    Moved my mom; highly recommend

I moved my mom into this community and I'm very pleased. The facility is beautiful, clean, and well-kept; staff are warm, friendly and very helpful; apartments are spacious with great views and modern finishes, and there are fantastic amenities and activities (pool, gym, therapy services, dining, outings) with convenient access to medical care - I happily recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Lake Travis Independent Living presents as a modern, well-appointed senior community with many features families and prospective residents value. The property’s physical environment is frequently described as clean, hotel-like and well maintained, with spacious apartments, upgraded finishes (granite counters, modern appliances), attractive common areas, and scenic balcony/lake views. On-site amenities are comprehensive: restaurant-style dining, a 24-hour bistro, theater, fitness center and pool, salon, library, wellness rooms, and on-site therapy and caregiving services that some families characterize as excellent.

Staffing and daily care are a central strength for many residents. Numerous accounts highlight attentive, compassionate caregivers, a welcoming admissions/marketing team, and front-desk personnel who contribute to a family-like atmosphere. Residents consistently praise the activity program: a robust schedule that includes exercise classes, water aerobics, outings to restaurants and local attractions, themed parties, creative groups, and educational opportunities. The community’s proximity to a hospital and retail center is a practical benefit frequently noted for safety and convenience.

Dining and service quality are mixed. Several accounts praise fresh, delicious meals and improved dining oversight; others describe inconsistent food preparation, limited menu variety, and slow service at times. Management has implemented corrective steps (supervisor table checks, distributor changes, town-hall updates), and some reviewers indicate progress, but dining continuity remains a recurrent operational issue.

Management and operations show a clear pattern of variability. Positive experiences with committed staff and particular managers are contrasted with accounts of high staff turnover, leadership changes, and service reductions—especially during and after the pandemic. Maintenance responsiveness and staffing shortages are recurrent operational weaknesses: many residents note prompt repairs when maintenance is available, while others describe delays and slow work orders when staffing is constrained. Communication about pricing, service changes, and transportation has also been a source of dissatisfaction for some families. There are serious allegations in a subset of accounts concerning financial management and the prioritization of profit over resident services; these are significant and warrant direct inquiry by prospective residents and family decision‑makers.

Overall, Lake Travis Independent Living appears to deliver a high-quality physical environment, active social programming, and many committed staff members who create a warm community for residents. However, operational inconsistencies—particularly around dining, staffing stability, maintenance responsiveness, and management communication—produce variable experiences. Prospective residents and families should verify current staffing levels, review dining/meal-plan details in writing, confirm transportation availability, and ask for documentation about fees and recent leadership changes during tours and contract negotiations to ensure the community’s present performance aligns with their expectations.

    About Lake Travis Independent Living

Lake Travis Independent Living sits in Lakeway, Texas, about 30 minutes from downtown Austin, and the building's three stories have a clean, modern look with bright interiors and updated furnishings, and the whole place is built to help seniors feel safe and comfortable, whether they want privacy in their own apartment or a chance to meet new friends in the shared community spaces. The community runs independent living, assisted living, memory care, and nursing home services, so residents can get different types of help if they need it, and the team looks after daily life like cleaning, linens, housekeeping, and scheduled rides where needed.

There are 140 apartments-studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms-with walk-in showers and closets, stone countertops, stainless dishwashers, and even balconies or patios on some units, and the apartments are pet-friendly with room for two cats or dogs after a fee. Bills like water, electric, and cable are included. A limited building access policy helps keep everyone comfortable.

Seniors living here use all kinds of spaces, both indoors and outside, like the art center, theater room, library, clubhouse, and a pool with a patio. Residents can join painting classes, fitness groups, and clubs, plus try learning new things, volunteering, or playing the piano in the dining area, and people love cooking out at the grilling areas or taking in the views from the balconies. There are also group gatherings, scheduled activities, and outings, and the on-site salon means you don't have to go far for a haircut.

Dining focuses on fresh, healthy ingredients and menus that change often, using local produce and resident feedback. Housekeeping comes bi-weekly, and services cover maintenance, cleaning, and linen help, so seniors have more energy for the things they enjoy. The community allows life at your own pace, so you can cook meals in your own kitchen, hang out with neighbors, or just sit back and relax in your space. The staff listens to what the residents like, and the calendar shifts to fit everyone's interests, making it easy to feel at home and stay involved as much-or as little-as you want.
