Warm staff, clean apartments, excellent care

I moved my dad here and we're very pleased - the staff are warm, attentive, and truly go above and beyond (they even take him to VA appointments). The apartments are roomy and clean, meals are delicious, and there are lots of activities plus onsite PT/OT and memory-care options to keep him engaged and safe. Move-in was smooth, management and director are wonderful, and it's great value with a home-like, caring community I'd happily recommend.

    Summary of reviews

The Bentley - Sky Active Living elicits a mixed but distinct pattern of strengths and operational weaknesses. Positive feedback centers on a warm, resident-focused culture: many families describe staff as caring, accessible, and personally engaged. The dining program is frequently praised for creative menus and restaurant-style service, and the community offers a broad activities program (fitness, arts and crafts, movie nights, seasonal events) plus on-site therapy/rehab and salon services. Physically, reviewers note large, renovated common areas and comfortable apartment options, some with balconies, and the facility is often described as a relatively good-value option in its market.

Care quality and staffing are described inconsistently across reviews. Numerous accounts highlight dedicated caregivers, helpful front-office staff, and an involved admissions team; several reviewers specifically commended individual managers and directors. At the same time, other families reported variability in responsiveness, limits to assistance for residents with greater dependency, and concerns about staff conduct and communication (including allegations of inappropriate or discriminatory behavior). There are also serious operational complaints that include alleged removal of resident belongings and questions about billing transparency; these allegations merit verification during a tour and contract review.

Dining is a clear strength for many residents: the chef, meal variety, and included dining service receive frequent positive mention. However, reviewers also describe inconsistencies in meal quality and delivery — examples include undercooked or heavily fried entrees, limited vegetable options, portion concerns, and occasional missed or misrouted meal deliveries. Prospective residents should ask about meal-delivery procedures, dietary accommodations, and how food-quality issues are handled.

Activities and ancillary services are robust and a principal attraction for social engagement. The community offers structured programs, therapy services, transportation to shopping and medical appointments, and pet-friendly options. That said, transportation reliability and certain service availabilities (for example, scheduled drivers) were described as inconsistent by some families. Technical infrastructure also varies by building: cottages reportedly experience weaker internet connectivity than the main building, which may affect residents who rely on stable service.

Facility operations show a split pattern: many areas are clean and well maintained, and portions of the property have been recently renovated, but other reviews cite sanitation and maintenance lapses. Specific operational issues include pest-control concerns within units, reports of mold or ceiling problems, and inconsistent completion of promised weekly housekeeping. Maintenance response times were reported as slow in some cases. Safety-related concerns include inadequate nighttime lighting and unlocked entrances after dark in certain areas, which reviewers see as a security gap to address with management.

Management and governance receive both praise and criticism. Several families point to strong, responsive directors and visible improvements under current management; others describe inconsistent oversight, a business-oriented approach to operations, and poor follow-through on complaints. Given the variation in experiences, prospective residents and families should schedule an on-site visit, speak with the on-site manager, review recent inspection or pest-control records, request documentation of staffing ratios and response-time expectations, and confirm billing and move-in/move-out policies. Overall, The Bentley offers many of the amenities and social opportunities sought in independent and assisted living, but prospective residents should verify operational controls for sanitation, security, maintenance responsiveness, meal reliability, and billing transparency before committing.

People who want independence can find it here in apartment homes ranging from 372 to 1018 square feet, with choices like cozy studios, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms, or even cottage units, all of them spacious and pet-friendly, with features like bright windows, cozy living rooms, kitchenettes, closets, accessible bathrooms with grab bars, and some with serene lanai backyards or patios. The three-story building has elegant touches like hardwood floors, high-ceilinged dining rooms set for meals, and a chandelier in the multi-story lobby, but the main draw for many is probably the easy, maintenance-free lifestyle, where staff handle housekeeping, lawn care, and Wi-Fi, and where there's a 24-hour call system, medication management, and personal emergency response devices included for extra peace of mind.

The Bentley offers a wide mix of services including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and respite care, so people can choose what works best and get a bit more help if and when they need it, and there's a special area called The Bridges Community for more support. The facility offers three chef-prepared, restaurant-style meals each day in a renovated dining room, and folks can join in on fitness classes, monthly tech talks, happy hours, live music, and all sorts of social activities, with a game room for pool or cards, a TV lounge, and a library for quiet time. The on-site salon has everything from styling chairs to manicure stations, and there's a private dining space for special gatherings, plus outdoor walking paths and landscaped grounds for fresh air. Complimentary transportation takes residents out to shopping, sports, museums, and the Dallas Galleria, and the community encourages pets, making it easy for animal lovers to settle in. With its suburban feel and vibrant neighborhood, The Bentley's designed so people can live an active and engaged life, whether that's using the fitness equipment, relaxing in the naturally lit atrium with loved ones, or getting out to enjoy all that Dallas has to offer.
