    Excellent care and comfortable living

I placed my friend here and I'm very pleased - Adrienne and her team are caring, helpful, and always on the ball. The facility is excellent with private, nice rooms, good food, and my friend has noticeably improved; it's a great place to live.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews describe a facility with a mixed record: several families praised the caregiving staff and the administrative team for being attentive, helpful, and capable of producing positive resident outcomes, and they noted good meals and private, comfortable rooms. Those positive experiences suggest that when staffing and leadership are stable, day-to-day resident care and basic hospitality can meet expectations.

At the same time, a number of operational patterns raise safety and quality concerns. Staffing levels and turnover are repeatedly cited as a persistent problem; reviewers describe delays in routine tasks, gaps in housekeeping and supply replenishment, and at times minimal staff presence. Communication difficulties stemming from limited English proficiency among some staff members are noted and are linked to misunderstandings and care coordination challenges. Additionally, several items point to gaps in training and compliance: examples include incorrect emergency-response actions and inconsistent hand-hygiene practices, which collectively indicate opportunities to strengthen clinical competency and infection-control adherence.

Facility infrastructure and maintenance problems are prominent. Reviewers cite deferred repairs, missing fixtures, wet floors, and unresolved building issues; entertainment systems (television/AV) are described as unreliable with problems left on a to-do list for months. These maintenance and amenity lapses affect resident quality of life and suggest weaknesses in the facility’s repair and vendor-management processes. Cleanliness and odor concerns in some common areas and living spaces are also mentioned and should be addressed through consistent housekeeping protocols and environmental monitoring.

Contextual concerns extend beyond internal operations. Some reviewers raised safety worries related to the neighborhood, including a nearby gunfire incident, which family members felt affected the sense of security. There are also serious governance-related claims, including allegations of retaliatory behavior toward regulatory oversight; such allegations warrant careful review by families and regulators. Conversely, individual staff members and small teams (named by some families) received positive mention for responsiveness and resident-centered care, indicating that strengths exist at the unit or team level despite broader systemic issues.

For prospective residents and families: weigh the positive reports of compassionate, helpful staff and reasonable accommodations against recurring operational weaknesses — notably staffing stability, training and safety practices, maintenance responsiveness, and neighborhood safety. If considering this facility, ask for recent staffing ratios, turnover statistics, documented training and competency records (including emergency-response and infection-control training), a current maintenance log with timelines for outstanding repairs, and clarity about security measures and regulatory findings or responses to any allegations. Visiting the facility multiple times, speaking directly with the care team, and checking recent inspection reports will help clarify whether the facility’s strengths are consistent and whether the identified concerns are being actively remedied.

    About Olympic View Assisted Living

Olympic View Assisted Living sits at 21202 International Boulevard in Seatac, Washington, though sometimes it's listed as being in Des Moines. The facility has 60 beds and mainly offers studio apartments for residents wanting privacy and personal space, and some studios may come with a small kitchenette. The community focuses on assisted living and memory care, trying to help seniors keep their independence while having support with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and medication. It also provides diabetic care, help for non-ambulatory residents, and incontinence care, and residents with higher needs can access hospice care if needed. Pets like dogs and cats are allowed, and common areas give residents a place to socialize, join activities, or feel part of a supportive community.

There's transportation and parking for residents, with complimentary rides for errands or appointments. The community offers meals, wellness services, recreation spaces, and personal assistance. Staff sometimes struggle with high turnover, and there have been cases where English hasn't been strong among employees, especially for medical discussions, which can cause frustration for both staff and residents. Even though the facility has safety and security features in place, the surrounding area can experience crime and police activity, so some people may want to take that into account.

Olympic View Assisted Living has flexible care that gets tailored to what each person needs, with prices starting at a base level but changing depending on the level of care required. Potential residents can request tours, see a gallery of photos, and get a quote specific to their situation. The community is pet-friendly and tries to have services, spaces, and support aimed at helping seniors enjoy daily life while feeling secure and cared for as part of a larger group. Olympic View Assisted Living currently has vacancies and offers both assisted living and memory care to people looking for either a more independent retirement or specialized support.
