    Renovated rooms and caring staff

I've lived here three years and have seen positive changes under new management - bright updated rooms with balconies, new furniture, and a remodel planned. The staff (Alex, Janet, Heather, Jennifer, Hailey) are hardworking, compassionate, and communicative; they go above and beyond with daily activities (bingo, crafts, outings, even a boat cruise), great meals, and thoughtful family updates. It's clean, welcoming, conveniently close to medical care, and feels like family - residents are engaged and well cared for. I'm happy here and would recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Cherrywood Care is described overall as a staff-driven community with many families and residents praising the compassion and attentiveness of its direct-care team. Reviewers highlight frequent, proactive communication from leadership and nursing staff, examples of strong end-of-life and hospice support, and several named staff members who are singled out for responsiveness. The facility is characterized by a family-like culture, with residents forming friendships and staff participating in personalized caregiving, including support for residents with vision impairment or other functional limitations.

Programming and dining are consistent strengths. Residents and families report an active calendar of daily activities — crafts, bingo, outings, seasonal events, and special outings such as local cruises — that foster engagement and social connection. The dining program is often described as flavorful with seasonal menus, birthday recognitions, and catered events; however, reviewers also recorded occasional concerns about meal temperature and continuity of service, suggesting variability in food-service execution.

Physical accommodations receive positive comments for recent updates: many rooms are bright, have balconies, and have been refurnished, with residents allowed to personalize spaces. Common areas and public spaces are frequently described as clean and well organized, and the property benefits from a convenient location near medical services. At the same time, reviewers identify several facility-level operational shortcomings: limited dedicated exercise or fitness space, intermittent hot-water or bathing-service availability, and instances of pest-control and sanitation concerns. Maintenance responsiveness receives mixed notes — for example, timely snow removal is praised, while infrastructure issues have been raised elsewhere.

Management and operational stability are mixed themes. While some families commend proactive leaders and improved communication, others cite staffing instability and managerial variability during transitions. These patterns suggest that the resident experience can depend on current staffing levels and management focus. Prospective residents and families considering Cherrywood Care would benefit from visiting in person, asking for current staffing ratios and turnover data, inquiring about pest-control and bathing-service protocols, and reviewing meal-service routines and available fitness amenities. Overall, the facility shows strengths in compassionate caregiving, resident engagement, and updated living spaces, balanced against operational areas that merit direct inquiry before placement.

    About Cherrywood Care

Cherrywood Care sits at 100 E Dalke Ave in Spokane, Washington, in a three-story building that holds up to 52 licensed beds and offers care for seniors needing assisted living, independent living, skilled nursing, respite stays, palliative, or hospice care, all under the management of Caldera Care and the guidance of Administrator Alejandra Perdomo-Tapia, and with a team of caring professionals who spend their days helping with everything from bathing and dressing to medication reminders and walking or wheelchair support. Residents get to pick from studio, single room, or two-bedroom apartments, with each one often having things like a private bathroom, kitchenette, and even a balcony, and pricing runs between $2,000 to $6,500 a month depending on what kind of space and care someone needs, and Medicaid is accepted alongside long-term care insurance and private pay, which helps families who want different payment options. Cherrywood Place Retirement, as the assisted living part is called, gives people a safe, clean spot with features like wheelchair ramps, handicapped access, and a sprinkler system, plus amenities like a dining hall, a fitness center, game and activity rooms, free guest parking, cable TV, WiFi, and a salon or barber shop along with weekly housekeeping and help from a maintenance team. The community also has kitchens or kitchenettes in some rooms for those who want them, and there's a steady focus on health with onsite nurses, wound care, podiatry, medication support, and regular visits from therapists who help with physical, occupational, or speech needs, so people can keep getting stronger or manage their conditions while staying in familiar surroundings. For extra support, the staff offers behavioral health management and designs individual care plans, so seniors with more complex health needs-including those with dementia or those needing palliative or hospice care-receive careful, respectful attention, and families get help understanding care options as things change. To keep everyone engaged, there are arts and crafts, group education, fitness activities, social gatherings, neighborhood walks, and even pet therapy programs, so nobody feels left out and everyone has a chance to take part. Meals are provided in a shared dining room, and there's always a focus on helping people keep their independence where possible-so for some, that might mean personal care assistance for bathing and grooming, and for others, it might mean mostly enjoying the vibrant community life and activities that keep them happy and connected. Cherrywood Care is licensed as an assisted living facility and is recognized locally for providing a safe, kind place where residents are treated with dignity, their comfort is prioritized, and the care team is available 24 hours a day to meet changing health needs or mobility challenges. The community encourages a homelike feeling, helping each resident feel cared for, while offering a full range of services and amenities one might expect in a senior living facility.
