    Warm, family-like memory care home

I've lived here since 2018 and I'm very pleased. The memory-care home feels warm and family-like - clean, cheery, well-decorated with a lovely courtyard and 24-hour attentive staff who learn residents' histories and preserve dignity. Meals from the in-house chef are excellent and individualized, and activities (music, art, bingo, animal visits, exercise) keep things lively. Management and caregivers (Renee, Shelisa, Elizabeth and others) are compassionate, professional, and collaborative with family - I trust them and recommend this welcoming place.

    Summary of reviews

Carol Ann's Home is described predominantly as a small, recently built memory-care household with a home-like, well-furnished environment and strong emphasis on personalized, social care. Many accounts highlight a clean facility, private rooms, an open-plan layout that facilitates staff visibility, and accessible outdoor space. The facility's memory-care focus and small census are repeatedly noted as contributors to a more intimate setting and opportunities for individualized attention.

Staff and direct care are frequently praised for compassion, dignity-preserving approaches, and learning residents' personal histories and preferences. Several reviews emphasize timely medication administration and collaborative family communication in many cases, as well as demonstrated teamwork during difficult situations. At the same time, recurring operational patterns raise concerns: some families describe inconsistent staffing levels that limit direct-care time, variability in staff training and supervision, and specific gaps in medication administration and monitoring. There are also mentions of safety concerns tied to behavioral management; one review references allegations of resident-to-resident sexual incidents and questions about managerial responsiveness in those situations. These accounts suggest prospective families should ask about staffing ratios, staff training, incident-response protocols, and how behavioral risks are managed.

Dining and nutrition are generally strong features. The facility employs an in-house professional chef, and reviewers appreciate well-prepared meals and the ability to accommodate individual preferences. A minority of comments indicate variable meal satisfaction, so examining a current menu and sampling a meal when possible is advisable. Activities programming is another consistent strength: a broad mix of social, creative, musical, and exercise offerings (including adaptations during infection-control periods), entertainers, pet visits, and facilitated social events are commonly mentioned and appear central to resident life.

Facility amenities receive positive remarks for cleanliness, modern finishes, and a comfortable, cheerful décor. Reviewers cite private rooms, modest furnishings with necessary equipment (hospital beds when needed), and communal areas that encourage engagement. Maintenance and climate-control were praised by many but a few reviews noted intermittent maintenance or environmental-control issues; those are operational items to confirm during a tour.

Overall, Carol Ann's Home presents as a well-appointed, person-centered memory-care option with strengths in dining, activities, and an intimate caregiving atmosphere. However, consistent due diligence is warranted: prospective residents and families should probe staffing levels and turnover, medication-management procedures, staff training and supervision, safety protocols for residents with behavioral needs, and the facility's communication and incident-notification practices. Visiting during mealtimes and activity periods, requesting staffing ratios, and asking for recent inspection or incident logs will help clarify whether the facility's positive attributes are consistently sustained for a particular resident's needs.

    About Carol Ann's Home

Carol Ann's Home sits in a single-story building that feels warm and inviting, with private rooms and old features you don't see everywhere, and folks often say the place looks and feels like a real home because it used to be family houses-one's even on a golf course and another sits in the woods, so you get views of wildlife out on the covered patio where residents can walk the path and visit with each other or just take in the outdoors. The small size keeps things personal, with only 16 residents at max in each house and a staff-to-resident ratio of at least 1 to 8, so people get plenty of attention, and the care's always there, day and night, whether someone needs memory care, assisted living, or even simple independent support, with a team that's trained to work with folks with dementia, Alzheimer's, or memory loss, and everything works off what they call a Person-Centered approach, which means staff and families make plans together to suit each person's needs.

Bathrooms are thoughtfully included in care plans, and accommodations range from studios to single and two-bedroom spaces, all with kitchens or kitchenettes, plus cable and phone, and comfortable amenities like WiFi, guest parking, and a game and activities room. There's plenty to do, too, since there are organized activities, entertainment, exercise in the fitness area, a salon and barbershop, and even weekly holiday events and family gatherings, which keeps everyone socially connected. Meals are all home-cooked and the kitchen never closes, so snacks are always available and residents can actually see and smell meals getting made in the open kitchen, and meals can be eaten together in the big dining areas or brought to private rooms if needed. Laundry, housekeeping, and maintenance are all part of regular service, and transportation's available for appointments or outings, so residents don't have to worry about the little things.

Safety's a high priority at Carol Ann's Home with handicap accessibility, a sprinkler system, a secure unit for those who need it, a working emergency call system, and staff ready round-the-clock-plus open visiting hours so families can come by any time they want. This place keeps things comfortable rather than clinical, since the buildings are big, well-decorated, and never feel institutional, and everything's kept clean. There are memory care programs that use different methods than standard homes, and assistance goes as far as bereavement and grief support for loved ones, vocational rehab, counseling, benefits help, disability screening, and even advocacy services.

Carol Ann's Home offers both assisted living and memory care, plus residential care, home care, and senior apartments, all focused on helping seniors stay independent but supported, in a home-like setting where dignity and individual needs come first. The staff's described as compassionate and experienced, always working to help residents succeed with whatever they need, and everything from medication reminders and disability equipment to extra help with daily tasks is provided, with hospice staff able to join in if required. Since opening in October 2008, Carol Ann's Home has continued as a family-owned and operated facility, with a focus on making every person's quality of life as high as possible in familiar, safe, and comfortable surroundings.
