    Compassionate care in homelike facility

I've been very pleased with the compassionate, communicative nurses and caring staff across techs, dining and housekeeping. The nonprofit, Christian facility is clean and home-like, with good food, plenty of activities (live music, Bible study, outings) and a high staff-to-resident ratio - nurses practically down the hall. My family and I are grateful for the respectful, dignified care and the safe, comfortable apartment that feels like home.

    Summary of reviews

Stones River Manor elicits strongly mixed but specific impressions. A substantial portion of feedback praises the caregiving team: reviewers describe compassionate nurses, aides and therapists, 24/7 clinical coverage, and the ability to support aging in place including hospice services. Families frequently compliment staff communication, thoughtful orientation for new residents, and a generally warm, home-like social environment. The facility’s faith-based, nonprofit identity is central to its culture; regular worship services, Bible study and other spiritual supports are available and valued by many residents.

Dining and programming are prominent positives for many residents — the community offers family dining events, hot meals served on schedule, afternoon snacks, and special dining occasions. Recreational offerings are broad: arts-and-crafts, live music, puzzle and game areas, bingo, garden and gazebo spaces, frequent off-site trips, and themed events such as an annual arts fair and yard sale. There are convenient amenities like an aviary and aquarium, activity rooms, and well-kept outdoor areas that support social engagement and mobility for walkers and wheelchairs.

At the same time, reviews show recurring operational concerns. Food quality and meal service reliability are inconsistent across accounts, ranging from praise to serious dissatisfaction. Pest-control concerns, including slow remediation, appear as a notable operational weakness that prospective families should inquire about. Several accounts point to uneven staff professionalism and occasional lapses in infection-control practices and PPE adherence; these indicate variability in day-to-day practice rather than uniform performance. Maintenance responsiveness (for requests such as Wi‑Fi hookup) and limited privacy-policy flexibility (strict prohibitions on in-room cameras) were also raised as issues.

Facility layout and housing choices are strengths for many but have trade-offs. The campus is large, well-landscaped and largely single-story, which users find easy to navigate; multiple housing styles and secured memory-care units are offered. However, some apartments and resident rooms are described as small and lacking kitchenettes in certain units. The memory-care neighborhood is relatively large, which some reviewers worry may be less suitable for residents who need smaller, more contained groups and more individualized stimulation.

Management and governance produce mixed impressions. Many families praise an upfront director, thorough admissions orientation, and proactive family communication. Conversely, there are allegations concerning administrative transparency, additional fees (for example meeting-room charges), and accountability for staff conduct in some instances. Given the polarized feedback — from highly satisfied families to accounts describing serious operational problems — prospective residents and families would benefit from an in-person tour, conversations with current residents and families, and targeted questions about pest-control history, staffing continuity and ratios, medication/meal-timing procedures, infection-control protocols, memory-care programming specifics, housekeeping schedules, and a clear written fee schedule before making a placement decision.

    About Stones River Manor

Stones River Manor sits in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and offers many levels of care in a single-story building with private rooms and a friendly, home-like atmosphere where people feel comfortable and secure, so you know you're not far from help or a friendly face if you need it, and there are five levels of assisted living services (including memory care), as well as independent living apartments with both one and two-bedroom floor plans, with each resident able to enjoy weekly housekeeping, laundry, meals, cable television, and utilities included, and there's a dining room and amenities all close together for folks who have special needs or trouble getting around. Skilled nursing and rehabilitation services are available, whether for advanced care or after a hospital stay, and Stones River Manor also offers assured care for memory loss, adult day care, and respite care services, which means both full-time and short-term support can be found here. The team includes nurses who provide monthly health checks and can help with medications up to five times daily, and Resident Assistants can help with bathing, dressing, grooming, and incontinence care, with extra supplies at additional cost if needed. Spiritual counseling, regular worship services, and Bible studies form an important part of life here, since Stones River Manor is the only faith-based, nonprofit senior community in Rutherford County, and that Christian not-for-profit approach shapes their caring environment and family-like community, where staff members like Mindy Clark, Mary Kovach, and Mr. Kirkland A. Mason work to make life supportive and add a bit of kindness each day. There's transportation for errands, fitness and recreation options, activities and events to help residents make friends, and both adult day care and physical rehabilitation chairs are available, so people who are independent or need some extra support, or even specialized care can find a place here, with or without memory needs. Laundry gets picked up each week, housekeeping includes bathroom cleaning and vacuuming, and there's prompting for meals, activities, or even beauty shop visits for those who need reminders, plus a nurse checks on everyone every month. Meals are served three times daily, and the staff try to make sure everyone gets support for living the way they'd like with as much independence as possible, with amenities and social activities for all assisted living levels. Stones River Manor has been around since 1997, and through all that time, it's stayed focused on providing honest, compassionate care in a Christian environment for people in their later years. For full details, there's a website with more information, and the main services run Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 16:30.
