    Elegant facility attentive staff safe

I stayed at Chesterfield Heights and was very pleased. Beautiful, elegant, well-run facility with lovely grounds and apartments (balconies and great views). The staff and managers (Linda and Malcolm) were warm, attentive and family-like; meals-even holiday feasts and desserts-were outstanding, activities and dependable transportation kept residents engaged, and maintenance/housekeeping were prompt. I felt safe, cared for, and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Chesterfield Heights presents as an independent-living community that many families find warm, well-run, and oriented toward resident comfort. Reviewers consistently highlight a caring staff and hands-on on-site management presence; maintenance responsiveness, personalized family communication, and a generally clean, recently renovated interior are frequently noted. The community aesthetic is described as upscale and hotel-like, with well-maintained landscaping, attractive common areas, and multiple apartment floor plans that include balconies or patios.

Care quality is characterized by attentive, resident-focused staff and engaged management who are often praised for being available and proactive. Residents and families describe a family-like atmosphere with staff who provide emotional support and practical assistance. The community offers continuity options such as end-of-life support and allows third-party caregivers, but as an independent-living community it does not provide assisted living or on-site skilled nursing; this limits suitability for people who need higher levels of clinical care or memory-care services.

Dining and food service are strong selling points for many: three meals daily with varied choices, special-event and holiday dining, accommodating chefs, and servers familiar with residents’ preferences. At the same time, review patterns point to occasional variability in meal consistency and service continuity, and some families express concern about the cumulative cost of included or optional meal plans relative to limited budgets.

Activities and social life are prominent features. The facility offers a full activity calendar—crafts, games, outings, faith-based services, and themed events—with an active activities director and reliable transportation for shopping and medical appointments. These offerings support a robust social scene and many comments about residents thriving socially. Some practical drawbacks noted include distance from certain apartments to the dining hall and occasional requests for a broader variety of activities.

Operationally, the facility has strengths and some notable weaknesses. Strengths include an on-site management team that often lives on the premises, dependable maintenance, housekeeping and linen services, and visible attention to sanitation and décor. Weaknesses inferred from reviews include pest-control concerns in some units, inconsistent communication and follow-up with families in specific situations, staff turnover that can affect continuity, and occasional lapses in infection-control communication during outbreaks. Capacity constraints and a waiting list are recurring logistical themes, and practical matters such as limited in-unit laundry, parking tightness, and an open dining area that can be noisy are cited as everyday limitations.

Overall, Chesterfield Heights appears well-suited for independent, mobile older adults who value active programming, dependable transportation, polished facilities, and attentive frontline staff. Prospective residents and families should weigh the facility’s limited clinical-care scope and the operational considerations noted above—particularly pest-control responsiveness, communication practices, and meal-cost implications—when assessing fit and long-term needs.

About Chesterfield Heights Gracious Retirement Living

Chesterfield Heights Gracious Retirement Living offers independent living for seniors, with a choice of over 50 different floor plans, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments that range from 365 to 1,056 square feet, so there's a lot of options for people who want extra space or just a quiet place of their own, and all apartments have kitchenettes, emergency pull cords that reach the management team at any hour, and bathrooms designed for comfort and safety, which really helps put residents and their families at ease about support being nearby. Life around here stays lively because of regular things like a full calendar of activities, clubs, games, and even classes like creative writing or art, while residents can also visit indoor and outdoor gathering spaces like lounges and courtyards with friends and visitors, plus there's a fitness center for those who like to stay active and studios for art projects or relaxing hobbies. The Hawthorn Resident Travel Program stands out for people who like to get out and see new places, since it allows residents to visit other independent living communities across 70 locations in the U.S., including guest suites and meals for up to seven nights at a time, and that's all part of the program, so folks like being able to travel knowing things will be familiar and easy wherever they go. Monthly rent starts at $3,315 and covers a lot - three chef-prepared meals each day served in a dining room made for socializing, weekly housekeeping and linen service, electricity, gas, water, sewer, basic cable, maintenance of both apartments and shared spaces, and even local transportation for doctor's appointments, errands, and group outings, all scheduled through a concierge, and the caring live-in managers are available 24/7, which means someone's always around if a resident needs anything, no matter what time of day. Safety features here matter, since each apartment provides Lively Mobile2 medical alert devices from Best Buy Health™, connecting residents with a support team in an emergency, so everyone can feel secure while enjoying a fair amount of independence. Chesterfield Heights offers assisted living services for help with daily things like bathing, getting dressed, or taking medicine, and has a memory care environment for people living with dementia, with spaces and staff to reduce confusion and prevent wandering, keeping everyone safe and cared for. The community schedules religious services on and off site, offers transportation for appointments and outings, and lets residents keep pets, while meals focus on nutrition and taste, and there's always a chance to join clubs or events to help keep away loneliness and give each day a bit of spark. The atmosphere feels inviting, with neighborly support from both friendly staff and fellow residents, and the senior living community has been recognized with a Best of Senior Living All Star award for a strong track record of satisfied residents and families in 2024.
