    Caring staff and outstanding amenities

I've lived here for years and appreciate the caring, professional staff and outstanding on-site medical and wellness services. The grounds and interiors are spotless and attractive, dining is excellent, and there are abundant activities - art classes, concerts, clubs, pool and exercise facilities, library and more - plus apartment options with kitchens and laundry. It's a warm, well-run community with friendly residents and top-notch care that I highly recommend for independent, active living.

    Summary of reviews

Foxdale Village is consistently described as a high-quality, well-maintained senior living community with an upscale, campus-like feel. Reviewers emphasize exceptional cleanliness in public areas and restrooms, attractive landscaping, and thoughtfully maintained interior spaces. The property offers multiple housing types, including apartments with kitchens and laundry and garden-style options, and features a broad set of communal spaces such as a large library, meeting rooms, an auditorium, art studios, and dedicated activity rooms.

Clinical and daily-care capabilities are highlighted as a notable strength. Reviewers point to an integrated on-site medical and wellness team, convenient medication-management services (including home delivery and morning in-home visits), and generally attentive caregiving staff. Staff are frequently described as professional, caring, and respectful, and long resident tenures suggest stable relationships and continuity of care for many residents. At the same time, a recurring operational concern is limited availability of individualized one-on-one attention; several reviewers indicated that staffing levels can affect the degree of personalized care some residents receive.

Dining, activities, and social life are prominent features. The community is praised for a strong dining program with multiple dining venues and an emphasis on quality meals, as well as a lively schedule of arts, cultural, and music events—concerts, recitals, lectures, art classes, quilting, and clubs such as bridge are all mentioned. Resident-led committees and active social groups foster engagement and governance. That said, there is evidence of variability in how well activity offerings meet individual expectations: while many residents describe abundant choices and social engagement, others found the level or scheduling of activities less aligned with their needs.

From a management and practical perspective, Foxdale Village is characterized as well run and professionally managed, with amenities and services that reflect a premium positioning. The community's location in a university town is an added advantage for cultural and intellectual programming. The primary trade-offs cited by reviewers are cost—this is a higher-priced option—and some differences in amenity availability across housing types that can create confusion during touring or when comparing unit options. Prospective residents and families should clarify exact amenity access for their chosen housing type and discuss individualized care plans and staffing expectations during the decision process.

Overall, Foxdale Village presents as a polished, community-oriented option with strong clinical supports and a rich cultural and social program. It is especially suited to those seeking an upscale environment with integrated medical services and active arts programming; those requiring frequent, intensive one-on-one personal care or seeking a lower-cost option should confirm service-level details and pricing before committing.

    About Foxdale Village

Foxdale Village sits on a 23-acre campus with mountain views, landscaped courtyards, and flower gardens, and it has many places for residents to walk or relax outdoors, and you'll find cottages and apartments-148 cottages on 21 acres and 57 apartments in a connected building-so people have options for where to live with different floor plans for independent living, all maintenance-free, so there's time to focus on personal growth, hobbies, and friendships, and with three dining venues-the Dining Room, Café, or Bistro-meals are part of daily life and included for many types of residents, plus there's laundry service, lounge areas, Wi-Fi, and parking, and everything is wheelchair accessible, with full tubs and showers for ease and comfort.

Foxdale Village is a nonprofit and Quaker-directed continuing care retirement community, approved by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission and first started in 1990, so it's been around a while, and the mission focuses on creating a place where older people can stay active and involved, keep their independence as much as possible, and have support as their needs change over time, and you'll find compassion in the staff and the residents, many of whom volunteer through the Life Enrichment department, and there are resident-led interest groups and a focus on unique experiences and dignity.

Residents get care that fits their needs, with a choice of living fully on their own, getting some help in assisted living, or getting support with personal care in Darlington House, where staff help with medication, hygiene, and everyday tasks, while allowing as much independence as possible, and for those needing skilled nursing care, the Anthony House has private rooms and 24/7 support, and there are also neighborhoods for memory care and early memory loss support, and each of these areas has activities and safety features for comfort and well-being, including customized plans and engaging events to keep minds active.

Health and wellness are a big part of life at Foxdale Village, with fitness and balance classes, on-site medical clinic, outpatient and home care services, and therapy programs-physical, occupational, speech, and language rehabilitation are all right on campus-so residents don't have to go far for most of their needs, and when it comes to hobbies and entertainment, the community building has a library, art studio, computer room, and plenty of scheduled activities, and there are always groups for bridge, puzzles, and games, plus educational lectures, music events, movies, weekly trips, and outings, and you can join spiritual and religious services for spiritual growth, both on campus and off.

Foxdale Village has legal protections for LGBTQ residents in housing and public accommodations, and the community has features for comfort and accessibility, such as wheelchair-friendly showers, garages, and parking spaces, but specifics about flooring and entrance levels are not detailed, and rentals can have patios, pools, hot tubs, spas, barbecue areas, doormen, waterfront views, and fitness centers depending on availability, and transportation is available at cost, while the property sits near a bus line for extra convenience.

The community welcomes seniors who want independent or assisted living, memory care, respite care, or hospice services, so residents and families can plan for the future with the help of staff in the Residency Planning Office, and a Clinical Liaison helps guide people into personal care, skilled nursing, memory care, and short-term rehab, and there are more than 24 private rooms for personal and skilled care, with meal and housekeeping services included, and everything's focused on comfort, social activity, wellness, and making things as simple as possible for older adults.
