    Attentive staff, excellent rehab care

I trusted this beautiful, well-maintained facility with my mother after hip surgery and was impressed - attentive, friendly staff, outstanding physical therapy, seamless transition, great activities and food, and solid memory-care support. The building is clean and welcoming, staff went out of their way, and communication was generally strong. I did notice occasional staffing shortages, slow call-light responses, and some administrative/billing hiccups, so stay involved. Overall I highly recommend it for rehab and long-term care.

About The Villages of Lake Highlands

The Villages of Lake Highlands sits in Dallas, close to major hospitals like City Hospital White Rock and Medical City Dallas, as well as neighborhoods including Lakewood, Richardson, and Park Cities, and offers a wide range of care options for seniors, so folks can get everything from assisted living and skilled nursing to dedicated memory care for Alzheimer's or dementia, with a staffed secured memory village to help prevent confusion and wandering, and they have a helpful quarantine area for new guests. The community provides comfortable rooms with amenities such as kitchens or kitchenettes, safety features, washer and dryer access, cable TV, and beautiful furnishings, plus outdoor courtyards, so residents can enjoy a relaxed, residential environment instead of an institutional feel, and with 54 companion suites and 100 private guest rooms, there's some choice in how folks want to live. Everyone gets access to a dining room with nutritious, chef-prepared meals and there's friendly help with things like bathing, dressing, grooming, and laundry, while nurses are always on-site 24/7 including nights and holidays, and there's even an on-site pharmacy that's always staffed. The Villages features a 4,000 square foot gym full of advanced therapy equipment and a real apartment setup so folks recovering from illness or injury can practice daily tasks-like making the bed, emptying the dishwasher, and stepping into bathtubs-to help get home safely, and their therapy outcomes are more than twice what the industry sees. People staying here can get physical, speech, and occupational therapy; wound care; and a team that has three licensed nursing home administrators and two in training, which means higher staffing levels than most places. Nursing assistants provide help with medication, walking, and toileting, and their dedicated staff includes nurses, podiatrists, and personal care assistants who are often called kind and helpful. Residents and visitors use WiFi, guest parking, and wheelchair-accessible entry, and rooms are kept clean by housekeeping and maintenance services. Social activities, arts and crafts, health programs, outings, and a resident lounge give folks things to do, and there's also a salon and barbershop and a games room. The Villages is open seven days a week with visiting restrooms and plenty of parking, and it takes long-term care insurance and accepts payment options like Medicare and Medicaid. The community's earned honors like the U.S. News Best Nursing Home and Best of Senior Living awards, and is a preferred network provider for Southwestern Health Resources, reflecting their record of consistent quality care. They encourage tours-virtual or in-person-as well as initial assessments, so people can figure out if the care, staffing, finance options, and licensing fit what they need, and they suggest looking into certification records, inspection reports, and understanding the differences between skilled nursing, assisted, and independent living, so families make the choice that's right for them.
