    Brand-new spotless facility, attentive staff

I'm very pleased with this senior living facility - brand-new, spotless private or double rooms, reasonable rates, and secure, gentle care that accommodates Alzheimer's patients. The staff are welcoming, polite and responsive (they learn names/preferences, check on us, offer drinks when it's hot) and they engage residents with dancing, cookie-decorating, caroling, puzzles, foam ornament kits, photo-albums and even a visiting Labrador. Outdoor patio conversations and attentive meal/seating help made settling my mom easy; residents seem content. It's worth the long waiting list - heartfelt thanks for the peace of mind and excellent care.

    Summary of reviews

The reviews present a mixed picture of Close to Home Senior Living, with clear strengths alongside notable operational concerns. On the positive side, many families and visitors described a lively activity program that includes crafts, seasonal programs, music, puzzles, and occasional animal visits. Several accounts highlighted attentive caregiving interactions, routine check-ins (offering drinks and conversation), secure common spaces, and recently renovated or well-maintained private bedrooms. The facility is also described as accommodating memory-care needs and offering reasonable room options and pricing for families seeking placement.

Care quality and staff performance are areas of divergence. Numerous reviewers praised staff who are gentle, helpful, and proactive in mealtime assistance and seating, which supports resident comfort and engagement. Conversely, other reviewers expressed concerns about staff conduct and communication tone, including loud or disrespectful interactions and a lack of familiarity with resident preferences. Related operational issues include gaps in how clinical incidents are handled and communicated to families, and instances that suggest inconsistent staff training or supervision.

Dining and hygiene feedback is inconsistent. Some families appreciated attentive meal service and seating assistance; other accounts described repetitive menus and a lack of fresh produce or variety. There are also sanitation and incontinence-care concerns noted by reviewers, alongside isolated references to pest-control issues. These point to variable standards in housekeeping and personal-care support across the facility.

Activity programming and amenities are frequently cited as strengths — group crafts, caroling, dancing exercises, and outdoor patio use were positively described — yet other residents were said to receive low engagement and limited individualized activity, sometimes spending extended periods in their rooms. This suggests the facility offers robust programming but may have variability in how consistently activities and individualized engagement are delivered.

Management and responsiveness show inconsistency in reviewers’ experiences. Some families found staff and management welcoming and responsive, while others described defensive responses to concerns, instances where issues were not addressed to their satisfaction, and pressure to provide positive online feedback. Taken together, these patterns indicate uneven complaint-resolution practices and variable transparency.

For prospective residents and families: the facility demonstrates clear strengths in social programming, certain aspects of caregiving, and physical accommodations. At the same time, recurring themes — inconsistent staff conduct, meal variability, sanitation and pest-control concerns, safety oversight gaps, and uneven management responsiveness — merit direct inquiry. When considering placement, visit during activity times, ask about staffing ratios and training, request documentation of pest-control and housekeeping protocols, review incident-response and family-notification procedures, and discuss meal planning and outdoor-access policies to assess consistency with your expectations.

About Close to Home Senior Living

Close To Home Senior Living is a small senior care community, owned by two healthcare professionals, where about twenty residents live, and the whole approach is about kindness, honoring each person's uniqueness, and making sure folks feel cared for, so you've got staff there who are always friendly and helpful, doing things like helping with bathing, dressing, medication, and even more personal needs, and they'll set up individualized service plans to fit each resident's preferences. Residents can get both short-term and long-term admissions, with respite care available for those needing a break or recovering after a hospital stay, and the staff keeps an eye on everyone twenty-four hours a day, keeping people safe and comfortable. Meals are home-cooked with an emphasis on nutrition and good taste, and you see options for group meals, outdoor seating, and even private rooms-some with half baths-especially upstairs at the Grantosa Home, though you need to know that mobility options like wheelchairs are supported at some locations, while canes and walkers are mostly for the first floor at certain sites.

They accept private pay and some Managed Care Organization plans, and what's practical is they don't require an endowment fee for long-term care, which can be a relief for families managing costs. Residents can get all sorts of help with daily living and companionship services, and staff really try to match companionship and activities with what each individual wants, so if someone enjoys group visits or needs one-on-one time, they make that happen, and if medical needs pop up, they contract with outside providers for services like hospice, palliative care, medical visits, therapy, and pharmacy services, plus things like podiatry, audiology, or vision checks. The place covers the basics, too, with free Wi-Fi, elevators, easy transport and parking, laundry service, and regular housekeeping, so a resident can count on things being tidy and comfortable.

Community-based residential facilities here feel like shared neighborhood homes, with live-in caregivers always nearby, and if someone's better suited to more independent living, they also have senior apartments, but for those needing more care, especially folks living with dementia, memory care services are designed to foster engagement and self-expression in a secure space. No matter what level of need, you see flexible admissions, activities, therapies, and a real focus on making each resident feel comfortable, respected, and, as much as possible, at home.
