    Roomy apartment with attentive staff

I live here and have a roomy single apartment with a full bath; the staff are consistently caring, treat residents like family, and are attentive to memory-care and medical needs. The community is clean and welcoming with nice common areas (TV lounge, bird aquarium), tasty meals, and a strong activities program (music, outings, therapeutic recreation); leadership and healthcare are professional and responsive, so I'd recommend this well-run place.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Westminster Memory Care receives consistently positive feedback for its dementia-focused program, compassionate staff, and range of resident services. Review content emphasizes a welcoming, home-like environment staffed by personnel described as professional, kind, and attentive. Clinical oversight is highlighted as a strength, with praise for an involved nurse practitioner and an established hospice partnership for end-of-life support.

Care and staff: Many comments emphasize individualized attention, strong memory-care expertise, and a culture in which staff treat residents like family. Families and third-party providers have noted effective leadership and responsive administration. At the same time, a subset of reviews raised operational concerns about staff competency and on-floor attentiveness. These concerns center on gaps in training for personal-care (ADL) techniques and variability in supervision and performance. Prospective families may wish to ask about staff training, supervision protocols, turnover rates, and hiring/screening procedures during a tour to understand how the community addresses those areas.

Dining and activities: Dining is frequently praised for quality and taste; the food-services leadership receives specific commendation. The activities program is a clear strength — reviewers cite therapeutic recreation, musical guests, outings (including bus trips and local events), and social programming that aim to keep residents engaged. Reviewers repeatedly note that programming appears designed with resident enjoyment and comfort in mind.

Facilities and environment: The physical environment is described as clean, comfortable, and home-like. Highlights include single apartments with private bathrooms and space for personal furniture, inviting common areas, a TV lounge, and features such as a bird aquarium and ample indoor walking space. These elements contribute to a peaceful, resident-centered atmosphere.

Management and notable patterns: Leadership and administrative responsiveness are recurrent positives; reviewers describe hands-on management and a professional approach. The dominant pattern across reviews is high satisfaction with care, activities, and dining. The primary operational weakness mentioned involves inconsistent staff competency and supervision — not a pervasive pattern in the broader review set but significant enough to warrant direct questions from prospective families. Overall, Westminster Memory Care presents as a well-managed, activity-rich memory-care community with strong clinical support and a family-oriented culture, tempered by the recommendation to verify staff training, supervision, and hiring practices at the time of a visit.

    About Westminster Memory Care

Westminster Memory Care of Lexington provides a safe and comfortable place for people with memory challenges like Alzheimer's and other types of dementia, and the staff here have caring attitudes and special training for dementia care, so residents get focused help that responds to their individual needs, and the process starts with a Roundtable meeting to make a personal care plan for each person and then gets checked over again every 90 days to adjust as needs change; there's a dedicated administrator running things, and the community stays secure with features designed for safety, support, and comfort. The building's full of inviting spaces, like private bedrooms set up for peace, large dining rooms and well-lit kitchens with stylish furniture, cozy seating, fireplace, and elegant finishes, plus hallways decorated with old photos and green plants, as well as a music room with a grand piano for lively activities. The care team works with on-call doctors, and registered dietitians make sure meals meet health and personal needs, with a menu that uses seasonal ingredients and favorites, while the Joyfully Exceptional Dining experience means chef-prepared meals in a relaxed, pretty dining room with snacks at the kitchen island, so there's always something to enjoy. Memory care at Westminster includes help with daily tasks, housekeeping, short-term stays, transportation, and activities designed to match each resident's interests and abilities, with an activity calendar, a blog, newsletter, and testimonials to keep families connected. The programs-like Nourish and Class Act-focus on keeping seniors healthy and involved through good meals and meaningful activities, and the whole place aims to offer both security and a sense of belonging for people facing cognitive loss.
