I'm very pleased with Laureldale - the staff are consistently welcoming, attentive, and professional, and the nursing and therapy teams really supported recovery. The building and rooms are clean, sunny, and well maintained, meals and dietary accommodations are reliable, and activities are engaging. Check-in feels secure and communication with families is clear. I would happily recommend it for compassionate, competent care.

    Summary of reviews

Laureldale Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center elicits strongly mixed impressions. Many families and residents praise the facility for its caring frontline staff, robust therapy services, and an active social program. Therapy teams and rehabilitation spaces receive consistent positive comments: reviewers note skilled PT/OT/speech personnel, large sunny gyms, and positive rehab outcomes. Administrative responsiveness and individual leaders are singled out favorably at times, and the grounds and some units are described as clean, bright, and well maintained.

Care quality is variable across reports. Positive accounts emphasize timely medication administration, attentive nursing and aide support, and staff who provide compassionate, family‑style interactions. Conversely, a substantial set of reports identifies operational weaknesses: slow response to call bells, variable staffing coverage (notably on weekends), timing inconsistencies with medications, and instances where clinical assessment or diagnostic follow‑up were delayed. There are also isolated but serious allegations about inadequate incident reporting and insufficient accountability; these appear in a subset of reviews and represent matters families should clarify with leadership.

Dining and activities show a similar pattern of strengths and inconsistencies. The facility offers extended kitchen hours, snack availability, and dietary accommodations (including allergy and plant‑based options), and many residents enjoy organized activities such as pet therapy, entertainment, and social events. At the same time, other reviewers describe inconsistent food quality, issues with meal temperature and portions, and variability in assistance with feeding when needed.

Facilities and operations present mixed feedback. Positive comments highlight well‑kept grounds, roomy bright rooms, ample storage, and reliable transportation for appointments. Conversely, reviewers report sanitation concerns and odor control problems in some common areas, frustrations with laundry handling and missing personal items, cramped or inadequately configured rooms/bathrooms for accessibility needs, and occasional equipment or service breakdowns. Safety and fall‑prevention practices are another recurring concern tied to staffing and response time issues.

Management and communication are areas to probe during a visit. Leadership is praised by many for being accessible and helpful, yet other reviewers describe inconsistent communication, slow administrative follow‑through, and unclear accountability after incidents. For prospective residents and families, recommended topics to address include staffing ratios and weekend coverage, call‑response times, medication administration protocols, laundry and personal‑property procedures, infection‑control practices, room/bathroom accessibility, and how clinical incidents and family communication are managed. Overall, the facility offers strong rehabilitation services and many dedicated staff, but families should weigh those strengths against reported operational inconsistencies and verify current practices during an in‑person tour and discussion with leadership.

About Laureldale Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation

Laureldale Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center sits at 2125 Elizabeth Avenue in Laureldale, Pennsylvania, and serves seniors needing skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and both long-term and short-term care, with 198 certified beds and an average of about 175 residents each day, and they also have outpatient therapy available, so if you come straight from the hospital or need time to recover from illness or injury, the clinical and therapy teams work to help you get stronger with specialized care focused on each person's needs, interests, and abilities. The center has private and semi-private rooms, provides full dining services, gives residents phone access in rooms, offers housekeeping, and ensures internet and TV in each room, so there's comfort and some of the usual things you'd find at home, and people can relax in lounges or join in activities if they wish. The building's managed by Gregory Desarro since March 2024 and is owned by Genesis Pm Pa Operations LLC, which ties it in with Genesis Healthcare, and the staff try to provide quality care, though there are some important things to know, since in recent inspection reports, there were 21 noted deficiencies. Among those are concerns about resident rights, like not always telling families or residents right away about injuries or changes, and others related to safety, supervision, and even past issues with abuse, neglect, or exploitation, and those are things to be aware of because they matter when you're thinking about a place for yourself or someone you care for. The nurse staffing levels average 3.06 hours per resident per day, and the nurse turnover rate is quite high at 42.9%, so that means you might not always see the same face over time. Residents here get both medical and daily living help, but it's important to look closely at both the services and the inspection history before making any decisions about care.
