    Immaculate community with attentive staff

I toured and was impressed by the friendly, attentive staff and solid continuum of care. The community is immaculate with beautiful gardens, a lovely central courtyard, what they say is the nicest pool in the city, comfortable condos, and lots of engaging activities supported by a helpful daily activity board and religious services. Meals are varied and the kitchen is wonderful - I would recommend this convenient non-profit community.

    Summary of reviews

Riverview Terrace presents as a well-maintained, amenity-rich community with a clear continuum of care spanning independent living through skilled nursing. Reviewers consistently highlight attractive grounds, a central courtyard and a highly praised pool, and many describe common spaces as clean and immaculate. The community's location and visible activity programming are clear strengths for people seeking an active lifestyle with easy local access.

Staff and clinical care receive generally positive comments: many reviewers describe staff as friendly, attentive and caring, and some specifically praise skilled nursing services. That said, there is variability in staff communication and professionalism; a number of reviewers noted lapses in tone or responsiveness, and families should clarify communication protocols and staffing continuity during tours. Several comments indicate the community has limited capacity or accommodations for residents with significant dementia-related needs, so prospective residents requiring memory care should confirm clinical capability before committing.

Dining impressions are mixed. Some reviewers compliment the on-site kitchen and the variety of meals, while others describe inconsistent meal quality, particularly in clinical or skilled nursing settings. Prospective residents may want to sample a meal and ask about menu rotation, special-diet handling, and meal-service consistency during an evaluation.

Activities and social life are frequently cited as positive: the program includes games (casino-style events referenced), a daily activity storyboard, religious services, and a visible pattern of resident engagement. This community appears well suited to people who want structured programming and frequent social opportunities.

Living units elicit contrasting feedback. While condos and some units are described as comfortable, multiple reviewers noted that many rooms and bathrooms are small and that studio options are limited. Some visitors perceived parts of the campus as having a clinical or hospital-like ambience, which may affect the feel for people seeking a more residential atmosphere.

On management and cost: the facility operates as a non-profit with no buy-in option, and several reviewers described pricing as above average. There are also periodic comments about gaps in communication or coordination from management, so families should review contract terms, fee structures, and the community's communication policies closely.

Overall, Riverview Terrace appears to be a strong option for active older adults who prioritize amenities, a robust activity program, and a full continuum of care. Those considering the community should verify unit sizes and layout availability, assess dementia-care capabilities if relevant, sample dining, and ask specific questions about staffing, communication procedures, and financial terms to ensure the community's operational characteristics align with their needs.

    About Riverview Terrace

Riverview Terrace, located in Spokane, WA, is a Life Plan Community with independent living, assisted living, and memory care all on a 34-acre campus that includes Riverview Village and the Riverview Lutheran Care Center, and what folks seem to notice right off is the big mix of living options, because you see everything from village homes with garages, to studio apartments, to larger deluxe two-bedroom places, most of them either in the independent living neighborhood or over in the terrace apartments, and you don't even have to move later if you go from independent to assisted living since you can stay in the same room, which is handy and not common around here. Residents get pretty involved in campus life, lots of music and performances happen in the chapel under the Riverview Presents program that brings in guest artists, and there's activities like woodworking in the community woodshop that also lets residents try their hand at making things for the nonprofit foundation that helps folks in the community with extra expenses. The outdoor spaces have roses, raised-bed gardens, and some beehives-residents can donate their harvest to local causes if they want-plus there's walking paths, swimming, and a fitness center, so you see people out year-round whether they're gardening or just relaxing.

Dining fits a range of tastes with a cafeteria-style restaurant, choices like kosher or vegetarian meals, and a café called Riverbrew where they roast coffee and sell some merchandise, and most apartments come with kitchenettes if folks want to do some of their own cooking. Services include laundry, housekeeping, pet care, help with medical appointments, and things like nail care and massages, though some are extra charges. There's a 20,000-square-foot Memory Care Center-Rooms at the Veranda-built especially for residents with Alzheimer's or dementia, with security, wayfinding cues, and bright art to help people find their way, and they make sure there's activities and supervision throughout the day. Assisted living services cover most needs-help with wheelchairs, dressing, bathing, medications, diabetic care and insulin, and special diets-with a licensed nurse on staff around the clock and a doctor on call, and care gets adjusted to people's changing health so folks don't have to leave if they need more help over time.

The Lutheran Care Center handles skilled nursing and has all kinds of therapists on staff: physical, occupational, speech, and even aquatic therapy, with nurses and aides who manage wound care, oxygen, and respiratory therapy, plus they help with behavior problems and work to prevent wandering for those at risk. The campus lets residents keep small pets, landscape their yards, and be part of decision-making about community life, with a staff-to-resident ratio that meets or beats state rules. Transportation is set up for shopping, appointments, or outings, and anyone can park on-site. There's activities for every interest-a movie theater, activity room, arts, game room, and regular bible services and other devotional options both on and off campus-plus daily posted schedules for what's going on. Extra support like counseling, hospice, home care, diabetes care, and incontinence help is available, with safety features like medical alert pendants and secured buildings for memory care. Rent's month-to-month without a buy-in, and the community fee is $2,500, with extra charges for a second resident. The place tries to be transparent about care costs since they do a free assessment to figure out care levels before folks move in, and Riverview accepts private pay, veteran's benefits, and some private insurance. Overall, Riverview Terrace is set up for older adults looking to stay active, get a range of health care, or age in place, with social and practical support on hand as needs change.
