Seton Haven sits on five and a half acres in Montgomery, Alabama, and has one-bedroom apartments for seniors aged 62 and older, though there are 10 units for people of any age with mobility problems, and there are a total of 100 senior apartment homes, each about 600 square feet, with large living and dining areas and fully equipped kitchens, plus air and heating controls and emergency pull cords for added safety, and with recent renovations the place feels comfortable and welcoming. The community's mid-rise building has washers and dryers, cable TV, wifi, off-street parking, and a sprinkler system for extra peace of mind, and staff are always available to help, support, and check in on residents, with 24-hour security in place. You'll find both independent and assisted living services alongside memory care and personal care, with the Baptist Home Services team offering home care and hospice if a resident needs those as well, and most folks participate in daily social, educational, and health programs, with lots of chances for arts and crafts, exercise, games, and conversation. Seton Haven has a dining room where you can get a noon meal Monday through Friday except on holidays, and the kitchens in each apartment let people cook for themselves if they want, and the staff offers basic housekeeping, laundry and dry cleaning services, as well as help with transportation. The community welcomes people with all kinds of needs, including those who want to live independently and those who need more hands-on support with daily life, and the apartment layouts give older adults a chance to downsize comfortably while keeping some privacy and independence. There are walking paths on landscaped grounds, a fitness center, activities and game rooms, salons, guest parking, and full maintenance support, and since the building meets HUD Section 8 and Section 202 housing requirements, people can get rental help if they qualify, so more folks can afford to live here. Rent can be income-based to help with costs, so older adults can focus more on living and less on worrying about finances. The community runs Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and requires an appointment to start the application process, and the friendly and experienced team speaks English while offering a welcoming place for residents to stay active and social, whether folks are independent, need mobility or wheelchair help, or want dedicated care for cognitive impairment. There's always something going on at Seton Haven, so it's easy to make friends, join group activities, or take part in programs that make life a little brighter and easier.
Comfortable community, service and disruptions
I live here and, overall, I feel at home - roomy, low-maintenance apartments with good storage, renovated common areas, a lovely garden/patio and strong security in Midtown. Activities and social events are excellent and plentiful, and the place suits independent seniors. That said, staff are inconsistent: some are caring and organized but others are disorganized and sometimes disrespectful, with poor communication. Ongoing renovations are disruptive, bathrooms have low toilets, meals are pricey and hit-or-miss, and parking is a real headache. I'm even disputing a deposit over a walk-through and considering legal action. Worth it if you value safety, community, and location, but be prepared for service and staffing issues.
