    Compassionate care with safe visits

I'm very pleased with this beautiful facility - outstanding, compassionate caregivers and attentive nurses who gave excellent wound care and warm interactions. The big patio made safe masked visits possible; we enjoyed a wonderful birthday lunch and a special dessert of chocolate-covered strawberries that felt like dining at a fancy restaurant. It was so nice to see mommy after isolation; I would definitely recommend them.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews portray New Options Renton AFH as a facility with a strong emphasis on hands-on caregiving and clinical attentiveness. Reviewers highlight compassionate, warm interactions between staff and residents and specifically note attentive nursing and effective wound/medical care. Overall descriptions emphasize a high level of personal attention and a caregiving culture that families find reassuring.

Dining and activities are presented as strengths. Meals and desserts are described in elevated terms — including special desserts and event-style fare — and celebratory gatherings such as birthday parties are noted as well-executed. These elements contribute to an atmosphere that families compared to restaurant-style dining and meaningful social programming rather than basic institutional food service.

Facilities and visitation practices are also addressed positively. The property offers an outdoor patio that supports family visits, and staff appear to implement infection-control measures such as masking and distancing when appropriate. Reviewers who experienced a period of isolation reported being able to reconnect afterward, which suggests the facility manages transitions between restricted and normal visitation.

Management and operational patterns implied by the summaries point to an engaged, resident-focused staff and organized event planning. The prevailing tone suggests management supports staff in creating a welcoming environment. One operational caveat in these summaries is the presence of visitation limits tied to infection-control periods; prospective families should clarify current visitation policies, including how and when outdoor visits and masking rules are applied. As with any placement decision, families may wish to confirm care-plan communication practices, staff continuity, and the facility’s protocols for clinical issues to ensure they match individual needs.

    About New Options Renton AFH

New Options Renton AFH sits in a quiet residential neighborhood in Renton, Washington, just a short four-minute drive from Valley Medical Hospital and close to I-167 and 405, so people who live there have easy access to doctor visits and family can get there without trouble, plus it's even within walking distance to the Kent Senior Center, making it handy for those who like to go out for community events once in a while, and the adult family home feels small and intimate, with space for no more than six residents, so folks get to know their caregivers and neighbors quite well, and care is always personalized for whatever a person needs, whether that's a little help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and eating, or more involved care for people dealing with dementia, Alzheimer's, diabetes, arthritis, incontinence, neurological problems, or even care after a stroke or with Parkinson's, since their staff can help with medications, physical therapy, and memory care, plus they have 24-hour staff certified in first aid and CPR, and they make sure someone is always there for residents, day or night. Meal options suit many diets-there's vegetarian, vegan, kosher, gluten-free, diabetic, low sodium, and even no-sugar offerings, usually served restaurant style, but if a person wants to eat in their room, that's possible too, and meals use nutritious, even organic ingredients whenever they can, with special attention for anybody who needs feeding assistance or is on a special diet for heart health or diabetes.

Residents have private rooms with their own bathrooms and roll-in showers, and the amenities stand out because there's Wi-Fi and cable or satellite TV in the rooms, air conditioning, and everything is set up to be wheelchair accessible for folks who need those features, plus the shared spaces include a dining room, small library, indoor and outdoor areas like a garden, patio, and safe walking paths, so people can spend time both inside and out when the weather's nice, and the community even puts on regular activities, crafts, and exercise groups, with a full calendar to keep people busy if they want, along with social events, educational classes, and even devotional services on site, plus a beauty salon for hair, nails, and podiatry visits. Housekeeping, laundry, and linen services are included, and the home takes care of medical needs with non-ambulatory care, two-person transfer help, incontinence management, medication handling, and specialized help for bariatric care, catheter care, feeding tubes, and more-there's even high acuity and memory care, and the staff coordinate with doctors and health providers for regular checkups, preventative screenings, mental wellness programs, and rehabilitation.

Transport is provided for medical and non-medical appointments, and the home covers pharmacy delivery too, so residents don't need to worry about getting their medications on time, and respite care is available for families who need short-term help, while long-term care is arranged with expert guidance for families, plus support for family members and education resources to help manage care for a loved one at home or in the facility. The home has a license from DSHS as a residential care home, and the place is managed by Cristina Glavnenko, CNAC, and there's an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, which means they meet high standards for service and care. Visiting hours run from 9:00am to 8:00pm, and the home welcomes seniors from Renton and King County who need anything from light daily help to skilled nursing, including those coping with memory loss, developmental disabilities, mental health needs, or behavior issues, because the goal is always to provide a safe, comfortable, and homelike place where each person gets the care they need, and life feels as much like home as possible.
