    Beautiful, clean, caring senior community

I live at this country senior-living community and I'm very pleased. The grounds are beautiful with walking trails and open space, the dining room feels restaurant-style, and rooms are spacious, clean and odor-free with private and shared options. Staff are friendly, accommodating and communicative - they handle meals, laundry and medications, showed me rooms even on short notice, and were knowledgeable and thorough. Overall it's a great facility and excellent value; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Country Manor Personal Care Home are highly mixed, with a clear split between families who describe a comfortable, well-managed environment and others who describe operational and clinical shortcomings. Positive commentary focuses on the facility’s setting, room options, and certain staff members and services. Several reviewers praised the country location and grounds, spacious private and shared accommodations, a restaurant-style dining room, and staff who handle meals, laundry, and medication assistance. When the experience was positive, reviewers noted clean, odor-controlled rooms, accommodating admissions/showings, and staff they considered knowledgeable.

Care quality and staffing emerged as an area of significant variability. Some accounts describe attentive, knowledgeable clinical staff and thorough care; others describe inconsistent staffing levels, limited responsiveness to resident needs, and gaps in clinical assessment and wound-care follow-up. A subset of reviews raised serious clinical concerns and referenced regulatory attention; these descriptions point toward potential weaknesses in clinical oversight and the need to verify current inspection and enforcement status before placement.

Dining and activities receive mixed marks. The dining room and meal service are often described as clean and well managed, and some families report value for the services provided. However, other reviewers describe inconsistent meal quality and presentation, and limited group activities or programming (exacerbated in part by infection-control restrictions such as COVID-era limitations). Prospective residents should ask about current activity schedules and any recent changes to programming.

Facility maintenance and amenities show both strengths and strain. The property’s rural setting and outdoor walking areas are frequently cited as positives. At the same time, reviews note aging furnishings, older mattresses, rooms sometimes shown before they are fully prepared for move-in, and intermittent housekeeping or room-readiness problems. Several reviewers also mentioned odor or sanitation concerns in particular rooms or common areas, indicating inconsistent housekeeping standards in parts of the building.

Administrative and communication practices were another consistent theme. Multiple reviewers described opaque billing processes, missing monthly statements, and frustration around financial communication and affordability. Families also reported inconsistent communication from staff, variability in visitor-policy flexibility, and limitations related to placement or transfer support tied to the facility’s geographic reach.

Taken together, the pattern in these reviews suggests that Country Manor offers several elements that can support a positive residential experience — attractive grounds, a homelike dining area, and staff who can and do provide hands-on assistance — but that there are also recurring operational risks: inconsistent staffing and clinical follow-through, variable housekeeping and room readiness, administrative opacity, and uneven infection-control and communication practices. Prospective residents and family members should arrange an in-person tour, request recent inspection reports and staffing ratios, review sample billing statements and the contract, ask how wound care and infection outbreaks are managed, and speak with current families when possible to get a sense of consistency across shifts and units.

About Country Manor Personal Care Home

Country Manor Personal Care Home sits on the east bank of the Allegheny River in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, and offers care for up to eight residents in a quiet, country hillside setting, where folks get help with things like bathing, dressing, hygiene, and bathroom needs, and the staff can help residents move around or give insulin shots when needed, and you'll always find someone close by because they stay on duty around the clock, making sure folks get support when they need it. Meals are homemade three times each day with special care for allergies, high blood pressure, or diabetes, and there's a kosher option too, all served in a dining room where people can sit and visit or eat alone if they want, and residents also get laundry, medication help, and daily housekeeping. They keep things homelike and comfortable, offering private bedrooms-some with half bathrooms-and semi-private living for people who prefer sharing space, and folks gather in indoor common areas, the dining room, a library, or go outside to the garden, walking paths, or outdoor patios when the weather's nice.

Country Manor has programs and activities like movie nights, board games, crafts, music therapy, pet therapy, exercise sessions, and resident-run events, so there's always something to do whether it's a structured activity or just relaxing with friends, and for those who need a little more, there are devotional services and transportation to faith-based places, doctor's appointments, and errands out in town. The staff includes trained professionals who know how to handle memory loss like Alzheimer's and dementia, providing memory care in a safe, secure environment with features aimed at reducing confusion and helping prevent wandering. Residents who need hospice or respite care have those options, plus physical, occupational, and speech therapy services available right there at home, along with visits from doctors, x-rays, and blood draws as needed. The place has a responsive call system, aids for people with limited movement, and staff who focus on wellness, safety, and keeping everyone as active and independent as possible.

Country Manor stands out because it's small and personal, offering both independent and assisted living alongside memory care, all shaped around what each person needs, with thoughtful touches like a barber or beautician on-site, wellness rooms, and spaces for games or quiet reading, and regular events like social nights keep life lively. They're known for their gentle, loving care and steady support, and they work hard to make families feel comfortable, especially when decisions get emotional, always keeping an eye on the details that matter to folks looking for a simple, safe, and friendly place to live.
