    Outstanding rehab and caring staff

I'm grateful for the incredibly caring, knowledgeable staff who made the hospital→rehab→assisted-living transition smooth and kept our family well informed. The therapy team was outstanding - intense, nearly two-hour daily PT/OT sessions - and my dad made dramatic gains (off the feeding tube, walking on his own). The place is spotless and home-like with restaurant-style meals, waterfront outdoor spaces and lots of activities; leadership (Christina, Kevin and the nursing/therapy teams) consistently went above and beyond. I would recommend this community for strong medical/rehab support and a warm, social atmosphere.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews describe a facility that delivers strong clinical and rehabilitative care for many residents while also exhibiting operational variability that prospective families should evaluate closely. Strengths most consistently noted include an accomplished therapy program (physical, occupational and speech therapy), intensive daily rehabilitation options and programs such as a structured memory-care/stimulation curriculum. Many families credited the clinical team with rapid, measurable improvements in mobility, feeding and medical stability following acute events.

Staff are frequently described as compassionate, attentive and experienced; several comments call out long-tenured employees and specific staff members by name. Housekeeping, laundry and room maintenance receive numerous positive remarks, and assisted-living units are often characterized as bright, home-like and independence-friendly. The waterfront location, outdoor seating, walking areas and on-site social programming — from arts and crafts to exercise classes and outings — are regular positives, and the facility offers a range of room types and support services (transportation, haircare, on-site physicians/PA, and restaurant-style dining options).

At the same time, a noticeable pattern of operational concerns emerges across reviews. Meal quality and service consistency are uneven: while some reviewers praise restaurant-style presentation and varied menus, others report cold or poorly prepared meals and limited substitutions. Staffing levels and responsiveness are cited as a recurring issue in multiple accounts, with families describing delays in assistance, variability in caregiver skills and, in some cases, clinical errors related to medication administration. Cleanliness and sanitation appear inconsistent across units: many reviewers describe well-kept areas, while others report pest-control concerns, unfinished repairs and maintenance lapses such as loose fixtures or ceiling issues.

Communication and management follow-through are additional recurrent themes. Families describe inconsistent information flow, billing confusion and variable responsiveness to complaints; a number of reviews reference unclear admissions or public-benefits handling (Medicaid/Medicare limitations or enrollment difficulties). Memory-care placement and the physical arrangement of care wings raise questions for some visitors about how well the facility separates or aligns levels of cognitive care with assisted-living populations.

In summary, Myrtle Beach Manor presents a mixed but instructive profile: notable clinical and rehabilitative strengths plus many examples of personalized, compassionate caregiving, set within an older-but-maintained campus with attractive outdoor amenities. Prospective residents and families should prioritize an in-person assessment that focuses on three operational areas: current staffing levels and response times, medication-administration procedures and documentation, and unit-specific cleanliness/maintenance and pest-control status. Requesting recent inspection records, sample menus and a meeting with the therapy and nursing leadership can help clarify whether the facility’s strong clinical programs and caring staff align with an individual resident’s safety and daily-care needs.
