    Clean facility with caring staff

I toured Parkview Gardens and was very pleased: a beautiful, clean facility with a pleasant layout, great amenities (live entertainment, music, dog visits, yoga/tai chi, beautician/spa), three meals/day, housekeeping, medication monitoring and LifeAlert. The nursing team and staff are proactive and genuinely caring-my mom feels safe, enjoys the activities and food, and I would recommend it to families.

    Summary of reviews

Parkview Gardens is commonly described by families and visitors as a well-maintained independent-living community with strong person-centered staff and an active social program. Reviewers consistently praise the caregiving team for accessibility, proactive communication, and visible clinical leadership; the nurse manager and head nurse are often called out as supportive and reachable. Many accounts emphasize that staff go beyond basic duties to keep residents safe and informed, and that family members appreciate timely texts and calls about issues.

Dining and daily services are viewed positively. The community offers three meals per day with a varied menu, routine housekeeping, and optional medication-monitoring and pendant/ GPS life-alert services. Weekly salon and spa offerings and in-house maintenance contribute to a suite of conveniences that reviewers found helpful. Rooms are described as good-sized and adaptable (including an optional removable kitchen counter), and overall cleanliness and odor-free common areas were noted.

Activities and amenities are a clear strength: scheduled classes such as yoga and tai chi, games (bingo, game night), live music and entertainment, dog visits, and an enrichment counselor who coordinates social programming were repeatedly mentioned. The facility’s grounds, parking, and walking areas are well regarded, and its location near grocery and dining options and a medical clinic is convenient for residents and families. Expansion plans to add apartments indicate growth and additional independent-living capacity.

Areas to watch include cost, contract terms, and navigation. Several visitors described the community as relatively expensive, and the facility requires a year-long lease with specific notice requirements — factors families should review carefully for financial fit and exit flexibility. The campus includes larger building areas where wayfinding can be a challenge for some residents. A few comments also suggested that marketing materials or initial impressions can outshine certain operational details, so prospective residents are advised to verify services and contract terms during the tour. Finally, some services were slower during pandemic-related restrictions, which points to limitations in service continuity under public-health conditions. Overall, reviewers frequently recommended Parkview Gardens for its staff, programming, and facilities while advising attention to pricing, lease terms, and layout during the decision process.

    About Parkview Gardens

Parkview Gardens sits right in Racine, Wisconsin, and you'll find it has a mix of independent living, assisted living, and a secure memory care unit, so neighbors there can stay even if their needs change over time, and it's all in a setting for people aged 55 and up, with a campus close to shopping, groceries, medical clinics, and banks, which makes going out or running errands pretty simple, and it's one of only 18 spots in the Affordable Assisted Living program in Wisconsin, so it can be a good option if someone's looking for help that doesn't break the bank. Folks live in studio, one-bedroom, or two-bedroom apartments, and each unit comes with kitchen appliances, so making meals is possible, but there are also meals available for those who want them, and assisted living apartments come with private, accessible bathrooms, too, so people keep their privacy while getting help when needed, and there's plenty of room to have visitors or family over.

Staff are there 24 hours a day for emergencies and to help residents with daily needs, just like help with moving from a bed to a wheelchair, taking medication, or keeping diabetes in check, and there's always someone keeping an eye out for everyone's safety with the in-house wireless call system so anyone can get help quickly. There's regular communication with families, staff send texts or make calls, so people know how their loved one's doing, and staff work with a full-time registered nurse making care plans tailored to each person, which can change over time if someone needs more or less help, and the care team, including nurses and aides, is known for being both attentive and compassionate, even sitting with residents through tough times like loss or grief.

Memory care at Parkview Gardens is set in a secure area, made to prevent wandering and confusion, and staff there have special training for working with folks who have Alzheimer's or dementia, and there are cognitive activities and routines focused on keeping residents safe and mentally active, along with a head nurse known for truly caring about each person's health and emotions.

Apartments are built for comfort, size, and easy access, with kitchen appliances, and the facility itself has a parking lot for those who still drive and transportation for those who don't, plus you'll find both indoor and outdoor options like a garden, entertainment rooms, spaces for people to gather and talk, and activity programs including yoga, tai chi, bingo, games, and weekly beautician visits, which help people stay social and active, not to mention fitness areas and wellness programs on site. The campus supports aging in place, so people can keep living where they're used to as their needs change, and they can count on housekeeping, laundry, and linen services to make life a little easier, while volunteers and families are encouraged to take part in daily life or activities.

Devotional services, both on and off site, are available for those who need spiritual support, and there's a strong focus on respecting everyone's independence and dignity, no matter what kind of help they need, and residents can choose what works for them in terms of how involved they want to be in social life or activities, which gives a sense of personal freedom. The senior fitness program tries to keep everyone moving for better health, and there are scheduled trips and shopping services for errands or getting out. Parkview Gardens' services and care meet state guidelines, and it works with different organizations like the Wisconsin Bureau on Aging and others to support its residents. Overall, it's a place where people can stay independent but know help is close by, with a staff that tries to build a community where everyone feels welcome, safe, and respected.
