    Loving staff spotless facility recommended

I'm very happy with this senior living home - loving, professional staff (the Sisters are wonderful) treat residents like family and provide attentive, compassionate care. The facility is spotless and odor-free, with daily Mass, lots of activities, home-cooked meals, cheery residents and helpful office communication. I feel comfortable leaving my loved one here and would recommend it, with only minor room for improvement.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviews convey a predominantly positive experience with St Francis Nursing Home, emphasizing compassionate caregiving, strong cleanliness standards, and a faith-based culture led by Sisters. Families and visitors frequently describe the facility as well-maintained, calm, and homelike, noting reliable clinical oversight and attentive daily care.

Care quality and staff: Nursing staff, CNAs, and other caregivers are consistently described as caring, hardworking, and professional. Reviewers highlight close family-style relationships between staff and residents, clear communication from a responsive physician, and strong channels of family communication. At the same time, there is evidence of variability in CNA performance; while many reviewers praise individualized attention and the absence of pressure wounds, others note differences in skill or consistency among aides. Prospective families should inquire about current staffing ratios, CNA training, and supervision practices.

Dining: Meal service receives favorable comments for home-style, tasty, and nutritious offerings, with meals and snacks regularly available. Several reviewers use terms like "homemade" to describe the food and appreciate menu variety. The dining program appears to be a strength that supports resident satisfaction.

Activities and social life: The facility offers a range of activities, including daily Mass and other enrichment programs that foster mental stimulation and social connection. Reviewers describe friendships among residents, volunteer involvement (including local students), and use of an activity room for TV and movies. A few comments suggest that entertainment frequency can be variable, so families may want to confirm the current activity calendar and how programming is scheduled.

Facilities and location: St Francis is frequently described as spotless, odor-free, and well cared-for. The setting is characterized as quiet with a tranquil courtyard and a convenient central location. The attached assisted-living option provides a continuity-of-care advantage for residents who may transition levels of support.

Management and access: Office staff receive praise for helpfulness with benefits paperwork and administrative matters. There are, however, indications of limited Medicaid acceptance and active waiting lists, creating potential admission constraints for some families. Reviewers also express a small number of isolated concerns about care responsiveness and oversight; these are not presented as systemic but suggest that families should ask about incident-response protocols, medication management, and complaint-resolution processes during a tour.

Notable patterns and recommendations: The dominant themes are strong cleanliness, a faith-centered environment, engaged and compassionate staff, and satisfying food and activities. Areas to clarify during an in-person visit include current CNA staffing and consistency, the facility's Medicaid and payment policies, the activity schedule, and procedures for addressing any care lapses. Overall, the facility appears to offer a supportive, well-maintained environment with pockets of variability typical of long-term care settings.

    About St Francis Nursing Home

St Francis Nursing Home sits in San Antonio and has been around since 1970, run by the Seraphic Sisters who follow the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi and take great care to support the sick, poor, and elderly through kindness, dignity, and respect, so you'll find the sisters and staff very attentive, caring, and often cheerful, making it feel like a homely place, and people mention how clean it always smells and how much residents like the food, which they say tastes home-cooked and is created with a dietary consultant, and you'll see that this nonprofit stays rooted in Catholic values, with daily Mass, spiritual services, and a chapel for quiet reflection, so everyone has a chance to find comfort and peace, and since it's right next to the Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine and Retreat Center, residents can enjoy the serene grounds for walks and meditation. People who live at St Francis Nursing Home get personalized care plans that fit their health needs, and 24-hour nursing is always on hand, so whether someone needs skilled nursing, personal care, memory care for dementia, or help with daily living tasks like bathing and dressing, the staff supports them at their own pace, and they don't have to worry about getting medication, wound care, therapy, or even things like podiatry and optician appointments, since those services all come right to the community. The building stands three stories tall with a safe environment, including handrails, a sprinkler system, and easy-to-use laundry, and rooms can be shared or private, bringing a sense of comfort and security, while housekeeping and laundry are taken care of regularly, and there's cable and Wi-Fi for residents to stay connected. People like to spend time in the dining room with others, join in daily activities, do arts and crafts, take part in education or wellness programs, and visit the on-site salon or fitness center, and pets often stop by to brighten spirits; even those who need more rest can enjoy social and counseling support. St Francis Nursing Home takes Medicaid and private pay, and the sisters work actively with both residents and their families to create an inviting place where everyone feels like they belong, with the mission always focused on compassionate, holistic care and the dignity of each person, and folks often say it's a hidden treasure, full of warmth, laughter, and good meals.
