    Welcoming attentive staff and community

I moved in and have been very pleased. The staff are welcoming, attentive, and quick to answer-Dana, Lisa and director Amy stand out-and chef Ty is amazing. My spacious apartment has a full kitchen and laundry, there's a lovely promenade deck, frequent activities and a social club that have boosted my mental engagement, and dementia and assisted living residents receive attentive care. It feels like a safe, family-like community with helpful maintenance and convenient shopping buses.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment: The reviews portray Forest Park Village as a warm, well-maintained senior living community with consistently high marks for staff, care quality (including memory care), and living accommodations. Most reviewers emphasize a welcoming, family-like atmosphere and repeatedly call out individual staff members and managers by name for providing compassionate, personalized attention. Praise is strong across multiple levels of care, with several reviewers explicitly stating that dementia/Alzheimer's residents receive very good care and that care is provided "at every level."

Care quality and staff: Staff performance is the dominant positive theme. Reviews describe the staff as excellent, positive, loving, and accommodating. Specific staff and leaders are mentioned (Dana, Lisa, director Amy), indicating that residents and families feel known and personally attended to. Reviewers report quick, informative answers from staff, accommodation of individual schedules and disabilities, and heartfelt thanks for hands-on care (for example, care for a spouse). The overall tone suggests a high degree of empathy, consistent personal attention, and staff engagement with residents' needs.

Facilities and apartments: The campus includes three buildings and a remodeled hospital area, which contributes to a perception of updated, attractive facilities. Apartments are frequently described as large and spacious, many with full kitchens and laundry, and at least one review references a promenade deck. These physical features are presented as major positives — both for comfort and for feelings of independence. The presence of a bus for shopping and on-campus maintenance support further reinforces convenience and quality of life.

Activities and social life: Social programming is another strong point. Reviewers mention an active club for socialization that increases mental activity, numerous activities and games, and an engaging calendar that helped people integrate and stay mentally stimulated. Multiple comments indicate that the facility supports social connection and provides meaningful engagement for residents.

Dining and management: Dining receives explicit praise through mention of an "amazing chef (Ty)," and management is noted as hands-on and resident-focused, with the director (Amy) described as knowing residents and caring for them. These details suggest attention to both day-to-day resident experience (meals) and higher-level oversight.

Concerns and patterns to watch: Two consistent concerns appear across reviews. First, cost: several reviewers note that assisted living and Alzheimer's care are on the higher end, indicating price sensitivity for prospective residents and families. Second, staffing: while most comments about staff are positive, multiple reviewers also mention that the facility can be short-staffed at times and that it can be hard to get help. This suggests occasional operational strains that may affect responsiveness despite generally strong staff performance. These are the only recurring negatives in the summaries provided.

Summary assessment: In sum, Forest Park Village is strongly recommended by reviewers for its compassionate staff, solid memory-care services, large and well-appointed apartments, social programming, and attentive management and dining. The main trade-offs reported are higher cost and periodic staffing shortages. Prospective residents and families should weigh the community’s noted strengths in personalized care, amenities, and social life against the potential for higher fees and occasional wait times for assistance. For many reviewers, the quality of staff relationships, the sense of community, and facility features outweighed the concerns.

    About Forest Park Village

Forest Park Village is a nonprofit, Christian-based senior living community run by Homme Homes, with locations in Wausau and Wittenberg. The community serves people ages 62 and up and has options for independent living, assisted living, nursing care, and rehabilitation. They have seventy-five modern one- or two-bedroom apartments fitted out with appliances, air conditioning, and window blinds. Residents can live independently, or they can get help with daily activities, medication, bathing, or housekeeping if that's needed, and they'll find friendly staff on duty around the clock in all care areas.

Stone Crest Residence offers 24-hour staff supervision, memory care with a Wander Guard security system for people at risk of wandering, and full-service support including meals, laundry, and health monitoring, with extra help for medication and insulin management when needed. Garden Apartments provide a smaller amount of help-up to 28 hours each week-with the same care for health, meals, medication, and personal needs along with cleaning and laundry.

The community doesn't allow smoking indoors in any of its public or private spaces, and it's tobacco-free in all living areas. Residents can bring pets, and they get complimentary transportation for appointments and the weekly shopping trips Forest Park Village organizes, which some folks find convenient. The activities calendar is full and lively, with fitness classes, a woodshop for crafts, a library, a beauty salon, and social gatherings with regular special dinners, games, and faith-based services in the chapel. The dining room offers a full salad bar for lunch, lighter choices for dinner, and special culinary events. There's a café on site, and people can relax while enjoying panoramic views around the grounds. Those who want to keep busy may appreciate the Independent Living Plus program, which gives extra support for things like linen changes, household chores, and more activities.

For people who need therapy, they can get physical, occupational, or speech therapy on doctor's orders right on the property. Residents can go to religious services in the chapel or take part in community traditions and social events. People may use indoor parking for an extra fee, and the homes use electric heat, for which residents pay the cost. Forest Park Village is dedicated to treating each person with dignity and respect, with a focus on independence and an active way of living, offering help that's personalized to individual needs. There's a foundation that accepts donations to support activities and care for residents. Adult day services are also available.
