    Compassionate care clean facility activities

I'm pleased with the compassionate, helpful staff and the excellent medical and daily care my aunt receives. Rooms and common areas are very clean, bright, and comfortably furnished with nice grounds. Meals are tasty-restaurant-quality-with regular snacks, and there are plentiful activities (Bingo, cards, books, exercise, outings) plus shuttle and errand services. Overall a caring, well-run community I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Tandy Village presents a mixed picture. Many comments praise the physical environment, dining, activities, and aspects of clinical care, while other input raises operational concerns related to housekeeping, staffing, communication, and resident safeguards.

Care quality and staff: Multiple accounts describe compassionate, attentive nursing and daily-care staff, and some families report excellent clinical follow-through. At the same time, there are recurring indications of inconsistent staff responsiveness and variability in staff conduct toward residents and visitors. Reviewers also described periods of understaffing and limited oversight, which correlate with delayed responses to clinical events and administrative requests. There are articulated concerns about medication-management practices that prospective families should seek to clarify directly with clinical leadership.

Dining and activities: Dining is consistently cited as a strength — meals are described as tasty and higher quality than typical institutional fare, with healthy options and regular snacks. The activities program is also viewed positively: residents have access to games (cards, dominoes, bingo), exercise, a large library, social/outdoor events, and organized outings including shopping and entertainment trips. Shared transportation services and occasional special services (for example, tax-preparation assistance) are additional programmatic benefits.

Facilities and housekeeping: The facility’s physical plant receives favorable comments for landscaping, bright common areas, and comfortable furnishings. However, there are contrasting observations about cleanliness: while some visitors describe well-kept, pleasant-smelling areas, others describe sanitation concerns in particular rooms or corridors and raise pest-control concerns in some units. These discrepancies suggest variability in housekeeping consistency between areas or over time.

Management, communication, and safeguards: Several reviews describe problems with billing transparency, difficulty reaching corporate contacts, and limited communication around room changes or incidents. There are also serious individual claims, including allegations of theft and concerns about medication handling; these are significant and merit direct verification with facility management and regulators. Overall, the pattern indicates gaps in incident-response protocols and family notification practices that prospective families should evaluate.

What prospective residents/families should consider: Tandy Village appears to offer strong programming, social opportunities, and quality dining for many residents, with capable clinical services in place. At the same time, variability in housekeeping, staff responsiveness, and administrative communication create uneven experiences. When evaluating the community, ask about current staffing ratios and turnover, housekeeping schedules and pest-control measures, medication-administration policies and oversight, incident-reporting and family-notification procedures, and financial safeguards and billing practices. A guided tour and conversations with clinical and administrative leaders should help determine whether the facility’s strengths align with an individual resident’s needs and expectations.

    About Tandy Village Assisted Living

Tandy Village Assisted Living sits on almost four acres at 2601 Tandy Avenue, four miles east of downtown Fort Worth, and spreads out over two buildings with about 70,000 square feet, including a building from 1971 that's nearly 30,000 square feet, and is licensed for up to 160 beds, though occupancy is over 90 percent right now and it's got both private and semi-private rooms, including studio apartments, with double rooms divided for privacy, kitchens in rooms, private closets, and extra storage and all the rooms are fully carpeted with tiled kitchenettes. You'll find indoor and outdoor common areas, gardens, patios, and a unique "Village" area with a stage for live shows, an ice cream parlor, a museum, library, and big-screen TV, plus a town square interior with old-fashioned street sign decorations to help residents find their way. The building started as a school in 1982 and got renovated in 2015, and still has that roomy, friendly setup with floor-to-ceiling windows and mesh screens to keep light pleasant, and there's parking for both guests and residents.

This community provides assisted living, memory care, independent living, respite care, and has a secured Alzheimer's unit with sixteen rooms and a separate dining area for those with Alzheimer's, plus it offers health services like diabetic care, incontinence care, in-house skilled nursing, medication help, and staff on site 24/7, along with a call system to handle emergencies around the clock and help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and moving. Plenty of recreational things go on, like physical fitness classes, organized on-site and off-site activities, religious services, movie nights, music programs, a game room, wellness room, spa, sauna, and devotional events. Residents get balanced meals from chefs and meal planners, with special diets like low-fat if that's needed, snacks, coffee, and drinks are out all day and guests can join at meal times, and there's laundry and dry-cleaning for clothes and linens, and housekeeping too.

There's community dining plus kitchenettes for those who want to prepare their own snacks, and the place allows some pets, has advice and planning services, offers transportation for outings as well as free community-operated rides to appointments, and provides English and Spanish language support. Security is strong with secured grounds. The building's zoning allows for multifamily use, but it works best as an assisted living setup and is licensed as such in Texas under License #308711. Tandy Village has drawn health inspection citations before for flies and fruit flies. Seniors living here are close to lots of essential services like Walmart Pharmacy, local parks, and medical facilities including JPS Hospital and physicians nearby. Meals, care, and services come under an all-inclusive pricing structure, and help is always available for those who need it with aging, wellness, and personal care at the center of what they do.
