    Peaceful clean compassionate memory care

I placed my mom here and feel real peace of mind - the small, home-like memory residences are clean, bright and safe, with made-to-order meals and engaging activities. The staff and owners are compassionate, highly trained, and incredibly responsive (regular photo/condition updates, quick placement and individualized care). I highly recommend this facility - it's nearly perfect for our needs, with only minor room for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed but clearly patterned picture of Sundara Senior Living. Many families describe a small-home, memory-care model that feels domestic rather than institutional: two residences with 16-bed households, home-cooked and made-to-order meals, and staff who are perceived as warm, individualized, and emotionally supportive. Owners and directors are frequently cited as accessible and comforting, and several accounts emphasize quick placement, smooth transition assistance, culturally tailored programming, and built-in pricing that families found straightforward. For some residents the setting appears to provide safety, dignity, and meaningful one-on-one attention.

At the same time, a number of substantive operational concerns recur across reviews. The most significant are clinical- and process-related: medication-administration errors, lapses following physician orders, and other medication-management control weaknesses. Related issues include inconsistent dementia-specialty training among staff and variable staffing levels that affect responsiveness and timeliness of care. There are also descriptions of gaps in clinical coordination and emergency readiness (for example, oxygen-management and inter-provider communication breakdowns) that families should evaluate when placing a medically complex resident.

Environmental and service-delivery issues are another common theme. Some families reported housekeeping and maintenance operation gaps, including room and bathroom cleanliness and delayed repairs or replacements. Meal service is described positively in several accounts but inconsistently in others; concerns include variable food quality, high-sodium choices, and limited visible hydration options. Activity programming receives mixed feedback as well — while some homes offer engaging, individualized activity and chores suited to residents with dementia, others lack visible calendars, resident-centered scheduling, or sufficient cognitive-engagement offerings.

Communication, oversight, and hiring practices are additional areas of concern. Several families noted weak or uneven family communication and the absence of formal family-governance mechanisms such as a family council. There are mentions of hiring and background-screening weaknesses and isolated serious conduct concerns; these items suggest prospective families should ask about staff recruitment, background checks, and how the community investigates and responds to conduct issues. Management tone and accountability are described inconsistently across reviews, with both praise for empathetic leadership and critiques of impersonal or unresponsive administrative interactions.

Taken together, the pattern suggests Sundara may provide a high-quality, family-oriented memory-care environment when its staffing, training, and operational controls are consistent — but families should perform due diligence. Recommended pre-admission questions include specific protocols for medication administration and error reporting, staff-to-resident ratios and dementia training standards, housekeeping schedules, meal and hydration policies, activity calendars and cognitive-engagement plans, clinical coordination procedures (including emergency responses), and details on hiring and background-screening processes. Visiting in person and requesting documentation or references on the areas above will help determine whether the home's strengths align with a given resident's clinical and social needs.

    About Sundara Senior Living

Sundara Senior Living is a specialized memory care community in Round Rock, Texas, designed with the intentional purpose of providing a more intimate and supportive environment for individuals living with dementia and related memory conditions. At Sundara, the focus goes beyond simply offering a place to stay; its mission is to provide personalized care that honors each resident's unique history, preferences, and daily routines. The environment at Sundara is carefully crafted to ensure familiarity, stability, and a sense of security, all of which are considered essential for reducing anxiety and agitation among residents. The philosophy at Sundara centers around maintaining the dignity and individuality of residents, whether it is through knowing how each person likes their hair styled, their usual morning routine, or how they prefer their meals.

The community is made up of homes each limited to just sixteen residents, which allows for a strong sense of familiarity between staff and those they care for. This small scale model offers an atmosphere more akin to a large home than an institutional facility, supporting natural and consistent interactions. Research in dementia care underscores the importance of such smaller environments, as they minimize sensory overstimulation, reduce confusion from large or impersonal settings, and foster greater emotional well-being for residents. By encouraging frequent and meaningful engagement, Sundara prioritizes not only safety and physical health but also the overall quality of life for each individual.

Sundara Senior Living’s location is notably convenient, situated only minutes away from four leading hospitals and less than half an hour from downtown Austin. This accessibility makes it simple for families from nearby communities like Georgetown, Pflugerville, Cedar Park, and Hutto to maintain visits and remain involved in their loved one’s care. The staff at Sundara is highly trained in memory care and attentive to the ongoing needs of all residents. For individuals who may have unique medical or dietary requirements, such as diabetes, Sundara is committed to providing the necessary training and resources to ensure these needs are met in a safe and compassionate manner.

Daily life at Sundara is enriched by made-to-order meals and a variety of activities tailored to engage residents and promote well-being. The kitchen staff prepares individualized meals, reflecting the organization’s belief that comfort and familiarity should extend to every aspect of living, including dining. Residents have the opportunity to participate in activities that support engagement, connection, and a sense of purpose. The emphasis is on creating an environment where time spent with family and friends is truly meaningful, so families can focus on enjoying their relationships rather than worrying about care needs.

Support is also extended to families and caregivers, with guidance and emotional support to help navigate the challenges of dementia care. Resources such as a welcome packet and regular informational emails are available for those who may not yet need memory care but are seeking advice and guidance. At Sundara Senior Living, the goal is to make every resident feel safe, valued, and truly at home, while providing their families with peace of mind and the ability to cherish quality moments together.
