    Warm staff, great activities, flaws

I placed my mom here and overall I'm pleased: the staff are warm, compassionate and treat residents like family, activities are outstanding (Wanda/Lola deserve praise), and the facility feels clean, home-like with roomy apartments and attentive maintenance. Big negatives: the Accushield front-desk system is frustrating, the food is often bland or cold, and high staff turnover/temporary shortages can slow responses. Memory care is generally good but full at times, and the building is older with rising prices. Despite flaws, I feel my loved one is safe, engaged, and well cared for.

    About Whitley Place

Whitley Place does a lot for seniors who need some help as they get older, and you'll find assisted living and memory care all in one community, so folks with Alzheimer's or other memory problems have safe housing and support in a calm place that tries to keep them from getting confused or wandering. The staff stay there around the clock, always ready to help with bathing, dressing, medication, or anything else people need for daily life, and there's a full-time activity director and food service coordinator on hand. If folks need extra care, Whitley Place offers things like medication management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, health checks, and supervised exercise. There's 24/7 staffing and an emergency call system for peace of mind, and the memory care area has special safety measures. Seniors live in private studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, each with walk-in showers, small fridges, a kitchenette, a private bathroom, smoke alarms, and emergency pull cords-you can even get extra storage if you need it. Residents get three meals a day and snacks in a shared dining room with big windows and comfy chairs, and the housekeeping staff takes care of laundry, cleaning, and suite repairs to keep things tidy.

Whitley Place feels like a small neighborhood, with quiet corners and big open rooms, patterned carpets, soft lighting, and a commons with cozy couches, a coffee station, and wide entryways, so walking with a cane or wheelchair's a bit easier. There's a well-stocked library with audiobooks and large-print books, a music room, living and dining areas, individual mailboxes, and even a resident spa and salon, plus a billiards room for passing the time with friends. People can walk outdoors on landscaped grounds with walking paths, shady gazebos, and patios or balconies off some units. Residents join in all kinds of activities-bingo, Bible study, social events, in-house clubs, and daily exercise classes-while pet therapy and a pet-friendly policy mean folks can bring their favorite animals along. Transportation services take residents to doctor's visits, shopping, or community events. Whitley Place also offers diabetic care, geriatric services, on-site visits from doctors and dieticians, and transportation for outside appointments. Both cable/satellite TV and Wi-Fi are available in apartments and common areas. Religious services happen on site.

Civitas Senior Living runs the place and shows off photos and videos so people can get a good look at the community before visiting. Whitley Place serves seniors 55 and older, and the care levels can range from a little help now and then to more hands-on support, with the goal of helping everyone keep as much independence and comfort as possible.
