    Pleasant, secure memory-care with activities

I placed my mom here and I'm very pleased - the staff are pleasant and memory-care trained, the community feels secure and clean, and there are lots of activities plus twice-weekly trips. They've accommodated my mom's requests, have three lovely outdoor areas, and convenient on-site services like a salon and blood draw. I recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews present a mixed picture of Clatsop Care Memory Community: the facility offers several programmatic and facility strengths but also shows consistent operational challenges that reviewers linked to resident experience. Positive aspects include a robust activities program, memory-care trained personnel, multiple secure outdoor areas, and convenient on-site services such as a salon and phlebotomy. Several families expressed overall satisfaction and would recommend the community for its cleanliness and the day-to-day engagement opportunities provided to residents.

Care and staffing comments are bifurcated. On the positive side, reviewers described pleasant frontline staff and staff with memory-care training who accommodate individual resident requests. On the negative side, there is a recurrent theme of chronic understaffing and high turnover. Reviewers associated these staffing pressures with reductions in direct-care support and delays in responsiveness to resident needs. Some reviewers also characterized replacement hires as less experienced, which contributed to concerns about consistency and care continuity.

Dining, activities, and the physical environment show similar contrasts. The activity schedule and twice-weekly trips were noted as strong points, and the property’s three outdoor areas, secure layout, and cleanliness were described favorably. At the same time, reviewers reported a perceived decline in food-service quality and cuts to recreation programming, which reviewers linked to budget-driven downsizing. On-site amenities such as the salon and blood-draw services were seen as convenience strengths that complement care offerings.

Management and organizational patterns emerged as a notable area of concern. Reviewers expressed worries about leadership decisions, a management focus on financial considerations, and the operational consequences of downsizing. These management-related issues were cited as drivers of staffing instability and program reductions and were associated with adverse effects on resident experience. Prospective residents and families should seek current information about staffing ratios, turnover rates, staff training credentials, and any recent or planned changes to dining and activity services. Observing mealtimes and activity sessions and discussing staffing and quality-improvement plans with leadership can help clarify whether the facility’s strengths are being sustained amid the cited operational challenges.

    About Clatsop Care Memory Community

Clatsop Care Memory Community sits at 2219 South East Dolphin Road in Warrenton, Oregon, and provides both assisted living and memory care services as part of the Clatsop Care Center Health District, and you'll find 32 total beds here, all dedicated to memory care, in a medium-sized building that feels close-knit, with staff who take time to know residents and focus on personalized support every day, so people get help with everyday things like bathing, getting dressed, moving around, taking medicine, and even spoon-feeding if they need it, and they have trained staff for memory care, including a locked Alzheimer's unit and secure outdoor areas, which really matters for folks who might wander or need stable routines. The community has shared apartments, small studios that are made for function and comfort, one-bedroom units, and even two-bedroom units available, and the whole place is designed to make it easy for people with different needs to get around and feel at home, with emergency systems in every room, 24-hour supervision, and a call system for safety. When it comes to food, there's a dining room with all-day meal service, restaurant-style options, special menus for people with allergies or diabetes, and every resident gets three meals a day, so no one has to worry about nutrition. You'll see a lot of amenities around, like a community kitchen, laundry and housekeeping services, flat screen TVs, an on-site salon and barber, chapel services, a reading area, and internet access. There's a real effort to make the environment homelike and welcoming, so you get resident-run activities, education programs, arts rooms, walking paths, jogging trails, gardens, and movie nights-plus activities and trips go out twice a week for anyone who's able and interested. Staff also help with more advanced healthcare, drawing blood on site, medication management, incontinence care, diabetic care, and non-ambulatory care, and if someone just needs a short stay, there's respite care available for them too. The community lets people bring cats and dogs, and there's safe parking for family visitors. The facility includes several common areas where people can gather indoors, as well as three secure outdoor spaces. They provide special support for residents with mild cognitive impairment, working to help each person stay as independent as possible. The Clatsop Care Memory Community scores 3.8 on Seniorly's rating, and many folks find it a family-oriented, calm, and steady place to live, with a focus on safety and dignity, and all the important things needed for seniors who might need extra help as they age. The official website is www.clatsopcare.org, where more information about services in the district can be found.
