    Caring staff excellent home-like dining

I'm very pleased with this community - caring, professional staff who go above and beyond, a home-like, safe atmosphere, and beautifully renovated, clean apartments with full kitchens (some with washer/dryer). The on-site chef and restaurant-style dining are excellent, meals included, and amenities like laundry, twice-weekly cleaning, strong activities, attractive grounds, and modern common areas make daily life easy. Pleasant tour experience and a great manager and nursing team - I'd highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Elizabeth Gardens presents as a small, apartment-style senior community with a number of clear strengths and several operational caveats to evaluate. Strengths include a visible on-site management and nursing presence, a strong hospitality focus (restaurant-style dining prepared by an on-site chef, meals included in the fee, and all-day coffee), and apartment layouts that emphasize space, natural light, and kitchen amenities. Housekeeping and laundry services are offered on a regular schedule, and common areas and grounds are described as attractive and recently renovated. The community's size and staff approach contribute to a neighborhood, home-like atmosphere that several families and residents have praised.

Care and staff performance are consistently noted as positive. Reviewers emphasized professional, attentive, and engaged staff who are willing to go beyond expectations, and the facility's staffing model includes dedicated management and nursing oversight. That said, reviewers also signaled limits to the facility's caregiving capacity; there is an operational constraint around providing one-on-one or higher-dependency skilled care, which could make this community less suitable for residents requiring more intensive clinical support. Prospective residents should confirm staffing ratios and the scope of care services during intake discussions.

Dining and activities are highlights. The on-site chef, restaurant-style dining room, and inclusive meal program contribute to high marks for food and mealtime experience. The activities program is described as robust and engaging, supporting social interaction and resident satisfaction. Apartment features vary, with many units offering full kitchens and optional in-unit appliances such as washer/dryers; some units have newer finishes (carpeting, windows) and others remain older in condition. Reviewers praised the overall cleanliness and modern common spaces in renovated areas.

Operational and facility issues surfaced repeatedly enough to merit attention. The community appears to be undergoing ongoing renovations and maintenance work, which has produced intermittent disruptions (construction activity, nonfunctional elevator, and building repairs). Unit conditions are inconsistent across the inventory; some apartments are newly renovated while others show older fixtures and HVAC units. There are also indications of limited inventory flexibility—efficiency units were not available—and price points were described as higher than average with additional fees (for example, a nominal room-service charge). Visible resident occupancy during tours was low in some instances, and several reviewers experienced disorganized tour or move-in coordination, suggesting variability in front-desk or admissions processes.

In summary, Elizabeth Gardens is best characterized as a hospitality-oriented, small-scale community with strong dining, engaging activities, and a staff team that many families find caring and professional. It may be less appropriate for individuals who need higher levels of clinical care or who require immediate, move-in-ready units without renovation-related disruption. Recommended next steps for prospective residents and families are to: verify current unit availability and condition, obtain detailed staffing ratios and scope-of-care limits, request a timeline for remaining renovation work, and get a full breakdown of additional fees and policies before committing.

    About Elizabeth Gardens

Elizabeth Gardens, located in Racine, is part of the Elizabeth Residence group and offers both assisted living and independent living options for adults age 55 and older. The community sits on 5.5 acres and features 30 assisted living apartments, with studio, one-bedroom, semi-private, and two-bedroom floor plans that have plush carpeting, ample windows, and either wheelchair-accessible showers or full tubs for safety and ease, and residents can also bring their own furniture if they prefer. The facility uses a call light pendant response system and provides emergency alert systems and 24/7 awake staff, with assistance for bathing, dressing, medication management, transfers, and other activities of daily living, plus extra help for residents who need non-ambulatory care or have incontinence needs as long as they can manage it themselves. The team includes a Registered Nurse, visiting nurses, an Activity Coordinator, trained care staff, and visiting podiatrists, so the healthcare side extends to medication management, diabetic care with insulin injections and sliding scale therapy, and supervision for residents around the clock. There's weekly housekeeping, laundry (including linens and towels), meal preparation that covers three home-cooked meals per day-offering allergy-sensitive and diabetes-friendly options too-and furnished rooms with telephone and basic cable service.

Residents have access to lots of common areas like a living room, game room, library, media center, arts room, and a screened-in porch, with indoor spaces to gather and outdoor garden paths to enjoy the fresh air or walk the grounds, plus surface parking for residents and transportation available at a cost. People can bring their pets along because Elizabeth Gardens welcomes furry companions. There's a Hair and Nail Salon and a barber right on site, and the community organizes weekly outings, exercise classes, bingo nights, music entertainment, movie nights, and both community-sponsored and resident-run activities that help keep things active and social. Apartments are available month-to-month, and the property is convenient to busline transportation if anyone wants to get out and about. Elizabeth Gardens has both assisted living and memory care options with services tailored to residents' individual needs, including care for those in nearby areas like New Berlin, Oak Creek, Franklin North, and Franklin South. The community offers nutritious meals planned by chefs, keeps a thoughtful eye on comfort and safety, and provides elegant yet simple living spaces with a welcoming feeling as soon as you walk through the door. Staff members aim to keep everyone comfortable and safe, with supervision and support for those who need it and opportunities for relaxation and socialization for everyone. Fees cover a range of care needs, with added costs depending on the level of personal assistance and for second persons in an apartment, and respite care's also available. The atmosphere across Elizabeth Gardens stays friendly and down-to-earth, with a reputation for strong service and spaces where people can enjoy both privacy and neighbors close by.
