    Lovely well-maintained community with amenities

I live here and it's a lovely, well-maintained community in a convenient location. The staff are kind, attentive and compassionate - they uplift moods and are especially supportive in the Memory Care Terrace. There are many daily activities, attractive indoor/outdoor walking areas, a huge library and chapel, upscale dining with nourishing meals, and spacious, comfortable apartments. It truly feels like a home away from home and I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Redstone Highlands presents a mix of strong physical amenities and programmatic offerings alongside notable operational concerns. Many comments praise the campus: attractive, well-maintained common areas (including a large library and a spacious chapel), generous apartment layouts, pleasant dining rooms, and both indoor and outdoor walking areas. The community offers a broad activities calendar and visible social engagement; the memory-care Terrace in particular is frequently described as having caring, patient staff who provide meaningful daily programming. Front-desk and touring staff are often characterized as welcoming, and on-site conveniences such as a gift shop and upper-level balconies contribute to a higher-end residential impression.

Care quality and staffing show a more mixed picture. Several families described attentive, compassionate caregivers and staff who take time with residents; at the same time, a recurring operational pattern involves inconsistent clinical responsiveness. Specific concerns include difficulty reaching nursing staff when needs arise, delays in attending to medical issues, and perceived delays in escalations during critical events. These patterns have led to significant anxiety for some families and suggest variability in shift staffing, workload, or escalation protocols.

Dining and household services receive generally positive comments for presentation and menu variety, but there are occasional sanitation and food-service cleanliness concerns cited by families. Laundry and dressing-assistance processes were another area of inconsistency: reviewers noted clothing-management lapses and clothing presented incorrectly on residents, indicating gaps in oversight and daily care routines that prospective families should verify during a visit.

Staff conduct and management responsiveness are areas of divergence. While many frontline caregivers are described as kind, attentive, and supportive, reviewers also described variability in staff motivation and professionalism. Some reviewers perceived a strong administrative focus on finances and raised serious claims — including allegations of caregiver theft and concerns following a resident’s death — that warrant direct inquiry. Separately, several reviewers reported limited follow-through from corporate or leadership when feedback was submitted, suggesting room for improvement in complaint resolution and family communication processes.

Facilities and programming strengths are clear, but physical access to outdoor space is uneven: upper-level units have balconies while lower levels are described as less accommodating. Memory-care demand appears high, with reports of long waitlists despite positive remarks about the Terrace unit itself.

For prospective residents and families: weigh the facility’s strong amenities, social programming, and areas of praised caregiving against the operational concerns noted above. Ask targeted questions during a tour about nurse-call response times, staffing ratios on different shifts, incident escalation procedures, laundry and dressing-assistance protocols, kitchen inspection and sanitation practices, how allegations or incidents are investigated, and current memory-care waitlist policies. Request references from current families and inquire how leadership follows up on family feedback to get a clearer sense of day-to-day reliability and responsiveness.

    About Redstone Highlands

Redstone Highlands has options for seniors who want to live independently, need some daily help, or experience memory challenges, and folks can see the place for themselves by scheduling a tour in person or online, and there's more than one campus, including Greensburg, Murrysville at 4951 Cline Hollow Rd, and North Huntingdon, with a range of services like villa homes, apartments, personal care, memory care, and skilled nursing, so people can pick what suits their needs. Seniors who want to stay active can enjoy social events, devotional activities, day trips with RedstoneGoes, and access amenities like a fitness center, arts and crafts, a library, a chapel, a full salon, and a gift shop, while the dining areas offer chef-prepared, homestyle meals in a comfortable space. The community offers a full continuum of care as a nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), with flexible deposit and refund options depending on how long a resident stays, including low deposit choices and plans that refund 90% or 75% of the Entrance Fee over five years, which helps families plan.

Independent living comes in villa homes and senior apartments with layouts like one-bedroom, one-bedroom with a den, and two-bedrooms, and all have full kitchens and plenty of storage, so residents can live with fewer worries since housekeeping, maintenance, and transportation services are available, including complimentary rides for medical or personal needs. If someone needs help with tasks like bathing, dressing, or taking medication, personal care and advanced personal care are available, and some units provide memory care for those living with dementia or Alzheimer's, with a choice between private or semi-private rooms, and a secured courtyard for safe wandering. Memory care programs like The Terrace use Dr. Montessori's philosophy to encourage independence and routines, with activities tailored to what each person can do, and residents are helped by patient and supportive staff who break tasks into small, manageable steps and look out for their safety and well-being.

Redstone Highlands can support residents living with Parkinson's disease with special programs and fitness sessions, and if rehabilitation is needed after illness or surgery, physical therapy, and rehab center services are provided right on campus, with ancillary services for things like diabetes or incontinence care, plus specialized nurse staff, and short-term respite stays are an option for those recovering or giving caregivers a break. For people who want to live at home but need some help, Redstone@Home and home health aides help with companionship, non-medical support, and daily chores. The facility is recognized for a friendly, warm culture, where staff, residents, and families are welcomed, and pets, including dogs and cats, are considered on a case-by-case basis, depending on the situation, because animals are often important companions.

Residents can join Alzheimer's Support Groups led by trained staff, and the programs are open to both those with dementia and their care partners, offering a place to share experiences and advice, while routines and activities are designed to promote independence, let people relearn old skills, or enjoy new roles as they're able. The community also offers priority access to skilled nursing if a higher level of care ever becomes necessary, along with access to hospice and palliative care for those facing serious illness. Redstone Highlands welcomes folks from all backgrounds without regard to age, , or faith, and it's active with the Presbyterian Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, providing resources on aging, disaster recovery, and affordable housing. Safety, comfort, and respect shape the environment, and every effort is made to make services accessible through equipment, aids, or alternate locations, so people can age in the way that suits them best.
