel very comfortable with this family-run, homey place - caring, long-tenured staff (RN on site), professional administration, and engaging activities like music and bingo. Rooms and common areas are clean and lodge-like, the grounds are lovely and secure, meals are hearty, meds are timely, and a new memory-care wing is planned. It's affordable, supports independence, and has been a very positive experience for my family.

About Harvest Homes
Harvest Homes is a nurturing and vibrant community located just downriver from the iconic St. Johns Bridge in North Portland. Nestled on 2.5 idyllic acres near the Port of Portland, this community has been a beloved fixture in the St. Johns neighborhood since 1965. With a proud legacy spanning almost six decades, Harvest Homes has touched the lives of hundreds of older adults, providing multi-level and multi-faceted care through both Assisted Living and Memory Care communities. The guiding philosophy here centers on dignity, joy, and an unwavering commitment to “Touching Lives With Love”—a daily call to action that forms the heart of this unique home.
The design of Harvest Homes places resident comfort at the forefront, offering inviting and airy communal spaces filled with natural light. Cozy, tranquil seating areas encourage conversation or peaceful relaxation, while the campus’s atrium-like dining room and sunroom—with their floor-to-ceiling windows—bring the outdoors in. Residents remain connected to nature, the changing seasons, and the wildlife that graces the extensive campus gardens. The gardens themselves are a source of pride, providing ample space to stroll among native plants and trees, tend a personal garden plot, or simply listen to the soothing sounds of the nearby Willamette River.
At Harvest Homes, spiritual and communal needs are thoughtfully addressed with the inclusion of a chapel, which serves as a place for weekly church services, quiet reflection, celebrations, and memorials. The commitment to creating a dynamic, intergenerational environment is evident through an on-site preschool and a collaborative relationship with the University of Portland’s School Of Nursing. These connections help to foster a sense of community and vibrancy, making Harvest Homes more than just a place to live—it is a place to thrive.
The staff at Harvest Homes is deeply dedicated to their mission. Guided by a passionate desire to make a difference in residents’ lives, the team arrives each day ready to help seniors feel seen, appreciated, and truly part of the Harvest Homes family. Individualized care is prioritized in a homelike setting, grounded in an understanding of each resident’s medical history and personal background. By taking the time to build genuine relationships with residents and their families, as well as with the broader North Portland neighborhood, Harvest Homes continually goes the extra mile to foster a strong, inclusive community where every individual can feel a true sense of belonging.
