    Spotless facility, caring staff, recommended

I'm very pleased with this senior living community. The bright, new facility is spotless with spacious rooms and a beautiful dining area, staff are professional, caring, and responsive, and the activities director runs a robust, engaging calendar (bingo, arts & crafts, music) that really involved my mother. She settled in quickly, gets excellent personal and medical care, and we have real peace of mind - I would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Parkland Manor elicits two distinct sets of experiences. Many reviewers describe a newer, well-appointed facility with bright, spacious rooms, attractive communal spaces, and a strong activities program. Those accounts emphasize caring, professional staff, a single-floor layout with exterior-door/patio access, and included services that create value for families. Conversely, other accounts describe operational weaknesses—notably inconsistent staffing, management turnover, and variability in care responsiveness—that have meaningfully affected some residents' day-to-day experience.

Care and staff: Most favorable comments center on compassionate, attentive aides and a conscientious nursing presence; several families credited staff with helping residents acclimate and improving mood or function. At the same time, a recurring operational theme is inconsistent staffing levels. This manifests as delayed responses to call lights, gaps in scheduled assistance (including bathing and toileting support), and occasional lapses in medication delivery or clinical communication. There are also concerns about limited licensed clinical presence during some shifts and uneven follow-through from management on clinical updates to primary physicians.

Dining and meals: Opinions about meals are mixed. The facility operates with meals prepared offsite and delivered to the community; some reviewers praised food quality and reasonable meal service, while others described cold or unappealing meals and an overall dining-room atmosphere that some found institutional rather than home-like. The dining rooms in newer sections—where highlighted—are attractive features, but inconsistent meal quality and the lack of an on-site kitchen are important operational considerations.

Activities and programming: A major strength for many residents is the active life program. Reviewers frequently mention a dedicated activities director, varied offerings (bingo, arts and crafts, trivia, music, holiday parties), and regular entertainment that supports social engagement. However, memory-care residents may experience a different programmatic profile; the memory-care unit is described as secure and locked for safety but with limited outings and fewer activity options in some accounts.

Facilities and maintenance: The community includes newer, elegant areas with skylights and bright common rooms, which several families described as clean and welcoming. Room sizes and layouts are generally praised. At the same time, there are recurring observations about maintenance and exterior upkeep—limited landscaping, parking constraints, storage or equipment left in halls in some areas, and an overall unevenness between newer and older sections. Sanitation and cleanliness are strong in many reports but variable in others, creating an inconsistent impression across the campus.

Management and communication: Management-related issues are a notable pattern. Reviewers point to turnover in leadership roles, hands-off ownership or management, and uneven communication with families. Positive accounts highlight responsive administration and good family communication; negative accounts emphasize failures in follow-through, inconsistent medication handling, and staff-scheduling shortcomings. These management patterns appear to be a root cause of several operational weaknesses cited elsewhere.

Notable patterns and decision points: Prospective residents and families will find much that is attractive—modern rooms, robust activities, secure memory care, and many empathetic caregivers. Important areas for due diligence include assessing current staffing ratios and shift coverage, verifying clinical oversight and medication-administration protocols, sampling meal service, and touring both newer and older sections to evaluate maintenance consistency. Families with relatives requiring frequent assistance or clinical oversight should pay particular attention to response times, lift/transfer protocols, and the presence of licensed personnel on site.

In sum, Parkland Manor presents a mix of strong programmatic and environmental offerings alongside operational inconsistencies that materially affect some residents. The facility can deliver a high-quality, engaging environment when staffing and management alignment are intact; however, variability in those operational areas creates uneven experiences across residents and units.

    About Parkland Manor

Parkland Manor sits in Allentown near I-476, Highway 309, and Highway 22 at the crossroads of the Lehigh Valley, and opened in 2019 with a new building that's easy to spot thanks to its welcoming front door with a red awning and elegant divided-pane windows, plus townhome-style accommodations with stone accents that set it apart from other places in the area. The community offers assisted living, independent living, memory care, and personal care with advanced physical care services, so residents who have different needs can find help without moving to another facility. The rooms include studio apartments and semi-private options, with private bathrooms, air conditioning, kitchenettes, cable TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, and they come furnished if someone doesn't want to bother with moving furniture. The building's fully wheelchair accessible, and there's a 24-hour supervision team and a call system for emergencies, so help's always close by when it's needed, and the whole place is licensed by the state under license number 228230.

Residents get all-inclusive rent, which means meals, housekeeping, laundry, and most services are covered in a single price, and that sure makes things easier to keep track of each month. The dining room has professional chefs preparing meals restaurant style, and the staff can work around restrictions like allergies or diabetes so people get what they need, and there's even a place for devotional services right onsite for those who want that. There's always something going on because the activity program includes daily events, library visits, movie nights, music, a game room, art programs, fitness and spa rooms, a theater, barber and salon services, plus outdoor walking paths, common patios, and places to just sit if you want a quieter time. Parkland Manor lets residents have some pets, though it's good to check the specifics about which pets are allowed, and they encourage tours, which can help folks see if it's a good fit for them right from the start.

There's independent living for those who want to keep doing things on their own; assisted living and personal care services with help for things like medication management, bathing, dressing, and getting around if that's needed; advanced physical care for changing needs; and memory care services for those with Alzheimer's or dementia, which includes its own safety features and spaces designed for cognitive health. The on-site staff handles both medical needs and general support, so whether it's managing medication or help with activities of daily living, trained help's close by any time of day or night, and there's always a focus on helping people stay as independent as they want to be while keeping things comfortable and safe. The place has social spaces, some resident-run activities, educational trips to local attractions, and outings like golf or library visits, with transportation and parking taken care of for those who need it. Amenities like concierge service, emergency alert systems, scheduled housekeeping, dry cleaning, and beauty services make the days smoother, while the community lounge and outdoor areas offer plenty of chances to enjoy time with others or just relax. Parkland Manor's close to the city too, offering the amenities of a larger community nearby, so people get the benefits of both quiet and convenience.
