    Helpful staff and clean community

I live here and am very pleased - the staff are consistently helpful and responsive, with special recognition for Mandie and Gary, and the owners/management stay engaged. My apartment and the building are very clean, with in-unit services, meals and housekeeping available, and friendly, compatible neighbors in a beautiful location. It's a dependable, well-run place for independent seniors that I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Small Town Senior Living at Deer Ridge is presented in reviews as an independent-living community with clear strengths around staff, cleanliness, and basic service offerings. Many reviewers praise the responsiveness and helpfulness of the team, along with a generally clean, well-maintained facility and apartments. Housekeeping and meal services are highlighted as regular features, and several comments single out maintenance and front-line staff for particularly attentive service. The community’s location and a friendly resident population are also described positively, and the application process is characterized as efficient.

Care quality as described in the feedback aligns with an independent-living model: staff are available to assist with non-medical needs, and reviewers emphasize supportive interactions and an environment that meets the needs of largely independent residents. A number of reviewers noted improved care under new or engaged management and cited individual staff members for outstanding service, which suggests strengths in day-to-day staff–resident interactions and maintenance responsiveness.

Dining and services are presented as reliable components of the offering; meals and housekeeping are available and in-apartment services are offered. Activity opportunities appear more limited. At least one commenter noted minimal participation in activities, indicating that programming or resident engagement may not be robust or may not meet all residents’ expectations. Prospective residents who prioritize a busy activity calendar may want to review the current schedule and participation levels.

Management and pricing are areas of mixed feedback. Several reviewers praised responsive ownership and management, while other comments describe inconsistent management performance and raise serious concerns about discriminatory behavior. These contrasting views point to variability in leadership or policy enforcement over time or between staff. Affordability is similarly mixed: some describe the community as meeting the needs of independent residents and affordable, while others consider the rent high and are contemplating relocation for cost reasons. Prospective residents should clarify current fee structures, what is included in rent, and any pending changes in leadership or policies.

Overall, Deer Ridge appears to offer a clean, service-oriented independent-living environment with attentive staff and an agreeable location. Key decision points for families and residents are the current management stability and culture, the activity program’s fit with the resident’s preferences, and detailed cost/value calculations. A recommended next step is an in-person visit to observe staff interactions, review the activity calendar, inspect apartment services, and discuss contract terms and any recent management changes directly with ownership or administration.
